Mario becomes an icon   gamerforlifefor..
After the video game crash of 1983, the gaming industry looked like it would be dead forever, that is until Nintendo came along and made the NES. The moment when the gaming industry was truly resurrected though was when Nintendo released one of, if not THE most iconic video game of all time, Super Mario Bros. This game saved the gaming industry and is still to this day the best selling Mario game of all time, selling over 40 million copies worldwide. Since this game's so iconic, I've decided that I'm finally going to review it. I hope you enjoy this review.
Graphics: 8/10 Super Mario Bros for the nes has very nice graphics for it's time. The game has plenty of vibrant colors and the character models look very nice for a game made in the mid 1980's. Everything from the 1st world to the underground levels and even the underwater levels look very nice for a game from that era. Since the graphics are great for it's time, I'm giving the graphics an 8.
Sound: 10/10 The first thing that comes to mind when you think of Super Mario Bros music is the main overworld theme. That theme right there is one of the most iconic video game music of all time. Everyone's heard it, everyone knows is beat for beat, and it's fantastic. Super Mario Bros has other memorable music as well such as the underwater theme and underground themes, but the overworld theme alone is enough for me to give the sound a 10.
Addictiveness: 8/10 Super Mario Bros is one of the most addicting NES games ever made. The game introduced many great gameplay elements that are still so much fun to this day, such as jumping on goombas and koopas. Squashing those goombas never gets old. Whenever you make it through a castle, you always get that classic toad message: "Thank you Mario, but our princess is in another castle". That message will motivate you to go to the next castle and hopefully finally save the princess. There is one thing that I never cared for though, and that's the underwater levels. Then again, a lot of video games have poor underwater level experiences so I'm not going to dock too much from the addictiveness score, instead I'm giving the addictiveness an 8.
Story: 5/10 The story for Super Mario Bros is rescue the princess from Bowser. That's all there is to it. It's very generic and mediocre, so I'm giving the story a 5.
Depth: 8/10 There are 8 worlds in the game with 4 levels each. For a mid 1980's game, this game had a huge amount of depth. The levels themselves aren't easy either which I'll get into a little later. There are plenty of enemies that will get in your way and you'll have to make it through and some of them pretty tough such as the Hammer Bros. Overall, Super Mario Bros has plenty of depth, so I'm giving this category an 8.
Difficulty: 9/10 Super Mario Bros is a pretty difficult game, especially when it comes to dealing with those annoying Hammer Bros. Those guys are always tough to get past. Also the later levels in the game get very intense, and they'll truly test your reflexes. The underwater levels are also hard to get through since the physics in those levels make it so difficult to avoid cheep cheeps and bloopers. Super Mario Bros is a very difficult game, therefore I'm giving the difficulty a 9.
Overall Score: 9/10 Super Mario Bros is definitely one of the most famous video games of all time, and it's a really great one too. The graphics are great for it's time, it has a very memorable soundtrack, it has plenty of levels to go through, and it's got plenty of replay value. Super Mario Bros is one of the best games ever made for the NES and it's also the most well known. The overall score I'm giving to Super Mario Bros is a 9 out of 10.

The Classic Game that everyone knows about   IgorBird122
This game right here is the start of Mario taking off into a huge video gaming phenomenon we all know of that continues well into today, this is pretty much one of the biggest games that recovered the video game industry from the crash of 1983.
Some of the people that thinks about of the Mario series, they first think about this famous game right here
----------
The Graphics:
The Graphics for this 8-bit game is very awesome for the 8-bit console like the NES. The characters are very well done for an 8-bit system.
The vegetation in this game is awesome for the 8-bit game, not just vegetation, but the setting, the characters, and the enemies in this game, they really stand out with their 8-bit graphics.
----------
The Sound/Music:
The music in this game is very neat, although they're only a couple theme songs on this game, but they each song really fit in with the level you are playing it in which really stands out for the player to experience with.
For the sound effects, they are very wonderful on how they all cane up with this, it has that classic sound when you jump, using power-ups, and gathering coins really set this game franchise for future games to come.
----------
The Addictiveness:
The addictiveness level for this game is extremely high, what do you expect, with a famous game like this, this game is extremely addicting to play over and over again which really nice to play whenever your bored and want to play the first Super Mario Bros. game that's ever made.
----------
The Story:
The story about the game is where Mario goes through multiple worlds and levels to get to Bowser and save Princess Peach that he has kidnapped from the Mushroom Kingdom, and restore the Mushroom Kingdom.
----------
The Depth:
The Depth of this game is great, it gives the player a lot to do with this game like going though bonus levels, alternative paths, and a lot other things that the player can possibly do in this game.
----------
The Difficulty:
The Difficulty I can say is really hard, but at the same time, it's really fun to play it.
Once you get used to the whole game, the game tends to be really easy to play threw.
----------
Overall:
I have to say, by my opinion, this game really set the bar for future games, and just for this game in general, this game is a huge success with the amount of gameplay, and the graphics, and a lot of other interesting things you can do with this famous game.
Bottom line, all I can say about this game, this game is one of the biggest success that Nintendo came up with and brought a lot into Mario and this game helped Mario to really break out into the video game world with future games, but out of those games, a lot of people looks back to this game and see how much success this one game gotten on the NES.
If you love Mario Games and you haven't played this one, this is the one game you have to try out and play, this game is an appsolute classic for gamers worldwide.

Super Mario Bros. NES   billythekidmons..
Well, here we are. The first major plat-former on the NES and boy is it a big one. This game shaped many kids lives when it came out bundled with the NES. They got this and duck hunt and I will assure you that duck hunt was the lesser played of the two.
The first thing I have to tell you is that the game is NOT easy. I have played through this game many times on many systems and they all still kick my butt. I love the game though, the game has that mix that is just right between so hard you want to quit and just hard enough that you want to go on. The only bad part is no saves or anything that we are accustomed to now. That is why the 1-UP trick has became so famous. Though after you have played the game as many times as I have you can speed run the first few levels without much problem at all.
The reason that this game is so famous is the music. The music has been remixed orchestrated and dozens of others things in the past 25 years after the release of the game. Nintendo knew what they were doing with the songs, the castles sound a bit scary, underwater is nice and floatsy, and up above ground it is catchy. All of the music is good and I actually have it on disc and listen to it quite often. Luckily the game play matches the sound quite nicely.
Mario is mario... He is the Godfather of the modern plat-former and rightfully so. The games he has been in have many times tried to be imitated and many times have failed. The game consists of 2 things. Running and jumping. You must be thinking that it would make the game really shallow but it does not. The game is very fun and you can do hundreds of things just running and jumping. You have to jump over turtles sprint to get to platforms and also jump to get some shrooms. The game requires twitch reflexes that are helped by the fact that the game is spot on with tight control. Has not been better before or after.

The game looks great. The pixels are sharp and there is no slowdown that I ever occurred which was pretty common back in the day. Everything un-folds right before your eyes and the game is bright and colorful. The game is really a work of art that has a style all its own. I like the art style and how they made everything look really smooth with the really held back tech that they had.
The game has no story really. It would be unfair to grade it on one just because the only bits of story that you get is that the princess is in another castle. You get this 7 times for each of the castles and in the end you finally get the girl. Really basic stuff so I did not rate the story at all.
All in all the game is great and you like plat-formers or just mario in general you should try this out. If you have never played the game in your life you need too. This is where home gaming started so you should really pay your respects. This is one of the best games that I have ever played and I give it a 9.7. Just because I am a stickler for handing out 10's.

Super Mario   Reptile10177
This really sparked the platforming genre, and there is a good reason why. This time I won't talk, and just get into the review.
Graphics : 9/10
I personally like the graphics. They are fun and interesting. From the fireworks at the end of the stages, to the variety of blocks that you can break. The only real complaint I have is that Mario's clothes match his hair. That's an age old complaint, but It confuses me. Everyone else had different colors, why did he not? I'm sure there is a good reason that I am overlooking. Until then, I will have to pretend he is furry.
Sound : 8/10
Super Mario Bros has wonderful 8 bit music, and some cheery sound effects. I love both the effects and the music, but after a while it does get annoying. Just slightly, and not half as bad as the other games that have loops. They still remain lovely to this day, but after about an hour it makes me turn the volume down a little. Mainly the jumping. It's the best Mario jumping sound effect, and it is recognizable, but it is annoying if you jump a lot. It's definitely not the worst sound effect ever, specifically for jumping, but I still am not fond of it.
Addictiveness : 10/10
Once you get into this game, it's hard to put it down. I love playing it for hours, it keeps getting better. The time I stop is after losing, but I always come back to it though. It's like an addiction, hence the Addictiveness rating! I think this game has a very high replay value. Thirty years later, people still think of SMB when they think of Nintendo. It's one of the games that made the NES a classic, because once you start you don't want to stop!
Story : 7/10
The story is good, but it's confusing. I know this was an early 80's game, so story wasn't a big concern as long as it's fun. It's like that today. I still think that it is kinda hard if you are new to it, that you have no idea! It's pretty generic nowadays, the difference is the fact that the generic games copied the idea from this one! This spawned so many kill the boss, save the princess games. It's the most classic and most fun story I have ever seen though. I think that the save the princess games are the most fun. Whether you're a knight in shining armor or a plumber in  brown/red clothes. I think that's why it has a high story rating, because it's fun and interesting.
Depth : 10/10
Even with fire flowers and warp zones, only the skilled speed runners can make this a 5 minute game. If you just like to enjoy the game, your in for a good, long, and challenging time. This game takes a while to beat. It also takes commitment, if you are willing to face the challenge head-on, then you deserve to beat it. Well you deserve to enjoy, but it takes commitment to successfully make that dream true.
Difficulty : 8/10
It's hard, I know. Oh goodness it is so hard! No saving ability, small amount of  lives, and 1-2 hit deaths. I know it's pretty hard. But it's not really hard until the later levels though, and there are lives/powerups you can find. If you practice enough, you can get the hang of it. So all in all it isn't really that hard, and it isn't really memorable for it's difficulty. I think it could have been way worse.
Overall : 9.8/10
I think it's a classic no matter how many people hate it. Whether if it's too hard or too long, I like it. Tell me if you agree with me down in the comments. How would you have it be changed? Tell me that down in the comments also! If you want a specific game review tell me to do it, and I will as soon as I can! :)

One of the best games ever!   Pikachu-12
Let's begin this review with the graphics. They are simply amazing for this period of time! If you've played this game, you know exactly what I mean. For the time this game was released, the graphics for this game were legendary!
The same with the graphics, the music and sound in this game were legendary for its time. In fact, I would say it is better than some of the soundtracks we hear on modern consoles. World 1-1's music will be stuck in my head forever! The sound effects are even better than some later games. I'm looking at you, Mario's Time Machine! No offense if you like that game! That pretty much covers music and sound, so let's move on to addictiveness.
Is this game addicting? Oh yes it is! It is one of the most addictive games I've ever played!. That says a lot, because I've played some pretty addictive games before, like the original Sonic games. Don't get me wrong, they are great games, just like this one, but this game comes to my mind first when I think of classics and addictiveness.
The story in this game is pure classic. Bowser kidnaps the princess and Mario has to save her. But he keeps showing up in the wrong castle. For the time, this was the best story ever! I'll even say it is way better than some other stories presented many years later. I'm looking at you, Sonic '06!
This game is huge for the time! It takes a lot of practice to master this game. It was slightly easier for me, since I grew up on Super Mario Bros. Deluxe for the Game Boy Color. This game might be the biggest game on the system before Zelda! That's why I rated it so high.
Is this game difficult? Yes it is! It can get frustrating later on. I will give you a hint, though. Don't get frustrated. This game is supposed to be fun. Don't get mad just because you can't beat one level! That's how I beat Super Mario Bros. Deluxe, which is basically a remake of this game. So the same rules apply!
Overall, this game is a great classic that will be remembered as one of the best games of all time. Just play this game, it's pretty much self-explanatory once you play it. I highly recommend this game to anyone who has extra time and would like to play the game that started it all.

The start of platformers   DoubleD1997
Super Mario Bros. was the start of all platformers and basically the start of Nintendo themselves. Is this first platformer worth playing? This is my review.
Graphics 9
The Graphics are for the time very good. Everything is shown in a pixel form and Nintendo was able to pull it off only using that. This should be credited since how hard it was to make a presentable character only using pixel like animation.
Sound 10
The sound is this game is perfect. The sound that Mario makes when he jumps is clearly heard from the player and makes his jump sound unique. The music is great. The fact that  the music loops after so many times and you still want to hear it means that this music is no joke. What makes it even better is that it is not easy adding sounds into a system that I believe contains 8 MB (correct me if I am wrong) and the fact that they made the  music still sound very good deserves a ten.
Addictiveness 10
This game is very addictive, the gameplay runs very smooth, and the platforming is great. There are certain abilities that you can gain in the game that gives your player an advantage against enemies making you enjoy the game even more. There is also a score count so you will constantly replay the game trying to out best your score each time making the game very addictive.
Story 8
Okay I know what your thinking how can a story that has been used in basically every Mario game get an eight? Well you have to look at the fact that this is the first Mario game meaning that this is the first time that they used the story of The princess being captured by the evil Bowser. It's simple but hey at least you know what your objective is. I mean do you like playing a game that you don't even know what the purpose is?
Depth 7
The game doesn't offer much it just offers the main game in two ways. You can play the game by yourself or if you have a buddy you can play two players taking turns after the other person dies. It isn't much but I think that the main game stands good since the game doesn't necessarily is fast to beat.
Difficulty 7
The game is not as hard but can be challenging once you are heading towards the last worlds. It makes the game fun because it doesn't start off hard in the beginning which most NES games do. It starts off easy then it progressively gets harder and harder. It makes the difficulty unique because it doesn't let the player get mad and rage quit the game. It gives them a few levels to get the hang of the controls and then as they get further into the game that's when their skills get put to the test.
Overall 10
Super Mario bros. is probably the best game for the NES it delivers a stunning platform performance and it gives the player a fun time. The game itself has also been declared the best video game of all time. Super Mario bros will always be remembered in our hearts and even though it is super old nobody will forget the Italian Plumber. Super Mario Bros. gets a 10 out of 10.

Its a me a Luigi   ThanatosUnraveld
Mario everyone knows Mario but some people don't know the first game he was in (which wasn't Super Mario Bros its Donkey Kong) but we ant talking bout that game, we are talking about the game that actually made the Italian 'plumber' who is known for today A.K.A the one and only (LOLZ!) Super Mario Bro(s). Way back in the year of 1683 there was a video game crash and not one gamer knew what was gonna happen after that then the NES came along and changed the date by 200 years! Oh and it also gave us video games one of which was Super Mario Bros. which was one of the launch titles on the system and it is considered to be one of the games that helped the video game economy become what it is today (75% of what I said was true.) So this game was the shiz back then but over 20 years later............. does it still hold up or has time and fame gotten to it, well lets find out shall we?

As this was one of the games that launched on the NES there Graphics for the game could be a bit bad and people wouldn't give that much hate because some developers might not know how powerful the system is, but the game was made by the people who made the system so of course the game is gonna look good and it does. It kind of seemed like some other games before it had the same graphic feel (what I mean is that the area might be different but if felt and kind of looked the same) but Mario Bros proves its the big bro by making each new area you go to feel new and different. Not only does each area feel different the areas are also nice and colorful the color is varied from brown to green to blue to whatever you can think of cept purple (I think), and the colors don't clash with each other so theirs no 'wow that's distracting' points in the game. And Mario himself looks......... decent to me he looks a bit too small but its nothing ill lose eye sight over, he looks nice and plump (ooooooooooooooh yaaaaaaaaaaaaa) not only that but he can also change colors (ooooh, aaaah, eeeeh) when he gets a fire flower he turns into a fat man with a white overalls with a red undershirt (which is the only game to have done this.) But back to the areas, the areas change as you go along one stage you might be in the mushroom kingdom the next you might be swimming underwater (rarely) or even going through a dungeon so they really made use of the color pallet for this game, and it rocks for that. SO for being a kind of sorta (not really launch title) for the NES they really knew what they where doing with the Graphics and for that I shall happily give them a 7 out of 10.

We all know how great the Sounds are in this game so must I go on? Well do I.................... ok fine ill explain what I mean, I'm not sure if its because of how old or classic this game is or just because this game rocks but the music is AWESOME and its made some of the most memorable video game music we have. We all know and love the world 1-1 theme but that's not all that rocks in fact almost all the tracks do and get this THERES MORE THEN ONE TRACK IN THE GAME, so if you hate repeating tracks then worry not because once again Super Mario Bros. proves it is the big sister of other games. The music itself has this little 'pop' to it that makes it have it own cheery and energetic feeling to it that makes you want to grab your Italian back fat and swing it around like you just don't care (please don't), so the tracks vary from the Mushroom kingdom goodness to the game over goodness (wait a moment game over goodness.................) I think my favorite track is the underwater track so good. So how bout them there sound effects? Well I tell ya bout em (my mommy told me I had to or else) and they are like the music they have there own happy feel from them (kind of weird I know) and you know what id never of thought a spring sound effect would work for a fat man but darn it it sure does (somehow.) The only bad thing I can come up with when it comes to music is that there aren't really that many tracks so while they sound good after the 20th time you get kind of sick of them and just wish there was more to rub your ear against the tv for. So weather you are kicking it to the goodness of the over world theme or kicking the bucket with the game over theme you know you will be doing it to a Sound with a score of a 9 out of 10.

So can a game this old really be Addictive, well to some people yes it can be and its mainly people who are really into platformers and like it to be a bit slower then the likes of say Sanic The Hoghedge. You would also like this game if you have a thing for speedrunning games because Super Mario Bros. can be beaten veeeeeeeeeeeeeery quickly like 5 minutes and done kind of quick, ore if you like finding secrets can beat the game that fast unless you found out them those secret warp points am I right? If your someone who likes to beat levels in general would like it to (really stretching the player types here aren't we?) And of course you would like Mario Bros. if you like Sonic The Hedgehog (OH YA I SAID IT COME AT ME BRO DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!) I mean they are very similar so its not like its gonna be that hard to switch from one to another (cept for having to tell the fan base bout it 0,o) so you might as well give it a whirl. Or if you are a big fan of the more modern 2.5 D Mario (or even the 3d ones) games then try it out you like it, or if you never played a video game before it might become the game you play once or twice a year. So if your a platformer nut a Sonic Fanboy (or girl) or a newbie to video games you might find this game Addictive because it gets a 5 out of 10.

Oh Mario games and there lack of Story how I kind of love you so (not really) so if you thought modern Mario games had a sucky story well.................... its the same story here as it is there and here's what it is. A 'plumber' who lived in New York named Mario decides one day that he was going to save a princess named Toadstool from being um.......................... I don't know by a Turtle named Bower. And that's the entire story in the end you do save the princess but the story really doesn't do anything at all, its just there to be there and whenever you finish a dungeon you save a toad not the princess and he thanks you bout after 7 times of that you wish you would get something for saving that lazy, stupid woman!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But you don't so what's the point? There isn't one and that can be REALLY annoying in the end, but hey if you don't care about that stuff then well I guess you wont care about that stuff now will you? So the storyline doesn't really have one but it tries a bit and does it to the point that wish you would get something for your troubles but you don't so the Story wont get a perfect 10 out of 10 but really a 2 out of 10.

What's the Depth? Well how deep is Mario's gut? Ok that has nothing to do with anything but I wanted to say something anyways, I personally don't think that a average platformer has that much depth but this isn't average this is Super Mario Bros. (don't ja know) so what does it have to offer? Well if you want to play all the levels then for a game of the time you have a decent amount to do and if you want to play some glitched levels then there's even more to do (if your into that kind of stuff), how many levels are there? Well there are 8 worlds and 4 different levels per world so there are 32 levels (wowzers right?) so there are a decent amount of levels to go through. And you can also go through them with a friend (you know if you have the money to have one, unlike me) because there is a 2 player mode which means FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not only that but you could play through the game as the long lost Mario Bro. Luigi (the occult fave right?) So there's always that for a rainy day am I right, or am I right huh huh huh. But sadly there really isn't that much else to be offered in the game you complete all the stages then you beat the game and don't really think, 'Man cant wait to do that again' but its still enough to want to go back to from time to time. So with all of that being said I still think for a first game in the series and for something that came out way long ago it can still get a Depth score of 6 out of 10.

So the Difficulty of a platformer could be because of stupid or terrible level ideas, because of stupid enemy placement or because its done right, well Super Mario bros is a bit of all in a way. What I mean is that there really isn't any terrible level design (so I lied, how do I live with myself?) but some enemies can be placed a bit annoyingly (bullet Bill, Hammer Bros.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) But there's also those times where you under or overshoot a jump so there is that. But when it comes to the controls, well it might be me but Mario feels a little bit loose but hey that could be just me,and the control lay out couldn't be anymore user friendly I mean all we have are the d pad, and a jump and run button so its gonna be hard to forget what button does what really. Even though the game might not be INSANELY hard but after a bit of time you will slip up and die and feel annoyed, then you will die over and over again because you aren't thinking straight then your grades slip, you get fired run out of milk, after about two weeks I get a phone call saying my rabbit is ready for pickup and no one wants that, but that's really the most annoying parts of the game (minus the milk part.) But really its not too hard of a game and I think the game cane be harder person to person so I think the closest score ill give it is a ~6 out of 10.

The game might be over 20 years old but the game still holds up pretty well, better then some modern day games which really say something about how this game was made and that just adds on to the extra awesome sauce that this game is smothered and deep fried in. The game may not look the greatest, smell the greatest or even walk the greatest compared to modern day games but we cant deny how many times this game has been remade or updated ad how good the series is heck the music's so good we keep the overworld theme for all this time. May you be a Sonic, Mario, Crash Bandicoot or what have you in terms of platformer fans, I think you should give the original Mario game some time and sit back with me and smell the freshness of those pixel bricks.

Super Mario Bros.-Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) Review   Bluey5
Introduction:Oh, the classical Super Mario Bros. Not only is this one of the games that helped the Nintendo get back on it's feet, it is one of the best platform games of all time! So of course, this game is a platform video game made and developed by Nintendo and was released for the Nintendo Entertainment System(NES) in 1985. This is also the start of the Super Mario Series! In this game, you control the renowned Mario and in a two-player game, his brother Luigi, as he or they travel throughout the Mushroom Kingdom to rescue Princess Peach from their arch-nemesis; Bowser!
Difficulty:7 Is this game hard? HECK YES! You will have a hard time with this game. A very hard time indeed. Without a save state system, who would be able to complete this game? It gets very challenging as the cliffs get higher and further, more unique enemies come into play, and more objects! With enough tries, you could get through the game. The hard levels are usually the 3rd level of the world. Well, at least for me it was. Besides, the best thing you can do is not get frustrated. This game is supposed to be fun! So have some fun!
Depth:8 There is tremendous depth in this game! So let's get started. So you take on the infamous role of the hero, Mario. Luigi could also be the hero, only playable in two player mode. The second player controls Luigi. You and the heroes main goal is to rush through the Mushroom Kingdom, withstand the gruesome attacks from Bowser and his minions to save Princess Toadstool. You move left from right through the screen and at the end you must jump on the flag pole to complete the level. It is rumored that you can actually jump over the pole!
The play-field has coins scattered everywhere for you to collect, and special bricks marked with a question mark, along with regular, breakable bricks. When these bricks are bumped from below, coins or a special item appears out of them. There are other secret blocks that contain even bigger secrets like more coins, access to a bonus coin room, or rare items. Most of these secret blocks are invisible! A mushroom is one of the items that comes out of the blocks and when collected, Mario or Luigi turns to "Super Mario" or "Super Luigi". This item makes them grow double their size and allows you to be hit one extra time and give you the ability to break regular blocks. You are given three lives to start with, and you can increase them! In order to do that you must collect one-hundred coins, collecting a 1-UP mushroom, bouncing repeatedly on a koopa shell, or defeating multiple enemies without touching the ground. You lose these by being hit to much, falling in pits, or time expires. The game ends when all lives are lost. But don't worry, you can attack enemies, like stated above. The main attack is jumping on the heads of your enemies, but you have to be careful because the way enemies responds to his varies. For example: stomping a goomba will result in the goomba's defeat. A koopa troopa will go in a shell for a short time, giving you the option to attack other enemies with it. They can deflect of walls, so be careful. It might hurl back at you and do damage, or kill you! The other way to attack is to throw a fireball with the fire flower. You can only throw fireballs when you get the item in "Super" mode. If you are regular, it will act as you getting a mushroom. It also changes the color of the character. The least common item is the Starman item. It is a star with eyes and if you acquire it, then you become temporarily invincible and running into enemies kills them. These items are usual found in hidden blocks and invisible blocks.
The game has eight "worlds" with four levels in each. The final stage of the worlds is a boss fight with a decoy of Bowser. You fight the real, tough Bowser at the end. These stages include regular stages, underwater stages, and stages underground. These stages contain different enemies as well. There are secret areas which mostly include collecting a big load of coins. You can also go in pipes to a bonus room and you can even find a wrap pipe that lets you travel to another world, skipping some tough hard ones!
So yeah, tremendous depth in this game. Didn't expect that did you?
Story:6
Same old, original story. You have to save the damsel in distress. Not really to interesting for most, but without someone to save, this would seem much less tedious and pointless now would it?
OR you could say that the Koopa King Bowser has invaded the Mushroom Kingdom and has kidnapped civilians and the beloved Princess Peach! He has flooded the Mushroom Kingdom with his minions and it is up to the Mario Bros. To stop him! They have to endure countless enemies and castles!? Will they be able to do it!? It is all up to YOU!
Which sound more interesting? Take your pick.
Addictiveness:8
This game could get old fast, but with how much it has to offer and how much depth is in this game is what makes you come back for more! There is a lot of things you can do with this game. You can compete with friends, beat your high score, complete the game in one run. The choices are endless.
Sound:9
The soundtrack is awesome. They have some catchy tunes in this game, and it really sets the vibe of the game. Especially the castle music. There is a song for almost every theme-typed level and the songs fit all of it.
Graphics:9
For it's time, the graphics were WAY better than it's predecessors and past games making the graphics on this one look great. Everything is portrayed very well. There is a few minor things here and there like some things being half invisible. But other than that, everything looks astonishing!
Overall:9.5
This game is just plain good. It is a great classic and should be tried by everyone, no matter what type of game genre you like.(Well maybe...) All in all, this game is close to perfect. Nintendo did a great job with this game and I am sure that you will enjoy it.
Thank you for your time. HAVE FUN!

Super Mario Bros Gamer Review   realplayer109
Super Mario Bros is a good game, but how good can it be?
Graphics 5/10
Well... compared to today's game graphics there really not much to say about this category. The graphics are only one solid color for each sprite, mostly because hardware capabilities were very bad back in the day. But this game could have done a lot better. Look at Contra, the graphics on that game was awesome!
Sound 8/10
The sound is the easiest to rate. The soundtrack in Super Mario Bros is very old school, making it sound awesome! But to be honest, every stage in a world has the SAME music. It's nice to hear, but really it's a 2 minute loop! Thank GOD Nintendo put different music on most worlds! I thought Nintendo would learn from the mistakes!
Addictiveness 10/10
A very addictive game, even if you have beaten the game already, it can still be very fun in many ways! Like most games, Super Mario Bros has a LOT of secrets. Most of them I couldn't find on my first try! Like the warp pipe! So many things to discover!
Story 1/10
I can't believe they didn't come up with something better! Start up the game, and what do you get? Straight into the game, no storyline or tutorial. Nothing! The only part that gives you a storyline is when you meet the toads in the castle, that's it nothing else (Except the end, but I'm not including that!) Even the badder games had a bit of storyline!
(My other reviews will include the Depth review!)
Overall 7/10
Overall, this game isn't bad. It does have a few flaws, but I can understand that when this is so old. There is a lot of replay value in this game though, so do check it out and let me know what you think of Super Mario Bros!

Super Mario, A name Ledgendary In gameing   megamanex
Super Mario bros... A legendary game to start a legendary series. The single most important game in history, Best selling plat former of all time. Many titles and rewards can be given to this game, and It deserves every one.
Graphics
This is an early game on the Nintendo entertainment system. For such an early game it looks remarkably good, but by older standards... It looks atrocious. Only one frame of animation, and structural issues on the sprites. But its an early game.
Sound
The audio on this game is, once again, Top notch for an early game. Not much else to say here.
Addictiveness
I've been playing this game for nine years on the original Nintendo Entertainment System. How's that for Addictiveness? Yeah, lots of replay value...
Depth
24 levels of wonderful 8-bit glory, not much by the standard of later Nintendo Entertainment System games... but this is an early Nintendo Entertainment System game
Difficulty
This game is harder than [CENSORED!!] I spent YEARS of my childhood playing this game and, until recently, hadn't beaten it.

The NES Classic We All Know   PixelBrick
Mario, Mario, Mario. From video games, a ton of merchandise, its own failed movie, cartoons, to cereals! Mario surely is the most definite video game character. And that's saying a lot too. He has the personality of a cardboard box and he always finds himself rescuing an airhead princess. For over 25 years, Mario has seemed to appear in the best video games of all time. They're good. Really good. So, why don't we look into the heart of video games? Super Mario Brothers for the Nintendo Entertainment System, released in 1985. Here is my review for this game...
So, about Mario. Since we're reviewing one of his first games, why don't I tell you about the origin of Mario? (If you've been living under a rock for the past +20 years). In 1982-1983, Nintendo released a game known as Donkey Kong. This game is fairly simple, but back then, it was huge. Every console at the time had the port of the game. In the game, you take control of the main hero, Jump Man. Jump Man needs to save his girlfriend, Paulene, from the main man himself, Donkey Kong. Later, the director of Donkey Kong, Shigeru Miyamoto decided to name Jump Man Mario after his office landlord, Mario Segale. (SEGAle...That isn't suspicious at all). Later on, Shigeru Miyamoto wanted to experiment more with Mario, so two more Donkey Kong games were made, one of which Mario is the villain himself. In 1983, the game Mario Bros was released for the Nintendo Entertainment System. The game revealed that Mario has a younger brother named Luigi, and that they're both Italian-American plumbers from Brooklyn. The Mario cartoons go into much more detail about this. And let me just state that this is one of the only two Mario plumbing games out so far..unless there's another I'm not aware of. So what did Nintendo do with the next installment? Created a legend in video game history. Mario may be weak plot-wise, but overall, the Mario franchise is HUGE. In the 80's, there was NOTHING like Super Mario Brothers (1985). Well, let's start with this game's story.
Story: 5/10
This plot is recycled and re-used in almost EVERY Mario game later on. This plot is also not very amusing, although this game is a 1985 game port. In a land known as the Mushroom Kingdom, there exists a princess known as Princess Peach/Princess Toadstool. A villain known as Bowser, a gargantuan turtle known as King Koopa in Japan, kidnaps Princess Peach with no resistance. Mario's goal is to bypass Bowser's turtle army, which are known as Koopas, his other minions, and finally defeat Bowser. Mario must bypass eight castles, which are basically just like the Temples in Adventure of Link. And that's all...this game has to offer plot-wise. Well that's a pity. Sadly, this is all I can say about the plot. Well, let's just get to the good part of this game. Its depth.
Depth: 3/10
In case you don't know, this game is a 2-D side-scrolling game. This game has a total of 32 levels, split into eight worlds. On the fourth level of each world, is the Temple, er, I mean, castle. Castles sure are the deadliest levels. Fire, bottomless pits a plenty, and even more fire. At the end of each castle, is Bowser himself. But if you kill him with fire, then it's reveal that it's just a miserable clone. Then you walk forward to reveal a Toad, that tells you that the Princess is not here. And you get to hear that SIX MORE TIMES. Let's start with this game's controls. You press A to jump, which you NEED to do. If you don't jump, you're not getting very far. If you hold B while walking, you can sprint. When I first played this game, every kid I've seen that played this game acted like the B button never existed, and it tor me up to see them play the game so SLOWLY. Come on, was it so hard to hold B while moving? This ability is practically MANDATORY if you plan on beating this game. In fact, I think it is. Anyways, throughout this adventure, you'll notice there's a lot of blocks in your path. Bowser has turned the kingdom's residents into blocks with his black magic. Well, that's what the manual said but- wait, wouldn't that mean Mario commits murder each time he breaks a block? But anyways, not only do blocks only add up to your pointless score counter, but in a lot of them you will find coins. If you collect 100 of them, you earn one life. Lose three lives, and it's Game Over. In blocks, you can also find power-ups. The Mushroom allows you to take an extra hit from an enemy, makes you bigger, and allows you to crouch which is executed by pressing Down on the Directional Pad. If you're still Super Mario with the Mushroom, Mushrooms will appear as Fire Flowers. Fore Flowers allow you to spit fireballs at enemies by pressing B. This is certainly a useful power-up. But how are these best used? Well, you can kill Bowser by using the Fire Flower. And twice in this game, you will come across water levels. There's Bloopers, Cheep Cheep, and Whirl Pools. Bloopers and Cheep Cheeps can easily be bypassed using the Fire Flower. Oh, yeah, you can use fire underwater. Heh. What? In a world where a fat man jumps high, Mushrooms make you larger, and turtles have a vendetta against you, did you at least expect this game to scientifically accurate? I can go on for hours about this, and I sometimes ignore this logic, but this FIRE UNDERWATER BUSINESS? NO!! Last but not least, we have the Power Star. You become temporarily invincible to enemies, and you can kill them by touching them. Now, Mario does jump high and run fast for a fat man, but his endurance is horrible. One hit and you're dead. Just dead. And sometimes when the one pixel of your foot touches an enemy, you're dead. The types of levels you encounter in this game that I have not explained are Underground levels and Over-world levels. Underground levels are dark blue, the same color as the Eagle Labyrinth from Zelda 1, and have bottomless pits, a ton of Piranha Plants, and can be cheated in so many ways. Two Underground levels in this game contain warp zones. These warp zones allow you to warp to a choice of the three levels in front of you. And if you use the 1-2 and 4-2 warps, you can beat this game in less than five minutes. I'm not even kidding. As if this game wasn't short enough. This game may have 32 levels, but this game is incredibly short. And if you want to make this game a lot easier, just use the continue cheat. Since when you get a Game Over, you restart at 1-1, the developers added this cheat that lets you re-spawn to the level you got a Game Over at. This game may be short, but Mario's control, and enemies you encounter make this game a little challenging. When Mario is running, he carries a ton of momentum, so when you let go of B, you're still moving at a fast pace temporarily. And about the enemies. Mario kills enemies by jumping on them or killing them with the Fire Flower. There's Goombas, Koopas, Cheep Cheep and Bloopers, which swim in water levels, Piranha Plants that pop out of most pipes, but don't come out if you stand next to the pipe or on top of them, which I'm not about to complain about, Bullet Bills, which come out of Bullet Bill Cannons, and come towards you at a fast pace, but has the weakness of a Piranha Plants, Fire Bars which are sticks of fire you can duck under or jump past, Buzzy Beetles, which are Koopas that are immortal to the Fire Flower, and last but not least, we have HAMMER BROTHERS. These guys will usually come in pairs and they throw hammers at you, jump up and down, and jump up or down layers of blocks. Now normally, these guys are a pushover. Usually, you can run right past them, but this one in 8-4 pulls no punches! He guards where Bowser is, and he's VERY hard to bypass. Do you know how hard it is to kill a Hammer Brother by jumping on it? Well, after bypassing that desolateness Hammer Brother..oh and Bowser too, the game is finally over when you re-unite Mario with Peach. Well actually, there's a second quest you can tackle, which replaces Goombas with Buzzy Beetles and those and Koopas move faster. But taking this quest is extremely pointless. I'd rather just move on to the next game at this point. And you also get a world select. That's nice. Well, with what I've talked about, it seems like this game offers a lot of depth. Well yes...and no. I know I've spent a considerably long amount of time summarizing how much depth this game offers, but overall, this game doesn't really offer much. But this is still a good game, but doesn't offer as much as something like The Legend of Zelda.
Difficulty: 4/10
A lot of people complain about how hard this game is, but honestly, this game is a total pushover. Mario's controls an enemy placement can let you down at times, but come on, you have to admit this game is NOT that difficult at all. Especially, when you use the NES Game Genie, the Warp Zones, let alone no cheats. The only part that's really difficult is that Hammer Brother I mentioned before. Overall, you shouldn't deal with much in this game.
Graphics: 6/10
For 1985, this game's graphics were huge. And I do admit I have to agree. I wouldn't say this game's graphics is SPECTACULAR, but the graphics in this game bring out the game very well. The atmosphere is colorful, I especially enjoy the gray color of the Castle levels, and this game is very bright. I can't think of anything else that hasn't been said about this game's graphics. Overall, this game's graphics are not great, but not bad.
Sound: 5/10
Musically speaking, I mean COME ON. Name one person who doesn't know the over-world theme. And I know a LOT of people who have never played video games, but know the over-world theme anyways. And this soundtrack doesn't really offer much, and the songs are short. Well I guess that's what happens when you play an 80's port, ladies and gentlemen. The whole soundtrack of this game:
Over-world
Underground
Underwater
End of level
Castle
End of game
Game Over Theme
Power Star Theme
Death Theme
Hm, saying this out loud makes me think, yeah, this game offers a lot in term of soundtrack for a 1985 port.
Replay-ability: 7/10
Since this game has decent music, good graphics, and this is an arcade game, this game can be pretty addicting. What makes this game even more addicting is that if you have a buddy along with you, you can play a 2-player game. Player 2 would be Luigi. You don't play at the same time, but alternate when one player dies. This was a very famous mechanic for 1-2 player Nintendo Entertainment System games. This co-op mode isn't what I'd call grand, but it is still very fun.
Overall: 8.5/10
Overall, I think this game is a masterpiece. This game has its flaws, but Nintendo did a great job on this game, and I do keep my word on that. This game is bright, addicting, has good music, and, well come on, it's Mario. To this day, I still play it on my Nintendo Entertainment System. (Or Famicom Disk Player, when I'm too lazy to get my NES out). If you're getting into video games, start right here. This is the average starting point of a gamer, and this is a good choice for a start. I cannot deny that. Well, this has been my review for...Super Mario Brothers.

An All-Time Classic!   BestGamer24
In October of 1985, The NES was released in the USA. After the Video Game Crash of 1983, Nintendo resurrected Video Games in America. One of the games that came with every NES when it was released was Super Mario Bros. Super Mario Bros became one of the most popular video game franchises in history. So, let's enter the Mushroom Kingdom, defeat Bowser, and save Princess Peach!
Graphics, 9/10: Considering this is the first NES game, and it's 1985, it's really good. Mario looks really good, Luigi is the same as Mario, but the colors are changed. While playing, you may notice small thing like the clouds and bushes are the same, just different colors. The enemies, such as Gombas, Koopa Troopa, Hammer Bros, and Bowser, look mean. The Worlds also change appearances. World 1-1 is sunny, World 1-2 is underground, where it's dark, World 1-3 is a lot of giant mushrooms, World 1-4 is in Bowser's Castle, and there's also a few underwater levels, where everything is, well, underwater. The graphics, or sprites, are very memorable. When Mario breaks a block, it shatters into pieces, or hits a mystery block, and you see the power-up come out, it's all very nice for the NES.
Sound, 10/10: The sounds in this game are among the most memorable in video game history. The Mario theme is one of the best songs in video game history. The music is awesome, and it's still good to this day. The sounds affects are awesome as well, from when Mario jumps, to when you stomp on a Gomba. Sound is perfect for an NES game.
Addictiveness, 8/10: This is a game that you'll most likely come back to. It's fun, and it's addictive. When it comes to replay-ability, there's not that much, but there's a lot at the same time. You can replay the levels and try to find all the secrets, or just try to find short cuts to beat the game faster. You can also find some glitches, and the famous 1up glitch, or the infamous World -1 glitch.
Story, 8/10: The Backstory is this: the Mushroom Kingdom was invaded by the Koopas. Bowser kidnaps Peach, and Mario hears of the princess's plight, and sets out on a quest to defeat Bowser, and save the once-peaceful kingdom. The koopas are capable of turing the mushroom people into bricks, clouds, and other inanimate objects. You really wouldn't know the story if you are playing it, but that's the story.
Depth, 8/10: This game has 8 worlds, each with 4 stages. From 1-1 to 8-4. There are some warp zones which you can use to skip to worlds, as well as some short cuts. Every 4th stage you have to go through a castle, fight Bowser, and save the Princess. But on Worlds 1-7, it's a fake Bowser, and the Princess isn't there, but Toad is there. When you get to world 8-4, you go through the final castle, defeat Bowser, and finally save Princess Peach. There's a good amount of depth, especially for a NES game. The power-ups are a Red mushroom, which makes Mario stronger, and allows him to take 2 hits, instead of 1. A Green Mushroom, which gives you an extra life. A flower, which gives Mario a special suit, which allows him to shoot fireballs, and finally, a invincibility star, which makes Mario invincible for about 10 seconds, and he automatically kills every enemy he touches.
Difficulty, 6: This game gets harder as you progress. The enemies kill you in one hit, unless you have the mushroom, you can take two. Every 4th stage, you go through a castle (I've already said this) where there's a sting of fire which can be easy, or hard to avoid. You start with 3 lives, and there's a time limit which can be either 200, or 300 seconds (there not really seconds, there sped up). To defeat Bowser, you have to jump over him, and get the axe, which destroys the bridge he's standing on causing Bowser to fall into the lava. What makes the difficult is you have to avoid the hammers he throws. The difficulty shouldn't be that bad if you're good at the game.
OVERALL, 10/10: Super Mario Bros. is one of the best games ever made. It sold 40 million copies, which was a record for about 30 years until it was broken by Wii Sports, which has 86 million. Overall Super Mario Bros. gets a 10/10.

NES Mario   Chubby2211
Hello Vizzed.com. My name is Chubby2211 and  I am here with a Retro Game room review. Just keep in mind this is the very first of many reviews in which I will write for the site so please feel free to give feedback below the review. But without wasting more of your time lets get this review underway.
The year is 1985. The North American game crash of 1983 had just taken place two years before and the game industry is still in shambles. But suddenly Nintendo releases a  brand new game which would go on to become the savior of the gaming industry. The mentioned game would end up being Super Mario Bros which was released on the Nintendo Entertainment System which helped lead the gaming history out of the dark times of 1983. But what makes this game so great? Well that is why I am here.
Graphics: 9. The graphics used in this game where terrific for its era. Even compared to end NES era games, Super Mario Bros boast the best 8 Bit graphics of the system. The beautiful and colorful backgrounds in the over world  segments and the dark and damp looking background in underground levels really bring the environment to life. Also the enemies are excellently crafted with different colors, styles of attack, and movement speed really make each enemy type fell unique compared to each other. This mixed with the previously mentioned backgrounds really help create the world we enter feel full of life. However what are graphics with out good music to go along with it?
Sound: 9. The classic melody of World 1-1. The catchy tune in which gamers of both the 80's and now can enjoy. All of the music that is played through out the game really help create the mood in which makes this game so great. The different songs that play as you travel world to world  the songs are varied enough to keep the player from getting annoyed while also being good enough to stick the mind of the gamer as they continue to help our plumber find his princess. Even with these amazing 8 bit tunes, how does the actually story that you play through compare.
Story: 5. Its a now commonly known tale. Plumber must save the captured princess from the evil bowser. So boring. However there is another side to this tale. King bowser has kidnapped the princess and has turned all of the citizens of the Mushroom kingdom into blocks, stones and other objects in a attempt to take it over. Now its up to our heroic plumbers must traverse the large kingdom combating the magic of the evil Bowser to take back the princess and kingdom. Now that makes the game sound amazing doesn't it. Even with this terrific intro which comes from the instruction book, the tale told just by game play alone is very over used plot and could throw some gamers for a loop. However what the game lacks in story it makes up for in Depth.
Depth: 9. For a old style NES game this game contains a lot of content. There are the previously mentioned enemies but there are also a lot of different power ups and other objects to be collected. First of are the 1-UP mushrooms. As the name implies, when grabbed, the player will gain a extra life which can be very useful against some of the bosses in this game. Another of the many power ups that were placed in this game is the fire flower. After one of our two plumbers grab this mystical flower, they will gain the power to shoot fireballs out of there hands. However these two power ups only scratch the surface of the collectibles
Coins also fill the platforms, lands, and skies of the kingdom on your amazing journey. These coins help you increase your high score and if you collect enough of them, give you a 1-UP mushroom. This makes them one of the most important objects inside of this crazy world our plumbers must explore. Even with all of these different items filling the screen, does the game keep you entertained and is it difficult.
Addictiveness: 10 and Difficulty: 8. This game uses all kind of different traps, enemies, and projectiles to keep the game difficult. These enemies grow in difficulty as the game progresses which can cause you to die more and more quickly. Usually in my experience, the third level of each world where the hardest and caused me to restart the most. Mentioning this fact, this NES staple, does not use the save system that we take for granite today. This means if you where to lose your final life on the very last level you would have to back to World 1-1 and be forced to completely restart the game. This however helps make the game more addictive. With the very vague story shown through only game play, it allows the player to create a little mental story to help them understand the over all arc. Also the wide verity of collectibles keep each session unique. It helps the players feel the need to explore a level instead of just rushing straight through it.
So there you have it. The game that single handily resurrected the gaming industry. Compared to other games of the same year like Legend of Zelda (Another awesome game 9.6) and Tertris (9.4) Mario really helped create the platforming game type which is still quite popular to this day. Without this game, the creation of many other incredible games became a reality and helped keep the gaming tradition alive for decades to come.

Mr.video game starts his legacy   MAX FORCE
So here we are with Super Mario Bros:
Difficulty:6
I would actually give it a 6.5 because world 1 to world 3 and half of 4 are just a warm up of what your gonna see in the future worlds
For instants world 2-3 and world 7-3 are one of the hardest levels in the game besides the finale one.But you only see those levels twice (four if you continue to play in the star world)so I don't see the difficulty in the that.I mean sure you might lose a couple lives but hey at least there are only put two of those flying fish levels.
The star world is basically the same thing but the game designers tweaked it to make it harder. The only thing the tweaked was 1:all goombas have been replaced by buzzt beetles.2:some jumps I think are a little bit more higher.3: I may be wrong about this one but a believe the flying fish levels, the fish come out faster. So some parts are hard some parts are easy.
Depth:8
If you count the star worlds there are 16 worlds total so yeah there's a lot of stuff in the game.
Anyway I love it how there are secret things in the game like in the underground levels if you stay up on the top of the levels and skip the pipe at the end of the level there will be three pipes that each lead to different worlds.Or secret 1-ups like in the beginning of world 1-1 and a couple others. There are also specific pipes that lead underground were there are coins and a hidden coin block. There are a couple other things but I don't want to spoil it for newbeis.;)
Story:7
Although it doesn't say there is a story but there is.to sum the story up,a plumber named Mario has to save a princess who was kidnapped by a koopa king,So now Mario goes on a adventure to save the princess.
The story is a little longer and more detailed so that's the short version of it.
Addictiveness:10
I gave it a 10 because once you start playing you cant stop.Even if you did you would be thinking "I wonder what would come next?"
and decide to see what happens by playing it again.
Once you think your done the princess will say something about another quest. Thus beginning the star worlds/levels.Then you'd probably say "WHAT MORE LEVELS!"and decide to complete the star worlds/levels.Even when you beat the whole game entirely the experience would be so fun you'd play it again.
Sound:10
For the systems back then the sound was awesome, clear, and fitting for the environment you are in in that time.
The game has only three music songs but they are catchy.I bet some of you have at least one in your head right now.:D
Anyway that's all I have for the sound.
Graphics:9
Back then in the SNES time the graphics on the game were great with the 8-bit games.
The characters look so cool like Bowser (called king koopa back then) and Mario and the princess.
They even brought 8-bit back with Paper Mario Thousand Year Door in the X-Naut base when you go behind a curtain and appear
8-bit.In Super Paper Mario 8-bit mini characters of the players will become a circular shield and when you grab a star you turn giant
and turn 8-bit.
Overall:9.5
To sum things up graphics are great, sound was catchy and crystal clear,it was very addictive back then and still is,the story was good,
the depth was very very deep and great, and finally difficulty was not easy but not that hard either. So
very good game you should play it if you haven't and those who have played it..well you'd experienced the awsomness of the game.

The Game that started it all...   StreetFighter
This game was the godfather of platforms. This was a game about a Italian plumber from Brooklyn who has to save an princess from the evil King Koopa, now known as Bowser.
Graphics - 9
Back in the NES days, these graphics were so intense. Even today, we still remember these graphics as awesome.
Sound - 10
The sounds in this game are still used in Mario games today.  The coin sound just stuck. The mushroom sound is a personal favorite of mine and nobody can forget that tune of when you beat the level.
Addictiveness - 10
Ok, you know you expect this rating for a MARIO game. Everybody loves this game and was rated most popular game in the world records.
Story - 7
Just like I sayed,  Its Mario saving the princess from bowser. This story plot gets recycled over and over and over again. So its a 7.
Depth - 8
So, this game had a lot to offer. 8 worlds, 2 players, millions of enemies and more. Its not like the games we have today like COD, Halo, but I don't care about those. This game is full of content.
Difficulty - 7
Now a days, its not so hard, but back in the 80's it was. We didn't know  jack about Mario back then. But now, theres so many of these games, I can't count them.
Overall rating -  9.8
This game is a really good game and I bet everyone agrees. So go get to bowser and save the princess. My orders.
Un till next time,
Bye!

Super Mario Brothers   DenzGamer135
Greetings, Vizzed! Welcome to my review of the video game available to play within the Retro Game Room of Super Mario Brothers! The video game of Super Mario Brothers had been created and published by the publisher of video games of Nintendo for the video gaming system of the Nintendo Entertainment System. I wish for Vizzed to greatly prefer and enjoy my review of the video game available to play within the Retro Game Room of Super Mario Brothers! ;)
----------
Overall: I do believe Super Mario Brothers is such an entertaining video game! My very own rate of overall of this video game must be six and seven tenths out of ten. Why do I think Super Mario Brothers is such an entertaining video game? Actually, it is simple. Excluding the rate of maximum of ten of overall, combining the rate of maximum of ten of graphics, the rate of maximum of ten of graphics, the rate of maximum of ten of sound, the rate of maximum of ten of addictiveness, the rate of maximum of ten of story, the rate of maximum of ten of depth, and the rate of maximum of ten of difficulty shall be equivalent to sixty. Excluding my very own rate of overall of originality of this video game must be six and seven tenths out of ten, combining my rate of ten of graphics, my rate of ten of sound, my rate of ten of addictiveness, my rate of two of story, my rate of five of depth, and my rate of three of difficulty shall be equivalent to forty. Dividing forty by sixty shall be equivalent to the six and six tenths. Rounding the repeating decimal of six and six tenths to the nearest tenth must be six and seven tenths. This is the cause of my rate of six and seven tenths out of ten of overall.
----------
Graphics: I do believe the graphics of Super Mario Brothers are excellent! My very own rate of graphics of this video game actually must be ten out of ten. Why do I think the graphics of this video game are excellent? Actually, it is simple. Super Mario Brothers had been begun to become mass produced throughout the year of 1998. Throughout that year, if anybody were to compare these graphics to any other video game, many would agree the graphics of the video game of Super Mario Brothers are excellent. Also, I do not mind the graphics of a video game. If I am able to play a video game without experiencing any graphical issue, then I do not mind. This is the cause of my rate of ten out of ten of graphics.
----------
Sound: I do believe the sound of the video game of Super Mario Brothers is entertaining. My very own rate of graphics of this video game actually must be ten out of ten. Why do I think the sound of the video game of Super Mario Brothers is entertaining? Actually, it is simple. Considering I visit the website of Youtube to sometimes listen to tunes of this video game, this expresses that I am unable to withstand listening to these tunes. Actually, my greatest preferred tunes of video games had originated from a video game of Mario. Also, sometimes I hum tunes of Mario to myself whenever I feel dull. This expresses that these tunes are catchy and liven myself. Anyways, this is the cause of my rate of ten out of ten of sound.
----------
Adictiveness: I do believe Super Mario Brothers is addicting. My very own rate of addictiveness of this video game must be ten out of ten. Why do I think Super Mario Brothers is addicting? Actually, it is simple. When I play this video game, I am never able to halt playing until I complete it, considering it is simple to commit so for myself. Also, considering the sound is entertaining, this is another reason why I discover Super Mario Brothers to be addicting. Anyways, this is the cause of my rate of ten out of ten of addictiveness.
----------
Story: I do believe the video game of Super Mario Brothers does not consist of a thorough story. My very own rate of story of the video game of Super Mario Brothers must be of two out of ten. Why do I think Super Mario Brothers does not consist of a thorough story? Actually, it is quite simple. I am certain everybody knows the story of nearly each and every singular video game of Mario. That story is Bowser or King Koopa kidnaps Princess Peach or Princess Toadstool and returns Princess Peach or Princess Toadstool to his castle. Then, Mario must complete a series of courses. Although, every time Mario completes a fortress, multiple Toads or one Toad, depending on which numeral world you had currently completed, that is the multiple amount of Toads or one Toad, that shall approach Mario. These Toads or one Toad shall repeat every fortress, "Sorry, but your princess is in another castle!" After that, you advance or proceed into adjacent world. Mario shall then travel onward to arrive within the castle of Bowser. From then on, he must safely make his way through the evil castle and conflict with Bowser once more before rescuing Princess Peach or Princess Toadstool. When Mario defeats Bowser or King Koopa, he shall advance or proceed toward the princess and rescue herself. Before they both return to the castle of Mushroom Kingdom, in this case, the princess, as always, kisses the cheek of Mario and then they return to their castle. Considering this story is consisted within approximately each and every singular video game of Mario, it begins to become a tad less intrigying each time. Although, it is an original and reminds of multiple things, I was unable to rate it one, thus I had rated it two. Anyways, this is the cause of my rate of two out of ten of story.
----------
Depth: I do believe this video game provides approximately half of the amount of depth of video games of extreme length to its players. My very own rate of depth must be five out of ten. Why do I think this video game provides only approximately half of the amount of depth of video games of extreme length to its players? Actually, it is simple. Considering I am able to complete this video game approximately beneath one hour, I do not believe there is much content provided. I have watched videos of Youtube of players speed running this video game within approximately five minutes and twenty seconds. This demonstrates that this video game is too short to be rated greater than five. Although, this video game is complete with multiple items, enemies, and obstacles, so it had felt mandatory to rate depth a tad greater than my original thoughts and ideas. Also, there are eight worlds included within this video game. There is not much scenery, but the active scenery is not even as exciting. It is dull and repetitive. I do enjoy when a fortress is completed, multiple Toads or one Toad, depending on which numeral world you had currently completed, approach Mario with the usage of a different strategy each and every singular time, I commend Nintendo for acting creative with that detail. Anyways, this is the cause of my rate of ?five out of ten depth.
----------
Difficulty: I do believe Super Mario Brothers is not such an difficult video game, although, it does have some of its obstacles. Anyways, my very own rate of difficulty must be three out of ten. Why do I think Super Mario Brothers is not such an difficult video game? Actually, it is simple. As I had mentioned earlier, I am able to complete this video game within approximately one hour. Second, I am able to complete courses within less than approximately one minute. Finally, I am able to pass the obstacles that are the "greatest difficult" throughout the video game without any issues. I mean, these conflicts involving Bowser are quite too simple and these basic enemies are not effective enough to cause much harm to Mario. These three reasons demonstrate that Super Mario Brothers is not such an difficult video game, but it does have minor moments of difficultness. In addition, this is the cause of my rate of three out of ten of difficulty.
----------
In conclusion, the video game of Super Mario Brothers is a decent one and Nintendo deserves to be commended for their excellent designage. Excluding my rate of overall, half of my rates are ten out of ten, which includes graphics, sound, and addictiveness. The remainder of the rates are not too great to cause the overall rate to rise. Anyways, Super Mario Brothers is an entertaining and excellent video game and I may not await another enjoyable time of playtime throughout itself.?I wish Vizzed had greatly preferred and enjoyed my review of the video game available to play within the Retro Game Room of Super Mario Brothers! Goodbye, Vizzed! ;)

Super Mario Bros Review   starwars293
Hello people this is starwars293. This time,I am reviewing Super Mario Bros for the NES. Ah yes, such a good classic. I also say this is another one of the best games on the NES(the other two being Super Mario Bros 3 and The Legend Of Zelda). I loved having to play this game when I was seven. I played the game on another site. I loved the whole game. It was amazing.
The graphics were also great. I could't take my eyes of the screen when I first played it(it was the same thing for me when I first played Super Mario Bros 3,I also couldn't take my eyes from the screen when I first played it). Some of the enemies were hard like the Hammer Bros and some of them were annoying like the cheep-cheeps and the koopas. It's like when you think the red koopa is gonna fall of,Bam! It turns around and kills me. I wonder why Nintendo did that.
On the first seven worlds, you think the bosses are actually Bowser. Well they aren't. When you kill them, their actual sprite shows when they are about to fall in the lava. There are some hacks of the game and a fan-made game called Super Mario Bros Crossover. It is a fan-made game where you play as different characters from different games like Simon Belmont from Castlevania.
There are warps in this game that lead you to another world. I kinda like it. For me,it's kinda cheating. I mean, really? Why would they add warps? Well,in my opinion, that's kinda cheating, but whatever. I would just play all of the worlds and all the levels. That would be fair for me.
They later remade Super Mario Bros onto the SNES called Super Mario All-Stars. They also remade three other games on the NES.They remade Super Mario Bros 2,Super Mario Bros 3 and Super Mario Bros The Lost Levels(in Japan, they call it Super Mario Bros two.So this is the actual Super Mario Bros 2). The one we have is just released for America. It sucks.
There are power-ups that help you in the game. You get only three power-ups in the game(they later add more power-ups in Super Mario Bros 3). One of those three power-ups is a mushroom. What it does is if you get one,you grow bigger. However, you can grow up to human size. So you would just use one mushroom. The second one is the fire flower. You can only get it after you use the mushroom. What it does is that you can shoot fireballs at your enemies. The third one is star power. You can use it to one-hit KO your enemies. So when a enemy tries to kill, they would die when they touch you. You can also get coins in this game. If you get 100 coins, you get one life. That is one way to get a life. Another way is to get a 1-up mushroom. Those mushrooms are hidden in the game. Now it's move on
Graphics-The graphics are pretty good really. They start to get better in future Mario games.
Gameplay-It's okay I guess. There isn't anything wrong with it. You just have to get to the end of the level and you beat it
Story-The princess is kidnapped by Bowser and Mario has to save the princess from Bowser. I wouldn't be surprised because the story is the same in almost all of the Mario games.
Difficult-It really isn't that hard. You just have to focus and you might be the game.
Depth-It offers the power-ups and the 1-up mushrooms.
Addictivness-I would so want to play this game again! Who would also want to play this game again? This is a really fun game
Overall-Super Mario Bros is such a fun game. It is really a great classic
Wrap Things Up-Super Mario Bros is such a fun and is a great game. I would play this game and so would you! If you play it,you will love it. You would be addicted to this game and you would want to beat this game so badly. I hope you enjoy this game
This has been a starwars293
Thank you for reading this review. You have been great

Super Mario Bros .   supercool22
Super Mario Bros. : Game Review
Release Date : September 1985
System : Nintendo Entertainment System ( NES )
What I know about this game ?
Super Mario Bros. was made in september 1985 ( very old game ) for the Nintendo Entertainment System ( NES ) and published by Nintendo , what i believe that this game was the first super mario game in the super mario series , its a very awesome game by the way , you get to play as Mario and Luigi ( even in two player mode ) and you need to rescue princess peach from bowser . I recommend you play this game because you will have fun playing Super Mario Bros. .
Graphics : 9
Super Mario Bros . was the first Mario game ( i think ) to be in color and because of that it has great graphics but since it was made for the NES its suppose to be in color or Game Boy Color . Any way the graphics are great for the time it  was made and its still great till this day .
Sounds : 9
This is my favorite catergory which is sounds or music . The music from Super Mario Bros. is fantabulous ( made up word ) . The sounds make it feels like you went back in time , all the way back to 1985 and I know some of you play this game when it first came out . Well thats it for this section lets get to the addictiveness . :D
Addictiveness : 9
Super Mario Bros. is a very addictive game and when i mean actictive i mean its ADDICTIVE . I could play this game all day 24 / 7 , 365 days a year ( maybe not ) but for me its addictive somethings you get tired of playing this game but you come back to play some more but its good not to play this game all day you need rest when there is excessive playing involved .
Story : 10
I don't know if there really is a story to the game but lets see . Basicually you have to save princess peach from that evil freak bowser by traveling through the mushroom kingdom  . You have to go through levels and all that and defeat enemies and what ever .
Depth : 8
Well the depth is great  , it offers a lot from defeating enemies , and going through levels , to trying to save princess peach and defeat bowser like i said three times already . ( every mario game is basciually the same thing , so deal with it people they seem to never change it and sorry for my tone their not trying to rude ) .
Difficulty : 8
the game is hard im not going to lie , and i bet all of you think that as well , you only have 3 lives and i usually die a lot becuase it has been a long time since i played this game .
Well its time to end it here , i hope all of you like my review and all have a great time :D .

super mario bros is a very nice game!   rikivizzed
ah,super mario bros.

Super Mario Bros review   G@mehe@d
Super Mario Bros was the game that saved the video game industry and has started many things. Read on to hear more! :D
GAMEPLAY A: This games gameplay will never be forgotten. I love how fun it is to find all the secrets in the levels. Also the controls are responsive and solid. Jumping on enemies is fun, and at the end of every world you have Bowser to defeat. Another thing that makes this game so fun is the simplicity. There's only one goal in mind and that is to beat the level. You don't need complex controls to enjoy games.
GRAPHICS B-: This game was released as an NES launch title so I'm not expecting the graphics to be super amazing. However the visuals are colorful and vibrant and that sure impressed people that were used to the typical 5 colors on screen in an Atari game. The graphics could improve but for this game being released so early in the NES'es life span I was not expecting super charge graphics or whatever.
SOUND A-: I will always like Sonic music more, but the sound in this game is incredible. Not perfect but pretty incredible for its time. The background music is memorable and is still heard today quite often. The sound effects are also memorable. In fact most Mario games still have them except they sound a bit better.
ADDICTIVENESS A+: Super Mario Bros is clearly one of the most addicting NES games I ever played. The extreme depth helps the addictiveness out alot. After you beat the game, you will be given a harder quest which is the same thing except harder. Enemies are faster and it will be trickier to find all the secrets. Speaking of secrets, the amount of secrets in the levels adds quite a bit of replay value.
DEPTH A+: There are 36 levels in the game. Each has plenty of secrets, and surprises. Like I mentioned above once you beat the game you will get to play it again with faster enemies. The amount of levels would have probably amazed any body who played this game. Most games back then only had a few screens that repeated over and over again.
DIFFICULTY MEDIUM HARD: The game starts out pretty easy. Then when you reach world 4 the difficulty kicks in.
OVERALL RATING A
TIPS
1. If you go to the top of the screen on levels 1-2 and 4-2 you will reach a warp zone that will take you to harder levels.
2. Collect as many coins as possible to gain extra lives.
3. Try to stay as big Mario because when your little Mario all the time you are risking your life!

The tale of the Italian plumber, the stolen coins hid under bricks, turtle genocide!   Kyle!
Super Mario Bros was developed by Nintendo, and was released in Japan in 1985 and was later sold in the US. This game had lots of platforming, and to what I know of, was the first platformer.  This game is the successor to the arcade game in 1983. This is one of the titles that really got Nintendo into the gaming business.
GRAPHICS: The graphics were colorful (Sometimes a little too colorful,) and exotic. I really enjoyed every zone and level just because of the scenery. This game at the time had very good graphics for the time and had very "interesting" scenes if I may say so myself. I mean, you play as a plumber who is Italian (I used to think he was Japanese) who punches blocks for money and brutally murder turtles while platforming.
This game was a very detailed one too. Even for a 8-bit game! At least this doesn't give little Anime fans seizures unlike another Nintendo Franchise (COUGH, Poke'mon! COUGH!). So this category receives the grade: 10!
SOUND: This game has one of gaming's most memorable tunes. The Mario theme! You can play that theme and just about anyone over 7 should instantly recognise it! The sound effects were also very interesting considering I never heard a game make sounds when you jump and land on the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) before! And at that moment the game was instantly awesome to me. Now some may say, "Man! That's BS! You should hear that!" Well, some games didn't quite have those features at the time, so why criticize it for something that made it unique? This category receives a 10 from me.

ADDICTIVENESS: This game is addicting because of one quality. THE CONCEPT! I mean, who doesn't love platforming, punching bricks (I recommend you don't do that in real life kids. Pro tip.), and waging a pointless genocide against turtles/koopas? I feel that the ridiculousness was what caught gamers' attention as most games back then where somewhat "whacky," but this game really set the bar pretty high! The grade for this is: 9! Sometimes I felt I was forcing myself to play some levels/zones I did not enjoy. But there's more pro's than con's.
STORY: Since when does the Mario franchise need a story? This franchise has earned respect because of how ridiculous it is and "goofy." Which seems odd to have such a good reputation for, but it has it's appeal to kids for that. The story there is in this game is the princess is captured, you gotta rescue her, and go through lots of levels and Zones. The turtle who captured the princess (Her name is Princess Peach) is named Bowser, not to mistaken for browser. I suffered 2 years of teasing for miss reading it.
DEPTH: This game has some pretty lengthy levels contained in the zones. I personally felt that the length wasn't AS long as it could have been, but you can only put so much onto the cartridge when making a game involving cartridges. The zones usually had different enviorments in the background, and you know you have reached the end of a level because you will see a flag. I remember making a save state just to try to hit the top of the flag and slide down. Which seems not as rewarding as it is.
DIFFICULTY: This game had some tough moments, considering I hadn't bought my PC Gaming controller for games. But you can still manage with the keyboard. It just takes time to adjust to keyboard-platforming (Never thought I'd say that.). The only difficult thing was sometimes seeing that one block you wanted to get a coin from, but couldn't reach... That always annoyed me. Especially because you only have one life left and you don't want to risk it. But the difficulty overall isn't that bad, great for people new or experienced with platformers! ~ Vladimir Torov Tourshev

Super Mario Bros. The Literal Take   mlb789
Super Mario Bros. is the most overly reviewed game on Vizzed.com, for a good reason.  This game started the phenomenon that is the Mario series.  In this game, you control a little plumber of a culture that I do not know.  You follow his journey over eight worlds to save a princess.  First off, how does he get from world to world?  Secondly, how is every world inhabitable?  And he does all of this to save a princess, which is later copied reused in a series called Legend of Zelda.  So, on Link's Mario's journey, you have to combat the evil boss Ganondorf Bowser a record eight times, which is actually a total of one because it is Bowser and seven Bowser clones.  After each world, you get to find one of Princess Zelda's Peach's minions loyal servants, the Toads.
Graphics 7:  It is an eight bit system, so the graphics will be bad.  But compared to other games, they are about par with them.
Sound 10:  I have heard three songs in the game.  One of them is legendary.  The Legend of Zelda Super Mario theme is absolutely amazing in how it was created and in how it sounds.  Also, the "boing" of Mario as he jumps is --in my opinion-- very cool and interesting.

Addictiveness 10:  This game is very hard to put down.  Whenever I played this game, I would play until I would lose all my lives about five times.  I love going for high scores and going for the end of the game (which I have never done without the help of my 3DS's save state function).  If you play this game, you should enjoy how addicting this game is.

Story 10:  WHAT?  I'M REVIEWING A GAME WITH A STORY?  While this game may seem like there is not a story, this game does in fact have a story.  In this particular game, the story of saving a princess would get a ten, because it is pretty original on the NES platform.  Any other game would recieve a 1 for not being original.

Depth 6:  There is a never ending part of this game, but it is so repetitive I could not give a ten.  Beat it once, then beat it again.  That is the only point to this game, except getting high scores.
Difficulty 9:  I had a horrible time beating this game, even with the save-stating option.  This game deserves to be called a very hard game, which is a quality in games that I like.  Only a person who is really a video game master will not have a problem with this game.

Overall 8.4:  The Legend of Zelda Super Mario Bros. is a very fun game in my opinion.  Even though all you do is jump and shoot things with swords fireballs, it is a very fun and tactically challenging game to play.  Not only that, but it is one of the classic games that anyone who wants to call themselves a true "gamer" has to play.

It's-a Me! Mario!   Itachi9695
Greetings ladies and gentlemen and welcome to Mario Month. This month, I'll be focusing on the classic Mario titles. (The American releases, so no Lost Levels, sorry...) It will end with a review of Super Mario World, but let's focus on this game first, shall we? First, a little back-story as to how this game came to save all of gaming. In 1983, an event known as the Video Game Crash occurred and continued on into 1984 and some of 1985. This crash in the industry was due to many factors, including terrible games like E.T. and Pac-Man for the Atari 2600, the fact that there were too many gaming consoles at the time, and all of the unofficial games for those systems. People were losing hope in gaming and thought it was a fad that was on the verge of dying. But in 1985, Nintendo released the Nintendo Entertainment System, or NES. The console, in America, was designed to look like a VCR, as you had to insert the cartridges like VHS tapes. The reason for this is because the video game crash was so bad in the US, that Nintendo had to make sure their console looked less like a gaming console. Along with the NES came Super Mario Bros. The game that pulled the gaming industry out of the crash. It has become the second best-selling video game of all time, just under Wii Sports. (No, I'm not kidding) Now, let's take a look at Super Mario Bros.
Graphics
For an early NES game, these graphics aren't terrible, but to be honest, they've aged a little. Yeah, their simplicity has kept them looking decent enough to still hold up, and I'm not comparing them to today's graphical standards (because that would be really unfair), but they can be somewhat hard to look at, especially with the updated HUD in the next games. The animations aren't very fluid, but this is early NES we're talking about, so I'll let it slide. There's enough variety within the levels so you can tell what type of level you're in. One thing I should probably mention is that the cloud sprite and the bush sprite are the same, just colored differently.
Sound
The music in this game one of, if not THE most recognizable video game soundtrack ever. The track I'm sure everyone is familiar with is the Ground Theme, you know you've heard it, probably about A THOUSAND TIMES, at least that's how many times I've heard it, be it a remix, the original, or a fan-made version, you've heard it somewhere. The other tracks include the Underground theme and the Underwater theme. You've probably heard these as well, maybe just not as much. I must say though, these are probably the catchiest tunes I've ever heard, all 3 of them. It still sounds good even today, I'm listening to the Ground Theme as I type. All in all, an amazing soundtrack.
Addictiveness
This game can be very addicting, there are secrets in this game that will keep you coming back for more. I would go into detail, but that would spoil the fun. Anyway, the point is, depending on how interested you are in finding these secrets, you could be playing this game for many years to come.
Story
There isn't much to the story, so here it is. One day, Bowser, or King Koopa, decides to kidnap Princess Peach, or Toadstool as she was called at the time. Why does he do this? I don't know, maybe the manual explains it. A very simple story as most are in platforming games, especially those on the older consoles. It's short and simple and gives you enough motivation to play.
Depth
There are 8 Worlds with 3 levels and a castle level in each totaling up to 32 levels. There are also plenty of shortcuts, the most famous being the warp zones. There's apparently one somewhere near the beginning of the game that instantly takes you to World 8. I haven't used it yet, but I may try it out at some point. There are many other secrets of course, but I either don't know where they are or just want you to find them for yourself, trust me, it's more fun that way.
Controls/Gameplay
The controls are very simple, the d-pad moves, you hold the B button to run and press the A button to jump. One piece of advice, use the run ability as often as possible, it's a heck of a lot more fun. Mario handles pretty well and the controls still feel pretty good to this day. There's really not much to talk about here, just that the game is still fun to play to this day. There are some moments where I'll feel like I slid a little bit too much because I was holding the run button, but that rarely happens so I won't hold too much against this game for that.
All I have to say is this: If you haven't played this game yet, DO IT NOW! In my opinion, if you want to call yourself a true gamer, you have to play this game at least once. Why? Because it's this game that allows you to play all the games you get to play nowadays. Everything that exists in gaming today, be it Sonic, Call of Duty, Zelda, Halo, or any other game, it all exists because this game does. Heck, this website exists because of this game and for that, I truly owe my deepest thanks to the great men who made this game possible, Koji Kondo for composing the catchiest music known to man, and Shigeru Miyamoto for creating this masterpiece of a game. With good graphics, good control, and the catchiest songs ever, I give this game an 8 out of 10. I know this may seem a little low, but I think you'll see why when I get to the last two reviews of the month. Until then, PEACE!

A Super Mario Bros NES Review   pacman1755 (old)
This game is quite a classic game, and here is how I review it:
Difficulty: 8/10
The difficulty can be both pretty easy to pretty hard, the difficulty changes to easy to hard as you progress through the game, so it isnt random difficulty.
Depth: 8/10
The length of the game is alright, 8 worlds with 4 levels each, which makes 32 levels in the entire game, which is pretty good for an NES game, not too long, not too short.
Story: 7/10
The story is pretty basic, and just like any of the Mario games, Princess Toadstool (Peach) is kidnapped by King Koopa (Bowser) and Mario must fight through the Koopa Troop to get her back.
Assictiveness: 10/10
I always loved playing this, and I can keep playing this for hours over and over, it does not get old.
Sound: 8/10
The sound effects and music is pretty good and that is why it is pretty famous, it is catchy and it can get stuck in your head, it is pretty addicting humming the tunes.
Graphics: 7/10
The graphics are kinda basic, I seen better graphics on the game, the Japanese version of Super Mario Bros was really great, it looked like a Mario game, the US version isnt bad, but it could have done better.
Overall Game rating: 9.2/10
If you didn't play this game yet, you should go play it, so I reccomend this game. Go play it.

Super Mario Bros. - An Awesome Game - Bane7   Bane7
Super Mario Bros is the best game I've ever played in my life. I think that it has a lot of cool things, like the Minus World glitch because it is a never ending world unless you use a level editor. Other great things include the variety of the worlds and enemies because they are so diverse. The enemies are my favorite part of the whole game. Let's see if I can get them all in here. There are Goombas, Koopa Troopas, Koopa Paratroopas, Hammer Bros, Bullet Bills, Podoboos, Firebars, Piranha Plants, Bloopers, Cheep Cheeps, Buzzy Beetles, Lakitus, Spinies, False Bowsers (Worlds1-7), and the real Bowser (World 8 only).  The power ups are super cool. The power ups kind of work in an order like so - if you get the mushroom you grow big, but if you get the Fire Flower while big you get fire throwing power, but there are two catches. The first one is that if you are big and the Flower comes out of the box,  but you get hit and you are small the Flower will only turn you into Super Mario. The other catch is that when you are Fire Mario and you get hit you revert back to Small Mario. There are hidden Warp Zones also. I will give a hint to new gamers at this game that they are all in underground levels, which there are only two of. There are also hidden coin zones in levels which can be reached by pipes to be taken underground, or climb a beanstalk to go above the heavens to Coin Heaven.
In my opinion there are no super horrid things about the game. The only bad thing about it I can think of is that you start out with three lives and if you were in the final World 8 castle and you lose your final life you have to start over at World 1.
The difficulty is about 5 because it's not super hard, but it can be a little hard at some parts of the game.
The story is pretty good too. I gave it a solid 9.
The game depth offers a lot of fun playing the game. Depth gets a 10.
The game to me is SUPER addicting. I gave addictiveness a 10 because of this.
The sound is pretty good too. I give sound a 9.
The graphics are just so cool to me because they are retro 8-bit graphics. I give graphics a 10.
Overall the game gets a nice solid 10. It is one of the best Mario games in the Mario game series' own history started with Mario Bros in 1983.
That is my review of the game. If you can get it in real life I recommend buying it. If you don't have an NES but you have an SNES you could buy Super Mario All Stars because it has Super Mario Bros on it. If you don't have any game system that you could possibly play this on just play it on this very website named Vizzed that you are on right now reading this review about Super Mario Bros.
That's all I've got for it now. Bye!

Super Mario NES Rules   Zacharyp10
This game is an instant classic and it's hard to say anything bad about it but let's start the review.
Even though this is a 8bit game the graphics are very nice there's a variety of enemies and blocks (etc) and they look rather nice.
Now the sound of this game is fairly good although it can get a bit repetitive but the addictiveness makes up for that I give the addictiveness a perfect 10 you'll defiantly find yourself playing this again. The story's nice but it isn't mentioned as much as I would like but the story is your Mario a plumber who has been alerted the Princess Toadstool has been captured and it's up to you to save her.
This game offers I lot from mushrooms and fire flowers to shortcuts and a lot of great enemies.
The difficulty is pretty hard I'm on 8-1 but if you shouldn't have a problem if you practice. Overall I give this game a 9.5 and recommend it to anyone.

A STUNNING CLASSIC   sjorsxd918
Hello this is my first game review.
I've chosen this game because it's a very good game for the NES, if it would comes out now it is just crap, but during those old days this was like the ultimate graphics(the thing I want to start with.)
Graphics: If You look at this game you probably are going to say :''OMG, this is really worse, how can You ever in you're life give this crap a 10?" Yes its crap because you play only new games. When this game was new it was maybe the best graphics that you could make those days, I mean, come on this was more than 20 years ago man shut up and play this game!
Sounds: This is my all time favourite part of this game, I like every sound and every music. The music is made by Koji Kondo(!) my favourite song writer of my whole life, he write so much, but for him this was one of the first games he made music for. He is so genius I can listen all day long to music made by him.
Addictiveness: Once you have started this quest to save the princess you'll made it to the end before you stop! No serious you can simply play this for like 3 hours(there are people who can complete this game in less than 5 minutes, and you are trying for 3 hours).
And if you finally completed this game there are more things to do!
-Try speed running this game without deaths!
-Complete 'hard-mode'
-Try do every single glitch(it's fun, try it.)
Story: What, serious a weak point in a good, fun, epic game like this! WHY?
The answer is simple Bowser kidnapped princess peach and you have to rescue her. That's all no extras no side quests or missions just run into this freaking game and safe the princess her butt. But this is the story of all Mario games and it started all here.
Depth: What, stop it not another stupid weak point, that can't be true!
Yes its true another weak point, but I said before this game is fun and great. But its just not big enough for me, I mean come on, multi-player mode, and you can't play together that's the biggest s*** load of crap ever! You can't call it a multy-player anymore.
And the hard mode is only a bit harder and jeez just go and play a harder game if you want that.
Difficulty: This game is hard for some people (like me) and easy for others. But if you train enough you can be a real master in this game.
It'sa hard game in my opinion but I beat it once (feels really good on that moment)! But really in this game you're not going to train your character but yourself and that is weird I guess but it's cool too!
My  Experiences: I know this game for a really long time, not because it's old, but because it's a excellent classic that everybody should play.
When I cleared this game for the first time it feels great. It's a moment in your life that you only can met once each game: beat a classic game for the first time. It's awesome I mean my parents were playing this when they were like 16, and I play it now too, only because this epic site.
Well this was my first review I guess, bye!

Mario!   Mobouis1

This the farther of the Mario platform games. A lot of people still like to play this game because it is so fun to play.

Overall: 9 The game is classic with it music and the graphics. You shouldn't miss out on this game or the it's squeal.

Graphics: 10 For a nes game the graphics is pretty good.

Sound: 9 The game have great music that go along with the level and the sound effect fit the game perfectly.

Addictiveness: 9 I would play this game a long time, because it so fun to play.

Story: 7 You know the story of most mario games. Browser kidnapped the princess and you need to save her.

Depth: 6 Most nes game don't have a lot of depth but it keep you busy for a while because it got 32 levels unless you take a warp pipe.

Difficulty 6 The game can be difficult in the later world if you don't know how to play, but the game is easy once you get hang of the game. Any way the only way to kill enemy is to jump on them or use fireballs. So that won't be hard for you.

Super Mario Brothers   ProGamer135
Well, this is my retro game review about Super Mario Brothers. Of
course, Princess Peach had been nabbed by the evil dinosaur, Bowser.
Bowser is always committing a mischievous event. Bowser doesn't know
when to lay off for awhile. Anyways, the retro game features eight
average difficulty worlds. Let me post about the eight worlds.
World One- World one is simple. It includes three important items---the
mushroom, fire flower, and the invincible starman. World one has four
stages exactly similar to the future worlds. The stages included inside
world one are extremely simple. On world 1-2, there is a hidden warp
area. If you don't know about this, I won't explain where the location
of the warp is. I will describe it, though. There are three warp pipes.
The first warp pipe travels to world two, the second warp pipe travels
to world three, the final warp pipe travels to world four. I used the
world four warp pipe. I enjoy dashing through world four. There are more
warp areas in the future, but I forgot which world it is included
inside. Now, let us travel to world two using the warp pipe. *Enter
Pipe*
World Two- This world is highly similar to the first world. All the
stages are simple, there are four stages, and you may dash through the
stages. World two is an exotic area with many simple obstacles. You will
most likely meet more enemies along Mario's adventure to rescue
Princess Peach. There isn't much to explain about world two, so, let us
travel to world three. *Rescues Two Toads*
World Three- World three is a more difficult area, but not as difficult
in the future worlds. The future world will be explained in the... Um...
The future?XD Anyways, world three is an exotic world with many
different enemies, items and objects, and certainly more difficult
obstacles. There isn't seriously much to explain about world three, as
it is similar to world two. Although, there is a course that includes a
Cheep Cheep Generator. I forget which course numeral that is. Onward to
world four.
I seriously halted playing when I had reached this world, although, I
remember the this world and the future worlds because I own Super Mario
Brothers. I don't want to explain the worlds anymore, but I will explain
about my ratings and those type of topics.
The overall of this retro video game would have to be astounding because all of the content included in this retro video game is astounding just similar to the overall. I seriously enjoy everything I had rated above. There isn't seriously a story to Super Mario Brothers, besides rescuing Princess Peach constantly away from Bowser.
The graphics aren't as sharp as I had expected, but it is an original retro video game. I seriously enjoy the appearances of Mario and the enemies he must face in order to complete his rescue adventure to rescue Princess Peach away from Bowser. I seriously enjoy the appearance of Bowser, too. When he tosses hammers at Mario, I enjoy the hammer appearances.
The background soundtracks grasp such a catchy tune, as I always constantly repeat. Anyways, I seriously think the background soundtracks that grasp such a catchy tune compare perfectly with the background scenery of the stages included inside the eight worlds.  Bowser's castle is where the action background soundtracks occur.
I will most likely give Super Mario Brothers a go, again. It is such an addicting retro video game. If you would enjoy learning why, please read over the words I had typed above. The items and objects are astounding and I enjoy their appearances. I should have mentioned the graphics area above, but I am currently lazy.
There isn't such a great story. Princess Peach becomes imprisoned by the idiotic dinosaur named Bowser. Mario must start a rescue adventure to rescue Princess Peach from the large dinosaur named Bowser. By the way, this occurs routinely, so don't worry about this area.
The depth is decent. Super Mario Brothers doesn't include much extensive content. I just play the retro game. A Youtube user created a Youtube video with him completing Super Mario Brothers in five minutes and nineteen seconds. That is just astonishing to take such a gander at.
The difficultly isn't such a large numeral compared to zero through ten. Anyways, the courses are highly simple and are seriously awesome. I had mentioned above that the courses are simple and are loaded with many hidden warps and warp areas. Good luck playing Super Mario Brothers if you decide to give this retro video game such a large go. Plus, I highly recommend this retro video game to every Vizzed user who seriously enjoys playing Mario video games. Good luck!:D
This has been such a large review and I can't wait for many replies. Thank you for concerning, I am planning ti create multiples of retro video games reviews, and I wish to express that this retro video game included in the Retro Game Room is such an awesome original. Good luck with your future areas and be careful on Vizzed, all users!:D

Super Mario Bros Review   chaoticsonic
Hi I'm Chaoticsonic and welcome to my Super Mario Bros for NES review
Origins: In the 1980's, the video game industry was starting to die and probably would have had it not been for two men by the names of Shigeru Miyamoto (nicknamed God of Video Games) and Takashi Tezuka (nickname Ten Ten) who, with a couple other people, created the platformer Super Mario Bros for the Nintendo Entertainment System. In making the game everybody LOVED it, making it the most bought video game (40 million units!) until 2006 came Wii Sports.
Story: In a magical world is a place called the Mushroom Kingdom which is ruled by Princess (Peach) Toadstool, is kidnapped by the evil Koopa King Bowser. Enter the "plumber" Mario who is willing to fight Bowser, his minions, obstacles,  and a LOT of platforms all for the goal to save the princess.
Graphics: This game looked amazing back in 1985 and while nowadays it didn't age well, it held up great for the NES. The environment changes from stage to stage, varying from a nice plain setting, on top of Mushroom platforms (hence Mushroom Kingdom), under water, underground, to lava filled castles.
Music: A very memorable soundtrack creating classics that are brought back many times in future games. The Mario Bros theme song is energizing and makes you want to dance to, the under water theme is calming and would even calm down the Hulk, the underground theme which is basic but you can't help but tap your foot to, and the castle theme is foreboding that makes you want to get to that axe at the end. Never forget that game over piece.......... bad memories.
Addictiveness: if you played it once, you will most likely play it at least twice, and maybe 3 times, even more if you were a 80's kid (not me, I was born in 1999, but still played this game twice). Once you hit Start for this game you will not want to stop until you beat it.
Depth: A VERY linear game, of course its a 2d platformer. It wont take to long to beat it since It has only 8 Worlds, containing 4 Stages a piece, which usually starts with the basic plain setting, the second stage underground, the third a very fast paced level, and always ends with a castle. This game shouldn't take too long depending on how good you are at these type of game (I suck). The only thing you can look for are coins that after collecting 100 you get an extra life, and power ups, varying from a Mushroom giving Mario an extra hit, a Fireflower that shoots fire balls, and a Star which makes you invincible for a short time.
Difficulty: The game starts easy enough to get you started, but It will test you, and if aren't a quick learner for the as a call "icy" controls, expect to see the game over a lot. But, if you get a game over you have to start form the BEGINNING! Please use save states if you have a hard time.
Overall: a good start to the Mario franchise you have to play at least once to see the start of it all. Will always hold a special place in millions of gamers hearts for years to come and paved the way for the Platformer genre.

ahhhhh mario this was the first nes game ive ever played well it couldve been everyone's first because it waspackaged with the nes. This game has graphics and music you will remember forever. This game is really addictive the only flaws i see in this game is that the story is bland you know a person saving a girl from a monster yuou know regulaar stuff and i really hate how toad tells u that peach is in another castle and the last thing is that the final boss bowser is too easy to beat like how you can just jump over him or destroy him with fireballs or something, and also the game is easy but it can get really hard. But either than those, the game is fun,and its also a unique, fresh idea and mario would became the icon of nintendo and gaming itself he was the perfect rival for sonic the hedgehog

The Greatest Video Game Ever Created   hidood5th
Graphics: Set the standard for the system, not the best, but great.
Sound: Sound Effects are iconic and perfect, the Music being completely unforgettable.
Addictiveness: Maybe not that addictive, but a great classic to keep on playing.
Story: Sound like some stoned drunk made the story.  I LOVE IT.
Depth: 8 worlds, 32 levels, 8 castles, 2-player mode, it has everything you need.
Difficulty: Perfect, not to hard, not to easy, just for the casual 80's gamer.
Overall: The Greatest Game Ever, we would be without video games without this 8-bit masterpiece.
All video games are influenced by this treasure.  No Zelda, Chrono Trigger, Final fantasy, halo, Kirby, or even Pokémon game can stand up to the legend that is Super Mario Brothers.

Super Mario Bros   dazzsheil
The Nintendo Entertainment system. The Grey box. Everyone should know the NES And what defined it: Super Mario Bros. Now,this review is a bit IGN Style so HERE WE GO:
GRAPHICS: Unlike anything on ANY System at the time,Super Mario Bros had the most beautiful graphics of any video game At the time, utilizing the NES To its full
SOUND:Almost everyone knows the famous SMB Theme but that Castle theme does get a bit repetitve after a while
ADDICTIVENESS: High Scores, 2-Player modes,Constant secrets, SMB Is one of the most addicting Video Games of all time and is never outdated by any standards, even by the Great Super Mario 3
STORY: While saving the princess was cool back in '85,it has gotten a bit redundant over the years
DEPTH:It will take you about 1-3 hours depending on your skill (some people do it in 5 mins)but with tons of secrets and glitches,SMB is a mixed bag
DIFFICULTY:Really pushes you to the limits in the last few worlds,Super Mario Bros is not cakewalk near its Climax
Well, that was my Super Mario Bros review, hope you enjoyed my IGN Style Review! :)

lets start this review this game is one of the main clasics if you want a game play
this........many people would say its a classic because of the new games on the wii
new smb but forget its a major classic and start the graphics are ok not pacmania graphics
but ok, to say the least, controls umm........... very smooth, very addictive, fun, awesome.
now lets go back in time for the story its the 80s story line cut scenes were amazing as
a Xbox its awesome story the imagination is spot on game play is easy but hard hard in a good way not super super hard but hard in a fun adictive way i mean its a clasic i know!
It also showed the world the graphics and capacity of the NES without this game video games
would have no structure story or meaning. you play as mario smasing blocks to get mushrooms,
flowers, whitch you can shoot fire balls when you get hit you get smaller you can get bigger by going through pipes, and pipes that can skip further then walking your objective is
to stop the boss

Never gets old   polo5885
Hey guys and welcome to another game review,  today I will be reviewing a old classic game! Mario! Its one of my favorite games so lets get started!
Graphics 8 - Pixel graphics, great for its system the animations are also great. The way the characters walk are not to choppy there smooth and good so I think the graphics are really good so I give it and 8.
Sound 9 - Very catchy, I bet you all know it if you have played Mario. It has good vararity and inst repetitive. The water music is soothing, the world one music is good and I really like it when you run out of time and it goes really fast. It is really awesome so I give it a 9.
Addictiveness 9 - Very addicting it has really good and different level designs so it doesn't get repetitive. It gets really fun but sometimes in can get quite hard!
Story 6 - About a plumber saving a princess simple story they don't really go into it in this game.
Depth 9 - I really like the depth for this because it has so many levels and worlds it is amazing! It takes a while plus there aren't save points so you have to start all over a lot.
Difficulty 7 - Quite hard because there is no save points unlike most games we are used too. But after you get used to it can get very is. Controls are very simple and easy to learn nothing to hard
There concludes my review its a cool little game that brings some nostalgia if you play Mario games. Again thanks for reading and comment what I should review next see you then!

A classic and true adventure to all a great Game in history :D   SuperCrash64
Alright for those that  Didn't now Mario was not Mario at all . What I mean by this. Is Mario was Actually A character you played as In The original Donkey Kong. His original Name was Jump man Then Nintendo Later renamed him To Mario later on, They did the same thing with Peach Peach's original Name was Pauline in the Donkey Kong game. Then Nintendo Decided to Give Mario A  brother by the name of Luigi. Thus Mario Bros the 1983 arcade Game was born. This is not the same thing on nes no. Like Most Games back then Mario Bros would just have a 2 player option until you die And end up with the Highest Score So it Didn't really evolve into A actual series at that point. Like most arcade games Mario Bros The Arcade game would spon Many Home Ports on various systems. But Then There was once upon the time Nintendo Was finally getting into the us market business. So finally they Made Mario bros Nes.
This is My review of the game.
Plot This plot is the actual beginning of Mario Bros. Yet is similar to donkey Kong 1. A koopa king by the Name Of Bowser. Kidnapped the Princess of Mushroom kingdom peach. To trap Mario and take him down with the help of his minions. And take over the Mushroom kingdom
Graphics
As fair Of Mario Bros 1 Looking at the graphics of the game. Exactly when nes and master system came out. They were powerful bad boys at the time. They just did not Have a lot of colors like the later on 256 on the Super Nintendo But even with that this games graphics styling are good. As Fair as Sprites Goes for an 8 bit system being this was an original game back in the day. They look really good. Although 1 thing I must mention that Mario and Luigi Look like oompa loompas lol. But then again its very understandable. Their animation is really smooth and Fluid For a 8 bit system.  The Backgrounds are equally as good. The clouds are very nice looking .Stages have a great number of details.everywhere that its really nice for this system. Graphics gets a 9. They look really nice considering the 8 bit system color capabilities .
Sound  Now you might say. Ugh its just a repeating jumping and coin sound effects. Theres no voice acting at all just text Well 1 thing I would say to that person. Well this is old school man. Sound techlongy was not nearly as advanced as it is today. It may be repeative but for the Time it was released this was very a common thing in arcades. Soundtrack. Well theres nothing I can really say 2 much but this music has come to the heart and memories of many gamers back in the day because it was so special not hearing the bloops or boops that early arcades and master system had. This was a full composed Soundtrack. And like most own franchise's it had its own style to it. Even with that it was  pretty advanced for the time too for the full composer of the songs. That made this 8 bit game So memorable. Sound gets a 10 .
Addictiveness.  I love this game for the Addicting Challenge and smoothness it gives. Only thing that really annoyed me was The Repeating of Toad Saying Thanks Mario but our Princess is in another castle . Yes it was annoying but understandable since they had to make this game very long and enjoyable to play. Addictiveness gets a 9. This game would best be enjoyed with a second player controlling Luigi then again most games seem most fun when you have a buddy to tag along and join.
Story explained it in Plot I would naturally rate it a 5 because it got reused but sense this is the begging point of the series I will rate it a 7. Nice storyline al thoughts been reused multiple times.
Depth Really theres eight worlds with alot of shortcuts and sweet things to do. Even when your done it seems like you ill can still repeat this game. Depth gets a 10 lots of things and stuff to do.
Difficulty 6 . Its pretty easy in the beginning. But later on it will get pretty tough I often got stuck on some levels. Until I figured ed it out. Controls work perfectly and very easy to use.
Final ratings a 10 this is just a pure heart classic. 1 that defiantly needs to be checked out epically for those newer gamers.

Super Mario Bros-The start   Blue_Dust
Aaah who can't remember those days where you just spent hours in-front of the TV playing Super Mario Bros trying to figure out how to win?A true classic that gives the start of the side-scrolers
Graphics are nice. This was one of the first games to be released for the console and it has really great graphics for an early Nintendo game.Allot of the interesting facts is that you can easily abuse with the colours of the textures which is also found in the negative worlds.Only few have the cartridge with the negative levels of Mario,I'm one of those people.I have to say the game offers quite some nice graphic experiences.[10]
Sounds really great.Pretty much the sounds and music keep you going as you keep scrolling around. The fireball and power-up sounds make it even better as you enjoy hearing them every time you press the fire button.Mario's jumps are great to listen to and at some points I only hope the music motivates me to complete the level.[10]
Addictiveness is big. This game is just really old and has a large replay value.I will always save up some time to play it.I'll set my Nintendo, put the cartridge and play some Mario.[10]
Story is basic.I can't really say allot about story and that's why I rate it low. It's pretty basic really, save the princess by stopping the bad guy.Just some basic stuff. It has a different story and does not follow what is the story of the Super Mario Bros movie.[4]
Depth is something I can't say it's lacking of but after a while it just gets sorta....old.There are pretty much not allot of differences in the levels except once you stumble upon the few last worlds.Even though I have to say I still enjoy it as it's fun running over goombas and such.[7]
Difficulty is something that's just kinda though. The game offers quite some hard challanges. The most annoying and hard levels would be the water or the ones with the hammer bros. The final castle is REALLY REALLY hard! The maze in the last castle is kind of annoying and I have reached it and rage quit ed just because it was so hard to find bowser!I have to say that the land levels with flying fish weren't fun either nor were the Lakitu ones. It's a Nintendo game though so difficulty is always big.[9]
Super Mario Bros,a true classic and a nice hard game to play for nostalgia.

Super Mario Bros Review :)   claudevandog
Super Mario Bros is an epic classic made in 1985. This is the first time Princess Toadstool (Peach) gets kidnapped by King Koopa (Bowser). So its up to Mario and his brother Luigi to save her! There are 8 worlds, 32 crazy levels, and 5 different themes!
The graphics were really good for '85 and the music is outstanding! The story was new (even though now its really old).
In the game you must stomp on bad guys and break bricks with your fists! Grab a mushroom to grow bigger. Get a fire flower so you can shoot fireballs out of your hand by pressing Z. If you get a star, you will be invincible for a few seconds. At the end of the world (the 4th level in a world) you go in a castle. Some castles have multiple paths that might get you lost. At the end of each castle you battle a fake bowser (if you kill him with fireballs it will show his true form) until the final castle where the real bower is. When you beat Bowser in world 8, you save the princess. After saving the princess you can try the second quest, where the goombas turn into buzzy beatles.
After you beat the game, why not go to the secret endless level? To get there you must go to the end of level 1-2. For this you must be at least big Mario. break the second from last brick (DONT BREAK THE LAST BRICK!) standing on the pipe. Do a backwards ducking jump (this may take a few tries). If it works you should be sliding through the wall. Go in the 1st or 3rd pipe and don't go all the way to the right or it will be a normal warp zone. Pipe 2 takes you to world 5, and pipes 1 and 3 take you to the secret water level (the minus world, -1, etc.) This level is endless, so you will either have to get a game over or reset the game. Thanks for reading this review. Please rate it 4 or 5. Thanks for your support! ~ claudevandog

Super Mario Bros - an Old Classic Retested   yoyogamr
When people think of retro games, one of the ones that immediately comes to their mind is Super Mario Bros, and there's reason why, its one of the games that arguably saved the video game industry from the video came crash of 1983! But how well does it hold up today? Is it still a classic, or has it gotten old fashioned?
Graphics:
The graphics of the game are just plain AMAZING! For the time, it was ground breaking, and today, the  graphics still are appealing to the eye. Both the innovation and timelessness of these graphics give it a 10/10
Sound:
Oh, my, goodness. The sound is amazing! Not only is the sound quality revolutionary, the music is catchy and fits the levels. The music of the overworld is bright and catchy. So catchy that is has hundreds of remixes and orchestrations. But I personally like the castle theme because it feels like its infinitely building up and helps build up the stress that the levels generate. 10/10
Story:
The game's story is that Bowser kidnapped Princess Peach and Mario has to save her. It's not a great story but stories were never used too much in video games at the time, plus this was before it got so overused it isn't even funny. 6/10
Depth
While the game is linear, at the time, the game had a huge amount of depth! It had a lot of different levels and so many secrets, varying from a 1-up mushroom to skipping three worlds! 8/10
Difficulty
This game is HARD. It is one of the most challenging games I have ever played, in fact one of the reasons this game is so good is that its hard. It keeps you coming for more because you want to beat it, but you keep getting killed by "that stupid Goomba/pitfall." Every time you get past a level it really feels like its an accomplishment.  9/10
Addictiveness:
While the difficulty keeps you coming for more, once you beat the game, it can get a little bit stale. You might come back to mess around or make a glitch happen, but its replay value is a little low. It's not like Super Mario Bros 3 where the levels are so fun that you want to play them again. 6/10
Overall, this game is a blast to Play, amazing graphics and sound make the game appealing to the eye and ear, and the difficulty is there to keep you coming for more. Even though the replay value was a little low, I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a good challenge, but if you like more depth to your games, I recommend Super Mario Bros 3, or better yet, Super Mario World. Overall, this game gets a 8.5/10

Where it all started   kennethfrost80
Over view
Super Mario bros may not be the first Mario game but it was what started the modern Mario 2d platformers. There were a lot of down sides to this game but who can resist playing this game.
Graphics
For its time the graphics were pretty good you might think. Then when you look at games like Zelda, Kirby, or punch out you probably think what the heck happened. The graphics were pretty poor.Even for its time.
Sound
The sound was pretty good in this game.I mean it wasn't great.I got tired of the same music over and over again. The coin and jump sound was perfect.Making the sound in between.
Addictiveness
Yes it is a great game but is it really worth playing over and over again since the game can be beat in less than five minutes.(I'm not spilling the secrets). But hey who could resist killing koopa(bowser) over and over again.
Story
The story was quite unclear other than saving toadstool from bowser.
Depth
The game really did not go that deep.Bowser was the only boss. The only power ups were mushrooms, fire flowers , and stars. I mean where were the one up mushrooms.
Difficulty
No insults but this game is hard. Game over = start over game no mater what.
Conclusion
Super Mario overall is a good game.I have no problem playing it.

Hi once again! So I am reviewing the one that started it all.... SUPER MARIO BROS! Yes I have finally decided to review this game.Lets get to the ratings: Graphics:9/10 The NES has bad graphics of coarse but it does not matter on how bad it looks,it's the games. But this game's graphics are greater than any other NES game.Sound: another 9/10:The Mario jumping noise is Mario memorabilia! The 1-1 theme is famous! Addictiveness:8/10. I don't really play this allot Because I need to post stuff like this and Sonic the Hedgehog, but  if there's people playing this game (Mario fans)  they will play this....ALOT!  Depth: 9/10: The Mario series has always 8 worlds and when you get closer to world 8 it gets harder and harder.Difficulty: 8/10:Yes as i said on Depth it gets harder and harder. FINAL VERDICT or overall:9.9/10:Yes this game is the first home plant former. Bye and see you next reveiw: Sonic the Hedgehog!

THE GAME THAT STARTED IT ALL   mastersword321
it was that block. that invisible block in world 1-1 that contained the games first one up mushroom. that was was the block that told gamers that super mario bros was a special game. in 1985, we were used to games being very up front about there content, if there was an alien on the screen, you shoot it. if you were in a car, you drove it to the finish line. with super mario bros, it seemed like we were just supposed to walk to the right, break blocks, and jump on enemies. those preconceptions were shattered when we randomly jumped and accedentily hit that inisible block. suddenly, the game changed. we were no longer on a quest to save a princess, ( although that was still our primary goal ) we were now on a hunt to find every secret the game has to offer. how many invisible blocks were there? where are all the hidden coin blocks?  which pipes can i go in to find secret rooms? what would happen if i ran along the ceiling past the exit? super mario bros made many icons of todays mario stuff, mushrooms, goombas, coins, and lots more. i think, that this game is what made games what they are today. this is a very addicting game and i will play it untill i die.  so jump ( boooing!) into super mario bros today, and have fun forever.

Super Mario Bros.   pikmin124
Super Mario Brothers is one of the first Mario games ever. The story is that the princess (or Princess Peach) has been kidnapped by the evil King Koopa (or simply called Bowser). The game has 32 levels and a big amount of secrets. The graphics aren't the best, but it was the most that the Nintendo Entertainment System could offer. The game is not too easy and not too hard, with the exception of World 8 (for some players, like me) . I think people would play this every once in a while, unless if people just bought the original Nintendo Entertainment System cartridge or if they bought the game on the Wii Shop Channel. In my opinion, this game, Super Mario Brothers, is one of the best games of all time.

Super mario bro's review   minorman4
Alright, this is where it all started, it is where the plumber (who also is a carpenter from the arcade machine donkey Kong) goes to save the princess and stop the really evil king koopa. This was the first nes game I played on and I loved it to bits! Although, I was not that good at first ¬¬... I have the game and a nes, I think it is the best of Nintendo creativity for the nes and it is in my top ten games of all time. Me and my friends enjoy playing this game and always have fun! It will always be a remembered game and is the building blocks for one of the most recognised game series of all time! I would recommend this to anyone who likes retro games and likes the Mario franchise.
My summery: I would play this any day of the week and I would give this ten out of ten! If you are new to this game and not sure if this would be a good buy, IT WILL BE THE BEST GAME YOU HAVE EVER BROUGHT!

Super mario bros 1 NES   Stevie 764
You couldn't believe how good this is, going back to 1985 to experience such fun of Mario, it's a amazing game.
the graphics are great for 1985, it still goes great for such graphics and music.
the sound is great, I would sit and play Mario all day long!
it's addicting for greatness, and it is a huge success, there was even sequels of this game on different systems.
the story's great: Bowser, in the mushroom kingdom has kidnapped princess toadstool, and it's up to Mario and Luigi to stop bowser.
the depth of this ok I have to say, 32 levels to explore in the mushroom, 8 worlds with 4 levels each, amazing game!
the game's not hard, but it gets slightly harder as you go through the game, but when you get to the castle, be ready!
Overall, the game is a major success in causing tons of sequels and party games, this game will always be remembered for being a great game! Keep going, Mario!

A must have for nes owners!   Xiledx
Hi guys, this is my first review, so sorry if it isn't that good. So, let's just jump right in
Graphics: 8
I give the graphics an eight because this was the best graphics of its time. '(for consoles at least) Just look at the atari games and look at these ones. Yeah, way better.
Sound: 9
I give the sound a nine because all the sounds are different and if you make me listen to any of the games sound or music, I can tell what mario is doing and if he is in an underwater level, and underground level, or an above ground level.
Addictiveness: 10
I give the addictiveness  a ten because no matter how many times I play this game, I still always want to come back to it.
Story: 3
The story isn't one if its best stuff. All it is is bowser kidnapped princess toadstool (or princess peach if you prefer) and Mario has to save her.
Depth: 6
I give the depth a 6 because there are 32 levels, which is a lot already, but there are lots of secrets too. Lots of pipes that you can go to and there are lots of secret blocks (one of which has killed me once)
Difficulty: 7
I give the difficulty a 7 because it gets harder and harder as it goes on, and then it can get very hard later on in the game. (it starts to get hard for me when the hammer bros come to play)
Overall:9.4
This game is a must have for people who have an nes, or anyone that wants to play retro games. If you see an opportunity to get this game, and you have the system get it. Whether it be on its own or in a collection just get it. You won't be sorry.

FTW   nlad720
Difficulty: 8
The game can be really hard, and sometimes, like world 4-1, can be easy. It has its moments of intense frustration that's for sure.
Depth: 9
The game isn't too big, and your only objective is to get to the end of the level. There are 32 levels. Some are big, some are small.
Story: 4
All you do is get from start to finish, without any side objectives. You kill bowser at the end and save the princess. Nothing big.
Addictiveness: 10
I have personally played this game for hours on end and never got bored. So yeah, a ten.
Sound: 10
The music is classic. You get that classic "I just stomped on an enemy" sound when you kill something. Perfect.
Graphics: 8
Good for its time.  Some people wont give this game a chance because of the graphics. I am the opposite though.
this game is pretty much the best Mario game ever made.

A good game for NES   Xzman
Alot of people say NES days were not good at all. This was true. Until, one day a game came along called Super Mario Bros.
I give this game a 4 in graphics because well, it's the NES. I rated 5 in sound for some of the good music in the game. Mostly the world 1-1 theme and all other levels with the same track. I gave this game 7 for addictiveness because I keep coming back. Actully, i might go play it again after I'm done with this review. Sadly, i gave the story a 4 because, 1) When you first start the game you just get blocks, a mushroom thing and a guy in red clothes . They don't tell you the story. 2) When you get the story, it;'s just stereotypical "Save the princess". I gave the depth a 5 because There is a total of 32 levels. THEN, there is an extra quest which is just doing the game over again but a lot harder. And finally, The difficulty is 5 because at first the game is simple. At around maybe 5-1 the game gets a little harder. Overall, I give this game an 8 because   it is a really good game.

The game that saved gaming   alsonic
Ah, the game that saved gaming itself. This little game for the NES was a controversial in the gaming realm. This is the classic that is why we still have games today. But this ain't no History lesson, this is a review, a game review.
Graphics: 9/10 This is the third game on the NES (I think), the graphics were pretty good. You have your walking, jumping, and running. The animations are smooth. Though a bit aged (sorry, but by today's standards, this game is ancient) it's still looks great.
Sound 8/10 This game has 4 or 5 main sounds. The overworld theme, underground theme, castle theme, congratulation theme and a death theme. These games remind of a simpler thime, when you didn't have musical masterpieces like Live and Learn by Crush 40 or the Skyrim theme (they're good though! :)) but that a simple catchy tune that you can hum at school.
Addictiveness: 10/10 This game is addictive. You would want to play it over and over and over, you get it. It's really fun.
Story: 7/10 This is basically the first video game story. King Koopa kidnaps the beautiful princess Toadstool, and it's up to a heroic plumber to save her. It might be cliche by today (because of Zelda and so on) but it was cool part of the quest.
Depth 9/10 Speaking of quest, this game has 36 levels to trek through. There are hidden warp zones to skip over levels, secret 1-ups to add an extra live, and secret stars that make you invincible!  the downside is that you have to start over from the beginning, but the NES had no saving data (except Zelda) but that's ok.
Difficulty: 7/10 This game can get hard. It's an old game, so that's forgiven. Seriously, this game can get crazy.
Overall: 9.5/10 This was a fun game. IT's a classic, nothing else said. Seriously, that's the end of the review. Go away, shoo.

Super Mario Bros Game Review   PokemonMaster121
This game that started off Mario into a popular game character is amazing!
Graphics: The graphics in the Mario game is amazing for any 2-D game. Every level like 1-1, 2-7 or any level you name is amazing in the graphics like Mario, the koopa's, goomba's, bullet bull or any other enemy that hates Mario are well put in the game.
The sound in this fun loving 2-D game is just cool because every time I hear any song is like Mario bros, or the games of Mario that are in the system that this game is made in. 8.
Now about the best part is Addictiveness.... the reason why this game is addictive because all the levels that you have to go through is so fun even if its to easy or the level is wacked up and is hard for you or anyone else that plays this.
The story is simple as always your Mario and you have to save Princess Toadstool (Peach in games like Super Mario 64) but it's not that easy to do!
Now the depth in this amazing/awesome game is that there are so many levels that the game forces you to play unless you want Princess Toadstool/Peach stuck with Bowser for a long time and you wouldn't want that to happen right?
Now the difficulty is a 7 for me, maybe you guys don't think that but I'm not a hardcore fan of Mario and I like know every move he does in the games but in this game whenever you pass a level the levels well and always get more harder the second.
Now to wrap this funny scooby doo moment..... just kidding is that The first game that Mario was mostly the main character and that Nintendo put for us is awesome. Thx for reading and I'll make more reviews about games......or not? Just kidding or am I?
( I like this game )

The game started it all   Snorp02
I gave super Mario bros a 9.5 rating for the following reasons:
Graphics:
This game has great graphics for the time. I would have given it a high rating if the pixels weren't as view able. I know you can't really see them in the background but when you look at the goombas, koopas, etc. They look kinda square. I know if you say look at a koopa's shell it looks round but when you look at closer its kinda square. But hey that's just my opinion. Now lets look at the good things about the Graphics:
I like how the background doesn't show pixels I think that really good for something of basic plain blue (not counting clouds). I love snow levels I just think it looks cool with the way pipes are white. I also like how every level ends with Mario going to a castle.
Sound: Almost all of the Mario games have some tie to these songs and the reason why is because there GREAT!
There great because the music is happy out in the over-world, the music is (kinda) mysterious when underground.
And when underwater it feels like your swimming! I mean when I go swimming I sing this song cause it feels so much like swimming! (Also its a great song) The castle music feels like your in a place evil and full of lava. And of course that it is a place full of lava! Although I gave this a ten I would like to say is that I wish there where more songs. The four songs I have listed are the only songs in the game expect when you find the princess. That's a nice way to move into my next rating:
Story: The plot can be summed up in this line: damsel in distress. All it is Bowser kidnaps the princess and Mario sets out through the land to find him. I gave this an eight because this is the story that started it all. Not just in Mario but in a lot of games. I mean in Zelda Gannon kidnaps Zelda, and in sonic 06 Eggman kidnaps Elise, many other are out there but those are the only that are coming to my mind.
The story might be small but it started a huge line of plot for many games so I think it should get an eight.
Depth: This game has 32 level in all. You only need to do 10 to beat the game but to get the best experience I recommend do all 32. (I'm not done yet!) This game world  fell expansive due to fact that your moving through so many places. Whether it's going through a deep cave or a large plains, going across an ocean or walking through a evil castle this game has tons of places that make the world fell huge.
Addictiveness: This game has so great level design and the fact that this the first Super Mario game you will keep coming back for more.
And there are so many secrets you will almost definitely find some every time you play
Although I wish I could end this there, I still have to do one more category:
Difficulty: I gave this an eight this might just be because I suck at this game but to me after the first 3 or 4 worlds it gets quite hard. I have never beat this game without warp pipes or restore points on my 3ds. After world 3 a new enemy appears called lakitu I have always find this guys every challenging because they float in a cloud and drop enemies. And in world 5 bullet bills appear which are big bullets flying at you. Combined I think lakitus and bullet bills combined with tricky level design make this game quite difficult after the first few levels.
Thanks for reading!

basic SMB 1 Review From a Retro Guy   poopywyatt
Super Mario Brothers is probably the game that saved video games, and thus every other video game character should be paying this game homage. In this game you play as Mario who is red in color, or Luigi who is green in color, in their side scrolling, platforming, swimming quest to save several fake princesses and one real princess. There are 8 worlds (if I remember correctly), and the Mario brothers must traverse all 8 worlds to find Bowser, grab the little ax thing, drop him into some red hot magma, and save a real princess. After a first play through, there is a 2nd quest, but this only differs from the first quest in certain enemy swaps.
This was probably the very first video game I have ever played  when my parents won a NES from some kind of contest. This game ate up a lot of out time and we seemed to always come back to it. This game is the corner stone of effective, perfect control over a video game character. This game's control is so tight, that even up to this year, this game is still being sped run with records being broken. When it comes to classics, you do not get much more classic than this.
As much as I praise this game, I feel I should comment on my ratings.
Overall: this game is fantastic. You can never go wrong getting back to your gamer roots with this game.
Graphics: I think the graphics have aged well, however when compared to what can happen today, they do not hold up. At the time this game came out, the graphics were outstanding. The sprites and graphics in this game are the precursors for many of the designs in the future Mario games.
Sound: At the time of release, was amazing. Today, still amazing. The sound track to this game is the Mozart of the video game world. This music comes back to many of the future games, and is one of the most recognizable tunes to date. It is simple, catchy, and sets the light hearted mood of the game.
Story: Let's be honest, the story is as simple and basic as you can get. I know I may upset a lot of fan boys and girls with this score. But this game is no Final Fantasy. Do not think that I think this is a bad game because of the lack of story. This may be the reason this game is so good. This game does not need a story to be as fun as it is.
Depth: In this game, you run from left to right. There are a few warp zones, a few bosses to run under, shoot with a fireball, or jump over. There are a few pipes to some bonus coin areas. That is it.  I don't find much depth in this game. There is no bonus content, or any reward for points, coins, extra lives, or speed.
Difficulty: This is not the most difficult game. The end of the game is pretty hard to figure out if you do not know what you are doing or do not access to gamefaqs.com.

WHY IS THERE A HAMMER BRO   Furret
Hello sexy gamers. Today I would like to chat about this abomination. I'm joking I actually like the game. It's the original Super Mario Bros. For the NES. Yes.
This is really the game that made Nintendo a giant. Mario is probably the best known video game character and franchise in the entire world and this game catapulted it all. It's the classic platformer game, the platformer of platformers. The ultimate platformer? Maybe. Perhaps.
Personally I haven't played it as much as other people probably have. Most of my experience comes from playing the game because of the Minecraft server competition in which we race through custom made scaled levels of Super Mario Bros. Practice I guess, or just trying to find the stupid patterns in teleport levels.
Graphics - 7/10
Look it's the NES. The graphics are definitely not bad. Despite its age the game isn't jarring to look at, it has a very retro look to it now that sees enough appreciation. However to call it an artistic masterpiece seems a bit far fetched. It gets the job done, the pallets work well for the stages they're used for. There's a grassy pallet, a cave pallet, a water pallet, a sky pallet and a castle pallet. With only 4 levels in each world that is all you need to have every level look unique. The core of the game lies in the gameplay itself though. Stunning graphics would only distract the player when playing a platformer. I have minor complaints. The sprites don't overlap with the hitboxes of entities, so it's often hard to judge if you're going to kill an enemy or get hurt. Also the hammers that hammer bros throw can sometimes literally be invisible to the naked eye. That or I'm blind.
Sound - 9/10
I love the sounds for this game. Very 8bit, very oldschool, very fitting. The classic mario tunes for damage, death, swimming etc all originate here. Again the sound isn't the main focus of this game. They didn't go crazy with it but it's very addicting to just jump and speedrun a level like crazy and hear all the jumping noises you're making as you ninja your way over and under enemies.
Addictive - 9/10
There's something about the simplicity in Mario Bros that makes it very easy to replay the games. Normally with a platformer I'd play through it once and then be done with it mostly. Mario Bros is so quick though that you don't get stuck in stages for longer than two minutes most of the time, and it's one of the most famous games for speedrunning. Trying to beat your own best time for completing the game is rewarding and fun at the same time. Maybe frustrating if you don't get a new personal best, but that gets used as fuel to do better the next attempt.
Story - 1/10
I mean come on. The princess gets captured by Bowser and you have to save her. You get to the castle at the end of the world only to have some mushroom idiot tell you she's in a different castle. Repeat until you finally get it right on your 8th attempt. It's a platformer so it's okay not to really have a story. It set the precedent for all future Mario games and despite attempts to throw in some twists it has mostly remained that way for all of the franchise.
Depth - 7/10
The game isn't that big. There are 8 worlds to go through, each having 4 levels. Usually a grassy level, a cave or water level, a sky level and a castle level with a boss fight. If my math is on point that makes for 32 levels in total. When you keep in mind that each of these is only a minute long most of the time and you don't exactly have a long game. By today's standards. I'm sure it was short even for the NES back in the day but it wasn't as glaring compared to some RPGs nowadays that go for over 100.
Difficulty - 9/10
I'll be honest I underestimated this game. The fact that you only get three lives and there aren't many opportunities to get more makes it rather difficult. Copied with the fact that when you run out of lives you go all the way back to the first level. There is a little cheat you can do to instead go back to the first level of the world you were in, but it's still a good setback. Especially since it's really easy to miscalculate your jumps or barely touch an enemy or hammer that is somehow randomly in the wrong place at the wrong time. Some stages like 8-1 are rather long and have some nasty leap of faith jumps you have to nail to beat the level. The fact that you go back to small Mario after being hit once when carrying a fire flower means you can only survive one hit before dying.
Gameplay - 7/10
Unofficial category, the gameplay in this game was. Not as good as I'd have hoped, to be honest. To begin the game feels very slippery. When you gain horizontal momentum and try to come to a halt, Mario will slip on the floor in such a way that you often end up getting hit by something because of it. The hitboxes and sprites not overlapping also mean you can't really judge how to safely get past enemies, and I had some glitches throughout as well (double bullet bills, one up blocks not working, etc). Swimming was also horrendous for me. The bloopers are so annoying to dodge, and in 2-2 the last one was literally camping the pipe to the flagpole, forcing me to have to restart the world. It's an old game, there are bound to be glitches, but some core mechanics did kind of turn me off a little bit. Nothing too major though. I do hate how you can't run back to the left. If you miss a mushroom block it's gone for good.
Overall - 8.5/10
I think Mario Bros is a very solid game. It's a classic, a fun platformer, especially playing alongside a friend or something. It's just so easy to randomly get a little Mario itch and boot up the game. There are things weighing it down and I'd argue there are some better Mario platformers out there that will still fill that retro feel but come with better gameplay. Still, the OG remains the OG.

The game that saved the industry   DragonSlayer22
The year was 1983, video games on console were slowly dying off due to poor hardware, when suddenly the Nintendo Entertainment system comes out with this game and made video games popular again. I still have this game on my (mostly functional) Nintendo that I have.
Graphics: 7 The visuals look good and appealing to any audience. They were sharper than any PC game or Atari 2600 Cartridge game at that time. They are still enjoyable to this day and the game has a stable frame rate too.
Sound: 7 Average sound effects, along with the soundtrack, which only had a couple of songs at the time. Still sounds good, but it can get a little repetitive as you play the game more.
Addictiveness: 8
The game is a platform jumping game that is on a 2.D. angle, there are many power-ups and other things that make the game fun.
Story: 4
It is a low score due to it not necessarily appearing in the game. It is a simple story about a princess getting captured by a monster and you, a plumber, go and save her.
Depth: 7
The game is pretty big considering the time it was made. It has 8 worlds, each with 4 levels. It has many things to do and once you finish, you can play again with a harder difficulty. A glitch discovered recently also shows that there are over 128 worlds that are playable and hidden in the game's code.
Difficulty: 8 The game was pretty hard for the time, considering that the only game similar to this at the time was
Pitfall on the Atari 2600, and even that was not as fast-paced as this game.
OVERALL: 8
Similar to some other games I reviewed, it is available on almost any console on the market. It is a fun game that is still fun to play today, and may keep you hooked for hours. With Mario-Maker coming out not too long ago, that allows you to create and edit your own Mario levels, it is not hard to see why this game is still enjoyed by many people and is often ported onto any Nintendo console available. It is similar to what SEGA did to Sonic the Hedgehog except  Nintendo is still a company that makes console, unlike SEGA. As mentioned, you can find this game pretty much anywhere at anytime on almost any device that can run an emulator. It is usually around $2 if you find it on any modern Nintendo console today, but may eventually be free when the time comes to make more Mario games for more people to play.

The First Super Mario Bros. Game   luigi25

Super Mario Bros. was released for the Nintendo Entertainment System in November 1985. This was probably one of the first games on the new home console. At the time, there wasn't any other games like it. Super Mario Bros. was the first ever side-scrolling platform game. Not only that, but there was also a lot of exploration with the level design for a game of its time. This first Mario game is like none of the early arcade games because you don't just bash enemies and score points. You progress from level to level in a way that is challenging and fun. In some ways, it is pretty dated with the graphics and other issues, but for 1985 this was a revolutionary game that changed the whole gaming genre and paved the way for other NES classics.

Graphics 5/10: One of the weakest parts to Super Mario Bros. would have to be the graphics. In late 1985, there wasn't a whole lot that could be done to make a very good-looking game. Everything looks pretty dull and boring from the sprites to the backgrounds. This game falls into the same category with the arcade games like: Donkey Kong and Mario Bros. with its sprite work. Although, SMB does have more variety with the new levels and the way you move from stage to stage, but every level just looks the same. You have the same backgrounds with clouds, fences, and trees except for world 8 - 3 where you have the castle background.

This is a game I have mixed feelings about as far as the graphics are concerned (and with a lot of other things about SMB1 as well). I've seen worse looking games, but there still isn't much variety to the backgrounds. The sprites are just plain ugly! Mario looks like a block! I understand that this was the best Nintendo could do for 1985, but the graphics are very dated and look bad. They aren't as bad as some games, but they are the worst of the Mario series.

Music 7/10: The first SMB game has some pretty catchy music to it. I think it has some classic NES tracks, but there is very little variety in this game. The castle theme has to be my favorite. All of these themes would be used in the Super Mario Bros. cartoon 4 years later in 1989. That kind of gives you an idea of how few tracks this game has to it. Like with the graphics, it was the best Nintendo could do at the time. I feel like the NES's hardware/memory wasn't much until later on in the late 80s and early 90s. I'm also really mixed on this game's soundtrack too. The music sounds great, but there isn't enough of it.

Gameplay 7/10: The goal of this game is to get to the flagpole at the end of each stage before you run out of time. You control Mario and must navigate him through the stage avoiding bottomless pits and enemies at the same time. Players can pick up items such as: Mushrooms, Fire Flowers, and Stars along the way that give Mario an extra hit. The Fire Flower turns him white, and he can now shoot fireballs at his enemies. The Star makes Mario invincible, and he can kill enemies by touching them. The main concept of Super Mario Bros. is pretty cool, but the later games were an improvement. However, without this first game you wouldn't have these kind of concepts or level design.

The Starman is probably my favorite item because the music changes, and Mario can run through the stage mowing down enemies in the process while making his way to the flagpole. Really, there isn't that many power-ups in this Mario game. There aren't that many extra lives either, and you'll have to make sure to collect as many coins and 1-Up Mushrooms that you can find. These special Mushrooms are only found in hidden blocks. Coins are found on the levels themselves, in underground coin rooms accessed by standing on a pipe and pressing the Down button, and in the coin heavens that are reached by finding a beanstalk in one of the bricks.

So, there is a little bit of exploration to the level design of Super Mario Bros. Players will want to explore these levels to the best of their ability in order to collect items and extra lives so they can keep making progress with the game and not have to start again. That's what I like most about the gameplay of the first Mario game. What I like least is the layout of these stages after world 4. Everything just repeats itself. The castles, athletic levels, and water levels starting in world 5 are just harder versions of the ones from worlds 1 and 2. This game is mainly about exploration, and it doesn't have much of that either. Nor, are the levels that different from one another with their design.

In Super Mario Bros., the levels aren't that exciting. There is some exploration to their design, but another problem I had with this game was its appearance. It's like some of the kids in my neighborhood that had this game on their NES felt, and I feel that way too. I only got to play it at their house because I didn't have that version of SMB1. I had the SNES version on Super Mario All-Stars, and I enjoyed that version better. This one just doesn't have much variety to the stages, and their appearance is so plain you just lose interest after a while. The challenge and exploration is nice, but even that part of the gameplay is pretty weak.

Story 7/10: The story of Super Mario Bros. is that Mario and Luigi are two Italian plumbers from Brooklyn, NY, and they are working on fixing a drain. Somehow, they are pulled down the drain because it was a warp pipe that lead to the Mushroom Kingdom from the Real World. The Mario Bros. discover Bowser has taken over this kingdom and kidnapped its ruler Princess Toadstool. They set out across the land battling Goombas, Piranha Plants, Hammer Bros., Bullet Bills, and all kinds of other Koopas. That's really all there is to the story too. Originally, in Donkey Kong, Mario was a carpenter, and now he's a plumber. This is yet another example of how the background of these characters were never very consistent over the years. In this game the plot is pretty basic and nothing that important.

Content 6/10: Super Mario Bros. only contains a total of 32 short levels. They are split up into 8 worlds with 4 levels in each. Again, what is so disappointing is how none of the levels have their own theme like in later Mario games. That really got to me when I played this version on my friend's NES as a kid. Back then, I never got very far with this game. Now, I can finish it without too much trouble, and I have even played Hard Mode too. It is accessed after completing the normal 8 worlds, but it kind of sucks! It's just a modified version of the regular levels meant to be harder, but it is really just the same game. I felt Nintendo was just experimenting with Mario at this point, and that was why this game wasn't that impressive with its gameplay or content.

Difficulty 9/10: I feel like these first two Mario games are the hardest of the whole series. This one is hard because you don't have any continues and very few extra lives. Me and some of the kids in my neighborhood never could beat this version of SMB. It isn't that difficult compared to some of the other old NES games like Mega Man, but I guess we just didn't stick with it enough. The difficulty is fair, but without a way to continue and keep going this game ends up being a lot of trial and error for beginners. Unlike Super Mario Bros. 2, it is a short game, so getting a Game Over isn't that bad, but I didn't enjoy re-playing these levels so much. World 8 was just a nightmare! The placement of some of these Hammer Bros. is ridiculous, and there is no way to kill them without fire power.

This is where I found myself getting Game Overs the most, and by that time I just gave up. Nintendo hadn't come up with a way to continue yet, and that's the biggest flaw with these early Mario games. The only way you'll get good at this is by spending hours playing and re-playing these levels, and if you screw up it's time to restart the game from the beginning. I hate how SMB and SMB2 were so unforgiving to first time players. Even in the Sonic games you could still get continues. It isn't an impossible game and I felt like the deaths I had were due to inexperience, but there just wasn't much of a way to try again without re-playing the whole game!

Overall 6.4/10: Unlike a lot of other people on here, I don't have a very high opinion of this game. I guess many just get caught up in the nostalgia of the first Super Mario Bros., but they forget how poorly it was designed compared to later games. The levels aren't that interesting, and they don't do much that is different. The difficulty also makes it feel dated and so do the graphics, music, and other elements. I can't say much about this Mario game. Most of the other people I grew up with didn't like it much either. They played other NES classics like Zelda, Contra, Battletoads, and other games that probably were better. However, Nintendo was just getting back into the market after the gaming crisis of 1983, so I can forgive the layout of the game somewhat.

Super Mario Bros. 1: The Mother of Modern Gaming   janus

While Atari started the home gaming tradition, its graphics and gameplay was a little primitive. And with the E.T. fiasco, there was now a huge void in that niche. Nintendo filled it in 1985 with the launch of its NES. It was hugely mostly thanks to what can be considered THE first modern video game: Super Mario Bros. 1. Although the game hasn’t aged well, it’s still worth a detour to see the genesis of modern gaming 30 years after its original launch.

Graphics: 7/10

For the time the graphics were average. It was certainly an improvement from Atari and arcades, but for 21st-century eyes they might look primitive as they haven’t aged well.

Mario himself has improved since the Atari/Arcade era – he was the one trying to rescue the Princess from Donkey Kong, although he was usually referred to as Jumpman. His movements are more fluid and less “jerky”, i.e. he doesn’t look like he carries a bullet. However I found his color on Atari (and Arcade on DK) to be more realistic as his face’s color was much more distinct from his clothes. In Mario 1, it almost blends in with his shirt. Also, his mustache doesn’t show neatly. There is a good distinction, however, between he had his brother Luigi (his shirt and face are green) if you’re the unlucky one who had to hold the second controller.

Both brothers are four distinctive states, adding some diversity to their looks. They have the default small one, when the smallest hit from an enemy will kill you. When you find a mushroom you can grow up and be a little more resistant to hits; you can also reach a little higher when jumping. When you pick up flower (only after growing up) you can then throw fireballs and kill most enemies instantly as a result – speedrunners were even able to kill Bowser by blitzing him but I doubt it can happen in regular gaming. Finally, they can find (rare) invincibility stars that will make them impervious to anything but being squashed or to bottomless pits for a few seconds. When it happens they flash colors and run even faster.

The world where the Marios journey has various background that make create good variety. There is the classical brick path where you will walk left and right by jumping over (and sometimes inside) pipes, bottomless pits and enemies. The background sometimes has an occasional cloud and bush to make your path less monotonous, and in World 8 you start seeing fortress walls signaling you are nearing the end. Most worlds have one level that is completely underground. The path is still made of bricks but they are realistically darker, reflecting the lack of light – even the Goombas are darker. Making your way in these zones will be harder if you’re small since you won’t be able to break the bricks and might therefore hit enemies if you miscalculate your jump.

Speaking of jumping, most levels also have zones where you need to jump in order to make your way through. These levels consist of platforms that are large enough to move but on which you will need to run if you want to jump over the numerous bottomless pits, on the very small platforms moving left and right or up and down or on flying turtles in order to land on the next platform. The large platforms depart from the regular brick paths by actually looking like trees with large brown trunks and flat tops.

In addition, a few worlds have underwater levels where you must swim your way to the end. Your movements are realistically slower and your swimming is credible enough; you can even see a few aquatic plants and the path your swim around looks more like slime than bricks. You will even have to fight strong currents that pull you to the bottom at times. Finally each world ends with a castle where you must defeat Bowser, your archenemy. As the castle is “inside’ the bricks are once again realistically darker than outside (they are gray). The castles all look pretty much the same; the only difference stems from added obstacles like rotating fireball “bars”. Some of them, however, have a very specific path you must follow; if you miss it you will run in an endless loop or warp back to the beginning.

Finally, your enemies look decent for 1985. There are Goombas, the corrupted shrooms of the Mushroom Kingdom; Koopas, the turtles that talk aimlessly (green) or turn away when nearing an edge (red); Lakitu, who throws spike enemies at you from his could high above your reach; you will also see “flying fish” outside of water (they just swim when underwater). In addition there are jelly fish with their offspring that will try killing you while you swim, hard-shelled enemies not affect by your fireballs (like the cannon balls), Hammer Brothers that will throw their weapons at you – they may even come in pairs – and Bowser, whom you must confront at the end of each world. He is much bigger than Donkey Kong (and has more attacks too: fireballs, axes, jumping) and moving around him won’t be easy.

Music: 8/10

Although there are only four tracks in the entire game (excluding the fanfares), I give it such a high score because of the nostalgia factor.

The regular overworld theme, even after 30 years, still seem to represent what people not familiar with video game music think it sounds like… Of course it has evolved WAY beyond that track; just compare it to the latest video game launch of 2015.

OK, enough ranting. The overworld theme is probably the most well-known track in the history of video game. And unlike the Final Fantasy Origins version of Final Fantasy I, the NES version of the track is better than any other video game remix for 16-bits or beyond – although there are good orchestrated versions. The underground theme, while very simple and with long silences, is still enjoyable as it sounds intriguing enough. The underwater theme sounds magical and soothing – although I have a slight preference for the Super Mario All-Star version, where the waltz beat is better-defined – and the castle music sounds dramatic enough.

With respect to sound effects, they were as good as they could come for 1985. The jumping sound, while annoying in the end, is good and even distinct depending on your size. Jumping on enemies gives a realistic squishing sound – more realistic when you jump on a goomba – and the kicking sound (of shells) is good too. The growing up/shrinking sounds are good to but, like the squishing sound, get used too often: your swimming sounds like the squishing and going down pipes sounds like you’re shrinking. However, using the same sound for the cannon balls and the fireworks (at the end of regular levels) was appropriate. Finally, going down the pole to capture the flag has an interesting crescendo sound.

Addictiveness: 8/10

Since Mario 1 was one of the only games available for cheap – computers were still quite expensive at the time – it’s no wonder it got so popular so quickly.

First it offered increasingly large and difficult worlds, making the challenge reasonable. Even the early worlds proved to be challenging if you didn’t time your jumps properly.

Second, even though he doesn’t really serve any purpose, having Luigi could help siblings getting along by letting them both play the game. Plus there was this challenge to get the highest score that works well on pride.

In addition, there is more after world 8-4! Indeed when you finish the game you restart it but with different challenges: there are only hard-shell enemies immune to fireballs instead of turtles. Try making your way through that world!

Finally, the original cartridge also featured Duck Hunt, when you could either shoot ducks (that looked and sounded realistic) or clay pigeons with your mighty NES gun. It definitely added to the replay value of the game.

Story: 5/10

The scenario in itself is incredibly simplistic: you must make your way through each one of 8 worlds in order to rescue Princess Toadstool and restore peace to the Mushroom Kingdom.

Nevertheless, unlike most games of the genre even on the 16-bits console, there is some continuity to each level. Indeed, you start each level by coming out of the castle you just conquered/where you just beat Bowser. It’s not like Sonic, where each zones and levels are completely independent from each other.

Depth: 7/10

The game is impressively large for 1985.

In most levels except underwater and Bowser’s Castle (with few exceptions) there are secrets yearning to be uncovered. It can be life mushrooms (which are usually well-hidden) or coins, which in turn can be down a pipe or up a vine. Getting 100 of those gives you a life, so don’t be afraid to cash in! Levels get increasingly larger/have more obstacles as you make your way to world 8.

Also the fact that you can play the whole game more than once increases the interest for the game for more experienced players. I remember my friend’s sister beating the game twice over; we were all so ecstatic when it happened!

Difficulty: 6/10

You guys know me by now: I’m an RPG geek. So games like Mario 1 tend to be more difficult.

When playing Mario 1 from world 1-1 to world 8-4 you will see what I mean. Oh, it’s nothing like the “real” Super Mario Bros 2 (for Famicom Disk System) where too many jumps require impossible timing. However, as worlds become increasingly difficult so does the jumping; gaps become increasingly larger, necessitating a very precise run and jump. Also, starting around world 5, many enemies becomes immune to your fireballs so don’t run on them. Finally the time factor can be a big problem especially in world 8 where going around obstacles drains the chronometer.

Fortunately there are a few tricks to decrease the challenge. First you can jump quickly to world 8 by finding the right warp zones. They are well-hidden but worth the detour. There are also a few instances (in world 3 I believe) where, when you time you shell kicking appropriately, you can get easy lives. Be careful not to go over 128 lives or the game will freeze. Finally, once you figure out his pattern, Bowser is easy to defeat; you just need to avoid him and hit the axe that makes his bridge retract.

In short, despite not having aged well – the graphics look quite primitive and pixelated – Super Mario Bros. 1 is still worth a look. The music is still strangely addictive and it’s amazing how much there is to explore in such an old game. Can you do better than most modern gamers and actually finish world 1?

Going Old school   tornadocam
It is time to take a trip down memory lane. I'm going to be critiquing and reviewing the game that launched the NES era. That game is none other than Super Mario Brothers the very first one in the series. So lets get started
Plot:7
The Koopa King later named Bowser kidnaps Princess Peach. He also sends his forces to the 8 worlds of the Mushroom Kingdom. Bowser's plan is to use Peach as a ransom and hostage to lure the Mario Brothers in a trap. Mario and Luigi set out to liberate the worlds from the Koopa Troop and rescue Peach.
Okay this is a basic plot. It did a good job introducing the characters in the Mario series. It also set the foundation for the plots of future Mario games. It seems like though the plot did suffer some lack of creativity. I would expect it since it is the first game of the series. Super Mario Brothers 2, 3 and Super Mario World had very creative story lines. The thing that brings the rating down is having a princess kidnapped has been used over and over again. The first game was more of you typical plot were the damsel is in distress. But, again this was a nice intro to the series and we get a good look at the characters. At the end of the day I give the plot a 7 out of 10
Graphics and Controls: 8
The graphics were amazing considering this is one of the first NES games. It was a big improvement over earlier systems like the Atari. Future NES games had better graphics including the next Mario games that came after this one. Still, the graphics were revolutionary for the 1980s. I thought the stages where nice colored. The clouds look like Clouds. Castles look like Castles and the trees look like trees. The sprites of this game were nicely done for this being one of the earlier NES games. The characters look decent though Mario & Luigi's sprites look out of whack in this game compared to the future games. However, I would expect the sprites to not be as sharp since this was the first game and one of the earlier 8 byte games.
The Controls were smooth, which really surprised me because usually in a series the first game has a few bugs in it. For Example, Mega Man I had some glitches and still controls as it was the first in that series. However, future Mega Man games had very smooth controls. Not one time do the controls seem stiff in this game or seem to lag. Mario or Luigi do not appear to be sluggish at all. I also felt like the controls did a good job introduce gamers to an 8 byte style game. Therefore, I give the Graphics and Controls for the first Mario game a solid 8 out of 10. Are they perfect and as good compared to other Mario Games no. But you have to consider this was the first game and I think Nintendo did a good job with the controls.
Sound: 8
The sound in this game was also revolutionary for its time. The soundtracks in this game were very good and the music was kind of catchy. What I liked about the sound was it eliminated the tingles that some of the Atari games had. Now, the soundtrack could have had a more variety as as I think they are only 3 maybe 4 tunes in this game. I like games that have a variety of music in them. On the other hand, the tunes in this game were awesome. I also like the sounds in the game. The fireball sounds powerful and lets the player know they have a powerful weapon. The sounds the bullets make is classic it sounds like a cannon going off which was a nice touch. Not to mention Bowser's fireballs have a unique sound. So I give the sound a solid 8 out of 10.

Replay Value (Addictiveness) 7
I remember getting this game as a child growing up in the 80's and I will tell you I played this game a lot. I could not wait to get done with my chores or my parents got down watching TV so I could play this game that is how it was good at the time. When Mario Brothers 2 and 3 came out they where even more special so I played this one less. Now with that being said, this game is still fun to play. I still play this game today just to go old school. I think it is nice to play the classics and see where the series started. Once I start playing this game I do not want to turn it off. While the game is fun and it is still a good game to play I play it less than the other Mario Brothers games. This game was revolutionary for its time. But when Super Mario Bros 2 and 3 came out they were more addictive in my opinion. So that brings the rating down some. Thus, at the end of the day the replay value is a good 7 out of 10.

Depth: 7
Okay Super Mario Bros has some depth to it. They are coins to collect, secret areas to find, and power ups to hunt for. The Stages are long too as each world has 3 to 4 parts to it. Which also makes the game fun. The Player will need to check every pipe and hit every brick to get secret areas and coins. Also often times bricks have power ups in them too. Due to each world having several parts it takes a while to beat this game. This is one game you can't finish in less than an hour if you play through all the levels. As the game does have secret warp zones, more on that later. Despite the depth of the first game I do not feel like it deserves anything higher than an 8 and here is my reasoning. Yes, this is the first game and yes it does have a lot of depth to it considering its the first game. However, future Mario Games had more depth to them especially Super Mario Brothers 3. Some say it might not be fair to compare the game to Super Mario 3. Super Mario 3 has the type of depth a Mario game should have. One could argue this set the foundation for future Mario games. Do not get me wrong I think the first game had a decent amount of depth to it. That is why I give the depth a good rating of 8 out of 10.

Difficulty: 7
To be honest I had a hard time deciding the rating for the difficulty of this game. It is not as difficult as Super Mario Bros 3, which can bury you. Also the game did not start getting difficult till the later levels. However, when the game started getting difficult it really started getting difficult. I remember not having trouble with this game till I want to think the 4th world. The difficulty in this game comes from enemies, getting stuck, and long stages. Super Mario Bros 3 had its share of enemies especially later in the game. The enemies can hit you from behind and they can be in tight places. It is so easy to not be paying attention and get hit with an enemy. Also in later stages bullets are shot at you and these can sometimes be in places where you least expect them to be. The bullets are also random which makes it more difficult. Also unlike other Mario games when you get hit with an enemy, and your in a super form, you return to normal Mario. In other games you will just lose your power up but not return to normal size unless you got hit again. So yeah enemies can be a problem in this game. Another problem is you can't go back in this stage. One you pass something you can't go back. Sometimes I have gotten stuck or trapped and I could not get out. When this happens you just have to let the time run out and lose a life. Other Mario games you could go back and backtrack if you need too not in this game. In addition, the stages are pretty long in this game so it forces you to use time wisely you cannot good off in this game. The long stages start coming into play in world 4. In fact some of the stages have mazes and if you do not go a certain route you start all the way back to the beginning. Due to the stages being long the time can easily run out and thus the player ends up losing a life.

While this game had its moments. It did not start getting difficult to around world 4. The first 3 stages are pretty simple though they do have difficult spots. I noticed in world 3 the enemies start getting more numerous but they can be taken out quickly with fireballs. So that helps and speaking of fireballs. Even though you return to normal after getting hit, assuming you have a power up, the game gives you several chances to become Super Mario or Luigi again. It is like the game is helping you out. Also what hurts the difficult rating is the player can use the warp zones. If a player finds the warp zones they can skip several levels including the most difficult ones. Again it is like the game is trying to give you a pass. I wrestled with my rating for difficulty. Yes the game had its difficult moments. The enemies, getting stuck, and long stages can cause one to be challenged, which I like. On the other hand the game gives you power ups throughout the stages, and gives you a chance to skip the hard levels. I decided I would give the difficulty rating a 7 out of 10. It is not like as I stated Super Mario Bros 3. That game could just bury one with enemy placement and long stages. Mario Bros is difficult but it does not bury you like the other games do. Also as I stated the game did not start getting really hard till the 4th world so that brought the rating down somewhat.

Overall Rating 8
Growing up in the 1980's to early 1990's was a fun time. You had Mario Brothers and Mega Man two of the most popular game series. I remember getting the NES for Christmas and this game came with it. I had so much fun playing this game until Later Mario Bros and Mega Man games started to come out. After doing chores or my parents got done watching TV I played this game till it was time for me to go to bed. On the weekends I would stay up and play this game. That is how amazing it was. The graphics, sounds and just this being on a new system blew me away. Before I got the Nintendo I played the Atari. So this was something new and it was awesome.

The game was and is considered revolutionary for its time. This game was a big improvement over the Atari games. It also set the foundation for what good NES games are supposed to be especially future Mario Games like 2 and 3.

Now, this game did have a few minor issues. The graphics were good for when this game came out and that is what I based my rating off of. But the graphics compared to future Mario games are not quite as good. On the other hand as I stated I expected that since this is the first game in the series as well as one of the first 8 byte games. It was like Nintendo took the issues with this game and fixed it. If you play Mario Bros 2 and 3 you will notice how the sprites have really been improved and fixed. Also future Mario games had more soundtracks which made them even more special. The depth was good in this game but it was increased in future games. Still this is where it all begin not just for the Mario Series but for future 8 byte games.

As far as playing this game. I can say I had fun doing so and it is still fun to play. Sometimes it is nice to go back and see were it all started. I would recommend playing this game. If anybody is new to the Mario Series this would be a good game to start with. As it introduces the controls and characters. The difficulty is decent and that is another reason I think it would be a good starter game for people new to the Mario Series. Super Mario 3 is difficult and while I would recommend it some new players might be turned off from the Mario series due to the difficulty of that game. Would I recommend this game. Yes I would recommend this game. I give the the first Mario game a solid 8 out of 10 rating overall

Great Mario game   EpicGg
This game is one of the best games for the NES. Both hardcore and casual players can play this game. Mario kept gaming alive. If this game wasn't made, gaming would be dead. Mario is the number one game franchise because of this game. I gave this game a 8.8 because it still needs some improvements but other than that it is great. I respect retro games unlike people that are anti-Nintendo. This game was very creative for a NES game. It still has great music to this day.  It has a lot of replay able value. There is no storyline to this game. Going from castle to castle is what Mario does. It has 8 worlds which is good for a NES game. Four levels per world. Super Mario NES can be easy and hard at times. It has medium difficulty. In conclusion, this is a great game.

cant tell you how much time i spent playing this when i was little, and still today!
this game is the definition of retro game. compared to todays graphics these are pretty bad. but i love them, just because they give a retro feel to it. same goes for the sound. extremely entertaining for a game with very few controls. it pretty much doesnt even need a story! if oyur looking for an amusing classic game this should be number one on your list!
if you dont find this game entertaining you should see someone. this has got to be in my top ten games of all time. i would reccomend this to anyone and everyone.

Rage to the MAX!!!!!
Super Mario Bros, a game that set the standards for all 2D platforming games to come. If that's so lets see if it lives up to these words.
Graphics:9
The graphics were great, a lot of other games didn't have anything on it (except for Kirby), the 8-bit visuals blew developers minds, especially Atari!
Sound:10
The music never gets old. While some people criticize it I stay by it's side. I personally think that it's the best on the system in a draw between the Legend of Zelda music.
Addictiveness: 8
I put it at 8 because it's a fun game but it gets annoying with the constant deaths and restarts all the way at the beginning of the game. I'm sure most people will agree with me on that.
Story: 3
Not much to say here. All it is that the evil koopa king Bowser kidnaps Princess Peach from the Mushroom Kingdom and Mario the plumber has to save her.
Depth:7
It has loads of levels, 8 worlds and 4 levels each world. After completing it once the next way round is harder. It also has a 2 player.
Difficulty: 8
This is a hard game. It starts off simple but hard and gets more complicated therefore harder. You'll get the hang of it until losing all your lives where when you get back to the level you died on you would've forgotten all of the parts of it.
Overall I'll give it a 9.3/10, yet another success for Nintendo.

The Mario That Started It All...   VizzedGuy111
Guy's Probably Short Review
I'm gonna review this Mario classic that didn't probably started this all (due to Donkey Kong) but a good old classic. This game is from the NES era in which you play as Mario, saving the princess, and defeat the evil koopa himself. The game play is simple. Just get the power ups, stomp on enemies, avoid pit holes, get a lot of score and coins, and finally get to the flagpole. It's a pretty hard game due to how hard to get lives and the layout of the levels. However if you have childhood memories of this game you should play it.  It's pretty addicting.

An instant classic, that is already classic.   nicco139
What is there to say that has not already been said about this classic? Oh yeah. Nothing. This game basically DEFINED platforming games, CREATED a legacy of games still being continued today, and made Nintendo a front-runner in the battle for the best video game company.
Graphics : 10.
Now this is just comparing it to games of the era, but these graphics were REVOLUTIONARY!!! I mean sure, compared to the X1, they look like trash, but for the NES? Great. Just...Great.
Sound : 10
I don't know any gamers who I can't just walk up to and say, "Hey! Sing me the Mario song!" and they wont go, do do do do do DO, do.
Addictiveness : 10
If it wasn't addicting, would it be THIS famous? No.
Story : 3.
Bowser gets peach, Mario gets her back. Nothing much here.
Depth : 10.
There are 8 worlds, with 4 levels in each, one of which is a castle. 8 castles, and 24 other levels. Yeah, its big.
Difficulty : 5
This game is pretty easy....until world 8. Then its DEADLY.
Overall : 10.
Super Mario Bros is one of the greatest retro games, OF ALL TIME.

Great to see a classic on vizzed   Slime Squasher
Overall, this has got to be one of my favorite games ever.
The graphics are really good, well, good for its time. I mean, just look at Atari games, you'll see the difference. Go ahead. I'll wait. Back? Good. However the graphics really aren't that different from other NES games.
The music of this game is something that will get stuck in your head forever. Very cute, and probably has it's own YouTube channel (lol).
Addictiveness is a big part of this game. Because there is no saving, you will be forced to keep replaying until you can finally get past the part where you keep dieing.

Story isn't that great. The usual damsel in distress.
The Depth on the other hand, is great. A bunch of levels, plus the same thing but harder.
Despite how great this game is, I still consider it to be the second hardest game ever (the hardest being Contra).

Do Do Do Dodo Do!   videogamenerd2
Super Mario Bros is a legend for video games, as Super Mario Bros. saved everybody from the video game crash of 1983. Super Mario Bros influenced the idea of Sonic. Anyway, for the game itself, you play as an Italian plumber named Mario who saves the Princess from an evil lizard (turtle) named Bowser. The controls work like a dream and the graphics were great at the time. Nobody could forget the over world theme from Super Mario Bros and that has caused millions of cases of songs being stuck in one's head. As for story, it was O.K at the time, but now it is a bit clichÈ. The difficulty is not too hard, but not too easy which makes difficultly spikes not as bad as other games. (Hint, hint, Battle-Toads) Super Mario Bros is a game anybody can enjoy and I'm sure that would apply to you as well.

Super Mario Bros Review   GoombaGuy
Super Mario Bros is one of the most biggest hits in gaming history. You play as two plumbers named Jumpman Mario and Luigi Mario. The main idea is to save the princess and defeat the evil King Koopa. There is very little graphics, and the difficulty is very low, but the music is fun to listen to. It does take a while to compete the game while playing al the way through, but there is shortcuts. There has been many Mario games in the future and in the past, but this was one of the best. Hope you have fun!

The graphics suck but back then the graphics were the best now I'm not an expert but I can say its easy in a sense.Any way it is one of the most historical games ever aside from the PlayStation games where they manipulated polygons and the Nintendo 64  where the made 64 bit games. But as I said this is the most historical game ever for the Nintendo Entertainment System. This is my personal opinion so if you disagree I completely respect that. Also  if you like this game try the Zelda games or the other Mario games like the second.

If you run out of lives and want to continue then at the game over screen press and hold A then press start at 1 player (or 2 player) and you will start at the beginning of the world at which you died!

Access 5-1 from 1-2
To access this warp, you must be Super or Fiery Mario. Go to the pipe at the end of the level and jump on top of it. Jump up and break the block over top of the part of the pipe farthest left. Then, position Mario on the edge of the pipe, with one foot hanging off the edge. Duck, then jump backwards as far right as possible. If done just right, Mario will slide through the pipe and the bricks. Walk over to the warp zone area and enter the middle pipe. This pipe will take you to world 5, level 1. The same area can be acessed from a pipe in the same place in 4-2. However, this is meant to be a warp zone to 5-1, whereas the 1-2 warp to 5-1 is a glitch. After completing the jump trick in level 1-2, you can also go down either of the other two pipes, both of which will take you to Minus World -1.

Negative World
Go to World 1-2. At the pipe that leads to the flag, break two blocks so there's one at the end touching the pipe. Now duck and jump backward toward the brick (don't break it!). You should go through the wall and pipe into a warp zone. Jump down the first pipe you see and you will be in the Negative World (-1)!

Shoot fireballs as small Mario
Go to either 1-4, 2-4,3-4, etc. and get to Bowswer. Make sure you are Big Mario and try to jump over Bowser or run under him. Stand near the Axe and Bowser will start to walk towards you. As he gets near you, jump high, and touch Bowser and the Axe at the same time. If you do it correctly, you will hear the sound as if you were to shrink, but you will just flash and stay big. Go to the next stage, and get a Mushroom. (Yes, there will be a Mushroom instead of a Fire Flower.) When you touch the Mushroom, you will shrink. Then get a Fire Flower, and you'll have Fire Power as small Mario. (Note: after you do the Bowser/Axe trick, enemies that touch you will be able to kill you when you are Big Mario. When they touch you while you are small Mario after getting the Mushroom or Fire Flower, you will turn back into Big Mario.)

The most classic of all classics, lord of NES and Nintendo, mario will always hold a place on our hearts, because, old classics never die.

For some people, the main theme still defines what video game music is all about...

Reply to PrestonS1105. F2 to save and F4 to load. This is the only way i know on vizzed to go around the difficult games of nes and snes. becuase losing and starting the game from the begining wont let you get the pattern to win. this way you can repeat
