Jim returns for another groovy entry!   Drweegee64
Well after finishing this game for the very first time and since I recently made a review for the first Earthworm Jim, I thought I'd review this one as well. Let's begin with the story.
Story-
The story is pretty simple. Similar to that of Earthworm Jim 1, Princess What's-Her-Name has been kidnapped yet again, this time by Psy-Crow, who wishes to marry her. Of course, Jim isn't going to have that happen and goes off to rescue the princess again, unfortunately for Jim, some of the baddies from the first game are still quite annoyed about their previous defeats and are still after Jim. The story is somewhat weaker, but that doesn't really matter much.
Gameplay-
Levels such as the first level and level ate pretty much have the same gameplay as the first Earthworm Jim, you run from point A to B while shooting whatever gets in your way. There are some new weapons such as the homing missile gun which shoot houses (GET IT? HOMES!), the massive wall gun thing that destroys everything on screen, and the bubble gun... that shoots bubbles, and is pretty much useless. Of course you can pick up health, ammo for your current weapon, ammo for your main gun and pick up the new weapons. There are some levels that change the gameplay such as the flyin' king where you have to fly your pocket rocket and take a bomb to the end of the level to defeat Major Mucus, and the three levels of puppy love where you have to save the puppies Psy-Crow is throwing out of a window, as well as bombs and bounce them over to Peter Puppy using a giant marshmallow thing... Dropping too many puppies makes Peter quite displeased and turns into a monster like in the first game, and proceeds to beat the snot out of you. Speaking of snot, Jim has a new friend to help him through the levels named... Snott. Snott replaces the head helicopter move from the first game by acting like a parachute and he can also swing you on slimy surfaces on some roofs. The controls are basically the same as before, the d-pad moves Jim as well as aim your gun and whip direction, a is too shoot and look like a maniac, b uses your head as a whip, although I don't recall it being mandatory at any point, and c jumps, pressing c while in the air makes Snott come out of Jim's backpack and will latch onto the slimy surfaces I mentioned before if he touches them, also pressing a while in the air uses Snott as a parachute. The gameplay is still fun as the first except there are a few annoying levels, in my opinion anyway. I don't particularly find the puppy love levels that fun, udderly abducted felt kind of tedious, but this is a matter of opinion, I also find the final level a real pain but it is by no means a bad level, it's just really hard.
Graphics-
I don't have much to say on graphics, other than they are great, but to me not as good as the first game. One reason for this is because I just seem to prefer Jim's sprite from the first game over this one. The animations are fine of course, so, yeah... not much else I can really say. Moving on.
Sound-
I think that the soundtrack from Earthworm Jim 1 was an absolutely amazing soundtrack, Earthworm Jim 2 is also pretty good, but again, I prefer the first game's soundtrack. I do like that this game has more classical music, it just seems to work well with the game's craziness to me. My favorite tracks would probably be the title theme,  the puppy love theme, lorenzen's soil and see jim run, run jim run. The game has good sound effects as well, with Jim being given new voice clips which I like.
Addictiveness and Depth-
This game has pretty much the same depth as the first game, just single player with multiple difficulties. I would defiantly play this game again since it is a fun game and all. But I would play the first game over the second.
Difficulty-
I think the game is just a tad easier than the first game, but not by much, it's still pretty hard due to levels like puppy love (especially part 3), inflated head although it is quite short, level ate due to being constantly chased by a salt shaker and defiantly the last level, see jim run, run jim run.
Verdict-
I would say that this is a very good game and is worth an 8, let's go over what I think are the good and bad points of the game shall we?
The Good-
The soundtrack is pretty awesome
It's about as funny as the first game
Most levels are pretty fun to play through
New weapons
A bubble gun
The games difficulty is a bit more forgiving
The Bad-
Can still be frustrating at times since the game is by no means easy
Three levels of puppy love, really?
Snott can be somewhat difficult to use when trying to swing off the slimy stuff since you have to be pretty accurate
This game is fun to play though, but as you may have guessed from my constant comparing, I think it is not quite as good as the first, I would defiantly try Earthworm Jim 2 if you haven't already.
Overall-
The game is very fun to play and a good game overall, but as you may have guessed due to my constant comparing, I prefer the first game over this one. But don't let that stop you from trying this game if you haven't already.

Earthworm Jim 2 (Sega Genesis/Megadrive) Review.   Eddy88
Eat Dirt... Again!
We all know the story: Succeful game that sells a lot of copies, will have a sequel for sure... This sequel thing can be pretty weird sometimes, it can result either in a better game than it's predecessor (or at least, something similar), or in a really bad game that has nothing to do with the previous part.... Luckily, the game I'm going to review today fits with the 1st. Example of a sequel... The sequel of a game with a... Um, let's say "Unique" protagonist: A worm. No, I'm not going to review a "Worms" game. It's the game of a worm with a super techno-suit... That is! Today, I'm going to review "Earthworm Jim 2". Which was released for multiple system. But, It was released for the Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo before being ported to those systems... I'm going to focus on the Genesis's version. So, Take a seat and read this!
Story: Right after rescuing Princess "What's-her-name?" of this evil sister, The Queen Slug-for-a-butt... Jim inevitably falls in love of the Princess, and since that day, he tries to conquer her heart. Failing at that task every time he tires. However, one day, he hears that she has been kidnapped once again. This time, by Psycrow. One of the Slug-for-a-butt's minions. But, this time being his own boss. He's planning to marry the princess, only to get the proper powers of the royalty. Now Jim has to chase and stop the Psycrow's plan... Even if that implies having to travel through the Galaxy, and having to visit the most strangest planet of the same (which are also, the Vacation point of many evil villains). (5/10)
Graphics: Same as it's prequel, this game counts with great graphics. However, these aren't good as the ones of the first part. Only take a look at the graphics of the 1st. Part, and then look at the ones of this sequel. You can see a big difference between them. Backgrounds are okay, some are pretty simple... Nothing amazing on them. In another words: Not so good, not so bad. (7/10)
Sound: One of the strengths points of the game. The music you hear here, has the same quality of the previous game... You can hear different kinds of songs: Epic, Slow and calm, and exciting songs. There aren't two similar songs in this title. About the SFX: Most part of the SFX are ripped of the prequel. It would have been better if they replaced those and made a few new sound effects. (8/10)
Addictiveness: Fair... That's all I have to say. This game isn't much addictive... But, for some strange reason, you'll ever come back to play it one more time. I dunno why, really. (7/10)
Depth: Let's see what we've got here... Here's how you control Jim: By pressing "A", he'll shoot the current weapon, By Pressing "B", he'll use his head as a whip, and by pressing "C", he'll jump. As you may have noticed, it has the same controls of the previous title. Sounds Simple, right? Well, this time, Jim counts with some extra moves, the most part of these, involve "Snot". A big green mucus. By Pressing "A" while falling, Snot will act like a Parachute, and it will reduce the Fall's speed. By pressing "C" two times, we can use him to swing between platforms covered by Mucus. And, by pressing, "Up+A and B", Jim will use the "Manta Shield", that covers him from the Enemies attacks for a few seconds... But, that's not all: We also have new weapons. Such as the "Home-ing Missile" (that shoots a house that can follow enemies, hence it's name.) the "Wall Blaster" (that gets rid of all the nearby enemies) or the "3-Way glove" (that shoots bullets, like the regular weapon, but with the difference that this one covers a wide rank with it's bullets). We also find a lot of depth in the stages... For Example: On one of them we must guide Jim (on a Blind cave salamander disguise) through a strange looking stage, on another we'll have to pilot the Jim's pocket rocket through a scrolling stage, etc. There are many original stages... If you want to know how they look, play the game! (8/10)
Difficulty: If you're good at Video Games, this one shouldn't be a problem... If you want some challenge, I recommend you to play this game on the harder difficulty. You won't regret it. (7/10)
Final Rating: 8
Just like it's prequel, we have a good game right here... Good Graphics, good gameplay. A great game that deserves to be played... Just you need to give it the chance to see if I'm right.

The 1st one was better   randallt1990
I don't think it's a terrible game. It's very good and a little more crafty than the first, but I actually like the levels better in the 1st Earthworm Jim. The levels in the 1st game it seemed to be more in chronological order with the story .  Earthworm Jim 2 has a bunch of random levels that doesn't even match with the story itself. Some of are actually pretty cool.  The levels are also very challenging. I can't imagine anyone beating this game on Sega Genesis or Nintendo. I was a having a little difficult time with some of the levels. Other than that, the game play is pretty decent.

Earthworm Jim 2 review   Weegee082
Hey guys, this is my first review, and its on my 3rd favorite game of all time, Earthworm Jim 2. This game is just amazing, it does everything a sequel SHOULD do. I'll go over each reason why. Starting now.
Graphics: For the time, and now, it looks awesome. It feels like you're playing a cartoon.  Jim himself is well animated, from his walk cycle to the idle animations. Also, the backgrounds are great for a Genesis game, it makes full use of the many colors of the Genesis. Overall, it looks good for the time, and it looks good today.
Sound: Music wise, it sounds great. You can thank the amazing Tommy Tallerico.  The music does its job by fitting the level its in, even if its used more than once. My favorite music tracks are Anything but Tangerines, Lorenzen's Soil, The Big Top Polka(Game Show), and See Jim Run Run Jim Run. However, its not as good as the soundtrack for the Saturn version, but this one fits the game.
For the sound effects, they're also good. Surprisingly, its high quality for Genesis standards. When Jim speaks, it doesn't sound bad, which is great. The others are great.
Addictiveness: There's not much to say, but its addicting. Once you beat it, you might want to try another difficulty. Although this game has a password system, you can addicted to the point where you beat the game without a password.
Story: Overall, its okay. However, there's not much to it other than save the princess. Its basically as basic as you can get with a story in a game. I would've given it a lower score, but the ending saves because of the humor. Besides, story isn't important the Earthworm Jim series.
Depth: Although this game is short, you want to come back to it after playing. After playing on a certain difficulty, you can step it up even though you get now special ending. Its a fun game to play, and it keeps me coming back every time. However, the depth is up to the thoughts of the player.
Difficulty: Depending on the setting you're on, it can be easy or hard. Regardless, this game can be tough. While not as hard as the original, some levels can kick your butt. Also, getting the password isn't fun. It goes like this, there's four objects throughout each level, and its a pain sometimes. Not to mention, this game is scarce with extra lives, not that you need them. On Easy, its fair. On Normal, its in between, but it has its cheap moments. On Difficult, you will get frustrated. Aggravating levels such as The Flying King, Puppy Love, and Udderly Abducted  become a nightmare. Basically, the difficulty varies.
