Does anyone else out there feel as though people now a days are just piety with a dash of overly sensitive. It seems like all you hear now a days is this is discrimination,or unequal. I'll admit I'm not very good at looking from another person's perspective but I just feel like in certain situations people are just being piety. For example the other day a male (he was transgender) walks into my work place and asks to use the bathroom and so I showed him where they are located and he was like "where's the gender neutral bathroom" I'm like we don't have one the mens is over there but if you dont wanna use the mens, just use which ever one you feel conformable with and he just flips out talking about how come we don't have a gender neutral bathroom and how he was offended that I directed him to the men's room, now before I get backlash for directing him to the men's room this individual was clearly a man dressed as a women. But this is one of my many stories I have of people being to sensitive, I'm just wondering and want to hear other people opinions and stories on the mattter.

Of course people are too sensitive. They've been told for the last 20-30 years that their self esteem is the most important thing and now they feel like they should have a trouble free life instead of having to get up and work for the things they want.
I'm so tired of people protesting for more. Go get more if you want more or choose to live with less. You can't force people to give you more than you are worth. And your worth isn't determined by your feelings. |

geeogree : that's another thing that pushes my buttons, not wanting to work hard for something but still feeling intitled to have the thing you want(hope that made sense). But while we are on that subject I hate hearing stories about fatal muggings because one individual is to lazy and trifiling to work hard to get what they want so they rob good hard working decent people .

These arguements make examples of over the top behaviour, but it always seems to lump valid issues where instead of being "too sensitive", it's that people know better now than 30 years ago.
Also, Celestial, if you intentionally directed a person that was wearing non-masculine clothing to the mens bathroom, you will come off as giving an unasked opinion of what you think they are. |

On3On : Morally, I can't knowing send a male into the female restrooms especially in a kid environment and this individual was clearly a man unfortunately I could see outlines of his anatomy and his adams apple, and especially since they had on the news a week back in Woodbridge Virginia a man was dressing as a women and going into the ladies room to "peep" on them. But that's besides the point, I was upset when he went on a rant about unfair treatment and how its discriminatory to not have a "gender" neutral bathroom which honestly I felt it was piety and being overly sensitive because he was born a man he still had his male anatomy parts so what difference would it had made for him to use either bathroom male or female, but to sit and complain claiming discrimination, unfair treatment about not having a gender neutral bathroom is ridiculous in his case when he clearly had the anatomy of one gender.

people know better? Like allowing people to use whichever rest room they want based on which gender they feel like they are? Does that not seem insane to you? Obviously not or you wouldn't have said what you said.
I'm tired of pandering to these tiny minorities who want everyone else to change so they can feel "normal". I'm sorry you feel like you're not normal. That's not my fault and I shouldn't be forced to change so I don't hurt someones feelings. |

People are extremely sensitive nowadays, and as for your gender neutral bathroom, if he's trans, I don't see why he didn't use the men's bathroom. I don't understand why people get so offended over the smallest of things. I understand discrimination still exists, but my god, not everything that doesn't cater to your needs is discrimination.
Where do you live, by the way? I live in a smaller town, so I'm not familiar with having been asked where gender neutral things are (and I'm in the bible belt, so...). |

writingwolves : Stafford Virginia, but I just felt as though it wasn't a huge deal as he so clearly made it into, and honestly its pretty simple you use the bathroom that fits your anatomy, but he made it like he's an activist and the establishment I work at was discriminatory towards transgender individuals because there isn't a third "gender neutral" bathroom, like come on.
geeogree : I couldn't agree with you more, the civil rules of restroom usage is a simple concept use the one that matches your anatomy one shouldn't just up and blame the establishment your in or just make outrageous claims like someones discriminating against you and honestly i don't even see the purpose of having a gender neutral bathroom. Celestial Knight : Oh god, he was one of... those people.
But seriously though, can someone honestly explain the "trans people needing a separate bathroom" thing to me because my brother is trans. He's female-to-male, pre-op, and picks the male characters for pokemon games, and the male gender |

writingwolves : I'll take a crack at explaining why I think they want there own bathroom. I guess they want there own bathroom because they feel uncomfortable using both/one the mens or womens bathroom. Like I mean its awkward for them I guess considering they started off as a member of the opposite sex for which ever bathroom they are entering and if they didn't get gender reassignment surgery yet I suppose they feel as though they might offend other people belonging to that said gender.
Or they just feel like they should have a separate restroom just to try and say there's a third gender. |

it isn't their own bathroom though... gender neutral doesn't mean men and women can't use it but it means that ANYONE can use it.
That means that any man can use the same restroom as any woman at any time under those rules. NO THANKS! I dislike public restrooms enough having to go when other guys are around I can't imagine trying to also do my business with women coming in and out too. Or it means adding another totally separate bathroom.... and for how many people? I'm not saying we shouldn't accommodate things when it makes sense but to create a completely separate bathroom for less than 1% of the population is insane. |

That's just wrong there....I mean I know I am sensitive but not to that point. And it doesn't make sense...if you were born female or male use the right toilet rooms. Even if you come to find out yourself as an transgender use the right rooms from what you were born as. Not to go changing your gender because you feel its comfortable that way. I shouldn't be harsh, but that's the reality of somethings that you are not happy with....

This is just absurd. A minor percentage of the population will never get everything they want, for example, they cannot force all places to reform their restrooms, for reasons such as space, funds and more.
Let's be bluntly honest: bathrooms aren't about gender, but genitals, and that's why there are only two kinds. They want their own so "normal" people won't look at them with disdain, to say the least? Sorry, but no. There are already so many strange people entering public bathrooms that I wouldn't consider a trans to be over the average amount of rareness. These kind of people that cannot take how things are and will forever be annoy me, and I'm talking about all kinds of people. The world isn't a perfect place no matter what or where you are, whether you like it or not, and you must accept it because you will gain nothing by protesting. |

I really hate it when people, any people really, but, transgenders seem especially notorious for not seeing the situation for what it is:that they are a small group of people who prefer things to be different than what most other people prefer.
Lots of them want to get all up in arms when you say that you don't share their philosophy and play the victim of some tragic injustice you people have committed by not "accepting" them.I'm so tired of reading news stories about how "some idiot dared to voice his opinion that you can only be one gender or the other. They done messed up now.How dare they?" Pious people like that don't want to see that they're being unfair and, essentially, doing the same thing they're accusing you of.They just want so much attention and to be treated as special, probably because they grew up that way.I've got nothing against these people, I just want them to stop picking fights with people who never asked for it.Anyway those are just my two cents worth and I should probably shut up now, before I get myself in real trouble with certain parties. |

Does anyone else have any experiences or examples to share of a situation where the individual involved was being completely too sensitive or piety or just completely unreasonable?

I am. . . happy to see some common sense on Vizzed for once.
In all sincerity, I've felt like this site has been becoming the same for a while. . . and the people have become far to quiet about how they really feel. In fact, I ignore many threads on topics like this just because I've posted in them so many times to find the most ridiculous emotional behavior spat back out upon me. The situation like you're describing is a silly one. This gender stuff has really gotten out of control. You begin to wonder where reality fits in this new picture of humanity. |

Sword legion : Even though I'm new, after exploring some of the other forums on the board its become a little obvious that the members here don't really post there real feelings and opinions on topics you can tell, the majority either agrees with members with weird username styles or don't really post about anything with depth but pokemon...
But yeah, the whole LGBT community really has gotten out of control, I personally kinda though they were over exaggerating when they compared the LGBT freedoms/struggle to the Black struggle.Me being black(well half black) I thought they were crazy, black people had dogs and fire hoses set loose upon them and weren't allowed to drink/ use different water fountains, bathrooms etc. the LGBT community hasn't faced anything near what Blacks did back in the 1930-1970. |

Once again Celestial, you are correct. The LGBT thinks they have it rough? Blacks were discriminated against simply because of their skin. Japanese-Americans were locked up in internment camps because of their ancestry. But I agree,we are a world of whining, sniveling, and overall babies. You are born either male or female,(or transgender in a few cases.),so use the appropriate facilities. It is not that hard. I think we have all forgotten how to use common sense.
Now I might come off as old, intolerant,or a run of the mill jerk here but many of the issues of the LGBT are self-inflicted. They CHOSE to be different. They CHOSE to do things that are unnatural. Now before this goes any further,I have no issues with gays or lesbians or trans people. But,by the same token,do not force your views on those of us that are normal. They compare their problems with Blacks' issues of the early 20th Century? Ridiculous. They cannot change their skin color, they cannot change their ancestry, they were discriminated against simply because they were of another race,WHICH YOU CANNOT CONTROL OR CHANGE. The LGBT chooses to be different, they choose to do things that are against the social norm. We have become too sensitive and it is eroding our character and our ability to be self-sufficient. We now demand things to be tailor made. We demand things to be accommodating to things that are controllable. For instance, those motorized carts at Wal-Mart? Who do you think uses them? The elderly or those with physical issues? No. The ones that usually use them are overweight people that do not really need them. I can say that,I am overweight, but I at least have enough damn decency and respect for myself to walk in and grab what I came in for on my own damn feet. |
