Mega Man Review by: RedHotToddy - 8.6/10

Back when?I was a kid, I wasn't all that into action shooter games, hence other titles like doom and such, which were first person shooters much in the lines of call of duty, The thing is that I was only little, and I didn't have much experience into all this explosive violence and stuff, and I don't why, This all changed until I got my hands on this very video game right here, That is right folks, this game is what made action shooter platformers, and what game is that you ask? Well folks, this game is mega man, This is mega man for the NES. Let's get started shall we folks?

Story-7/10
In a very distant futuristic world lives 2 very humble guys, Dr light and Dr Willy, these guys have created these super powered functional robots to do bidding around the place, These robots include Cutman, fire man, Ice man, guts man, Bomb man, elec man, and last but not least...Mega man. One very day though, Dr wily grows tired of using these guys to do their daily bidding, so he then reprograms the robots to take over the world and cause havoc everywhere! Because of this, it is all up to Mega man to save the day, Mega man is a humble blue robot with many features, so he is the perfect guy to save the world! So anyways, that is the story for the game, now let's get onto the actual game itself!

Gameplay-8/10
For the most part, Mega man is a 2D action shooter game where you take the role of the titular hero mega man, as you jump climb and shoot your way through 6 big giant and vast levels, The first thing I like about this game is that out of all the 6 levels, you can play through them in any order you like! This trend has became very popular throughout, and I can see. So anyway, the controls are pretty simple, You use the D-pad to move, A button is jump, and B button is shoot. In each level you must chase after and destroy a certain robot reprogrammed by Dr wily to destroy the world, The levels consist of two main sections, The first section is the main level itself, and the second section is a tough and challenging fight against the desired robot, now these guys are tough, so be careful! Each level in the game is crazier after the last, as the blue bomber, you will be shooting your way through volcanoes, glaciers, saw blades, and so on! Mega man will be fighting tons of baddies in his quest, including buzzers, flying bombers, and so on. As mega man, you are also and always armed with a powerful hand gun to defeat the bad guys, as you progress through the game, you will find more upgrades to your gun, so keep an eye out for them! Power-ups are also an essential in this adventure, you will be collecting yellow bulbs which will restore your health, pink pellets that drop out of enemies that will give you extra bonus points, and so on! Anyways, That is pretty much it for the gameplay folks!

Graphics-9/10
This game was made way early in the NES' life span, and for what it is worth, It looks quite amazing to be honest! I mean let's be real here, the game has a bunch of colorful and pretty looking yet tough robots, so of course there is alot of color to everything! But anyways, each level you will be exploring is vast, big, and bursting with color and atmosphere! As I have addressed already, each level is crazier then the last, you will be exploring saw mills, volcanoes, glaciers, and so on! Now for the actual character sprites, they look pretty good as well! Mega man looks good, the robots you will be fighting are Ok, and so on. I mean the game came early in the life span of the NES, so cut it tons of slack guys! Of course it is not going to look as prettier brighter and just overall better then the sequels, Yeah, I am going to be saying that on all first installments of certain video games (I:E Ratchet and clank 1) But anyways, that is pretty much it for the graphics!

Sound-8/10
Capcom is no stranger when it comes to fun and catchy soundtracks in their video games, and this is really no exception! Each level in the game is filled with fun catchy and overall pleasant music that fits every each of the levels! But anyways, now as for the sound effects, they are pretty plain and Ok to say the least, this game does involve lots of shooting blasting and exploding, so be ready to here alot of "Pew pew pew" "Boom" and "Kabam!" in your quest to say the least! Mega man games are always and I say ALWAYS have awesome music,and this is the first game in the series, so no duh!

Addictiveness-8/10
I will admit, shooter action games have actually really grown on me since I first played this adventure, and that goes for the same when It comes to all the other mega man installments and sequels. I mean, some fun factor in this game is replaying all the levels for extra goodies like extra lives, higher scores, and so on. Don't all you guys here on vizzed board think mega man is such a fun addicting series because of all those reasons? I think so! I hope they make newer games though, haven't seen the little guy in a long time I tell you, ever since the fall of DMC earlier this year, capcom has left him alone for a while. Let's bring him back! Who is with me!?!?

Depth-7/10
This explosive action packed adventure is pretty long and offers quite alot to do, Well to start off, the main adventure itself is over 6 levels long, so get ready for an hour of action packed explosive shooting goodness! Oh yeah, the game also uses a scoring system, each time you kill guys or collect stuff, your score increase, I still play the game to break my current or old high scores, and tha is a definite plus if you ask me!

Difficulty-8/10
When I say the word capcom, I think of hard, fun, and really challenging games, and This is really no exception! The game can give you quite alot of trouble and here are a couple of reasons why, Most of those pesky levels (Ice man dang you!) Have really tight jumps and puzzles that can cause you to fall and fail a couple or more times if you are not good enough, and those bosses in the game have some pretty darn powerful attacks! So be careful, but if you are a real true expert gamer, then the game shouldn't give you enough trouble if you ask me.

Overall-8.6/10
This very game right here is what started it all for the cute comical and charm action packed explosive series, and this is one of the perfect games for me to review! Especially since I am really running out of games on the board to review, but anyways, I gave this game an 8.6 because it is fun, challenging, cute, comical, and well, Yeah! That is why I rated this game as it is! So anyways, just buy this game or play it if you haven't already, It is worth all of your time, so anyways, this has been RedHotToddy's 111th review, and I am off! Oh yeah, I have a confession to make, When I get to 130 reviews, I might go on for a long hiatus, but I will try my best to keep these awesome and long reviews coming!
