Legend of Zelda, The: The Wind Waker HD

A Great Adventure Remade
Zelda games never fail to amaze me, I don't know why but there is something about this game series that is special to me. Maybe it's my love for exploring, maybe it's my desire for adventure. Whatever it may be, Wind Waker HD inspired me. It inspired me in a way I can't explain. It inspired me to do something, just something. Like I said, kind of hard to explain. But hey, I'm glad to be writing a review to my favorite Zelda game of all time. Admittedly, I've never gotten to play this game, not even on the Gamecube. So how could I love a game so much having never played it? I find myself to be asking this question a lot, and my answer is along the lines of, "It's just a really great game." And I'm not even a Zelda fanboy, I prefer platformers over puzzle games, but Wind Waker was different for me. The graphics, the music, everything was perfect. I might even get this game in the near future, but let's get through this review first.

Graphics

Wind Waker decided to do something different with it's graphic scheme. It ended up being a cartoon style graphic scheme, which I really enjoyed looking at. When I first heard that Wind Waker was getting an HD remake I thought, "wait, but it has cartoon-style graphics. How can they put it in HD?" And I was blown away when I saw the new graphics. Wind Waker HD runs at 1080p, which is a big step up from the original 480p. A lot more things have been done with the "shading."There was a bigger difference in lighting compared to the original game, you can read more about this online if you would like but this was as far as I could get without feeling like I was copying. There are also effects with Link's shadow now. Before you wouldn't see Link's shadow when he climbed ladders and did other tasks. But this was of course added into the HD version of the game. The room with Puppet Ganon has shallow water in it, which in the original game only reflected a few objects in the room. Now it reflects everything including Link.... Read the rest of this Review
Paper Mario: Sticker Star

Paper Mario Sticker Star
Paper Mario Sticker Star, a game that I have really enjoyed playing. It's a slight bit different form the previous Paper Mario games, and that's what I like about it. Not everyone can stick to the same thing forever, that's why they add new things to games. the new thing to this game is stickers. It does add a little bit more to the game since you have attacks, but you have a limited amount of them and a limited amount of space for attacks. Paper Mario Sticker Star is not the most challenging game, but it takes more thinking than you'd think.?___ Let's start by talking about the graphics. They aren't exactly realistic, but they definitely got a paper detail good. In the beginning of the game after the Bowser Attack, you find yourself crumpled up. Being crumpled up is obviously one of the many details reminding you that this entire world is made of paper, except for the final phase of the final boss, who is made out of cardboard instead. Some things have little designs like that. When buildings are being made you can see them get folded together out of paper materials. When you step into Decalburg at the beginning of the game you will even find it rolled up. You have to gather all the Toads so that they can push it back out, sort of like rolling out a carpet. Even stickers have their own special designs, since there's three types of stickers, (normal, shiny, and flashy) they each have their own designs. Normal stickers have nothing special to them, just a plain old sticker. But a shiny sticker appears more, well, shiny. Flashy stickers have a rainbow-ish background and it sparkles just like a shiny sticker. You may notice that some bosses have the same color design as a flashy sticker. Take a look. There's also the 3-D effect that's in act with this game. During the Bowser attack at the beginning, Bowser makes a dark wind and apparently the 3-D in that scene is really good.___ Next up, sound. None of the music was very memorable except for the boss theme in world 3. ... Read the rest of this Review
Mario Party 6

Mario Party 6
Mario Party 6 was the first Mario Party game I've ever played. I would play this game with my aunt, my cousin, and even my parents ( my father surprisingly always chose Peach for his character so my mother came up with the nickname "Princess Honey" for him ). Unfortunately, not all good times last forever. One day, we turned on our GameCube and a message came up saying that the game disc could not be read. Sometimes, it would play halfway through a game and the message would pop up. A few months later, the game was nowhere to be found and it was never played again. We were never able to find this game in any store. But I still have memories, and that's what's helping me write this. I remember the graphics not being too bad. They don't have anything wrong with it, but there's really nothing that sticks out. I guess that Astro Avenue and all the other mini games and stuff that have to do with space look pretty cool. I don't really remember all that much about the graphics except for one thing. Every three turns day switches to night. During night time, it affects the board and how it looks. It also affects the mini games. As an example, in the Daft Rafts mini game, during the day there's spinies on the rafts. At night, there's podoboos on the rafts. There's small changes like that for a lot of mini games. I remember some of the music in this game being in between good and bad. I've listened to some of it, and currently I like the music for E. Gadds Garage. It sounds like machinery at work which E. Gadd is very intelligent so it fits in. I also like the music for Astro Avenue. It sounds like your going on an adventure through space. It sounds really good, but I definitely have heard better music. One thing I should mention is that the music sounds different at night than during the day. It's just a slight change, and it doesn't really make it sound much better, but it's in the game. I guess Mario Party 6 wasn't too good on music. This game is pretty addicting. When... Super Mario Galaxy 2

Super Mario Galaxy 2 - Another Cosmic Adventure
A second Super Mario Galaxy game! I was very excited when I heard news that this came out. When I played it I had a lot of fun. I thought it was even better than the first game. However, there are a few people that think that the first game was better. After I heard this I went back to play the original game again and even watched a few videos. Ever since then I've been unsure of which game I like ether even though I was never able to complete the first game. I'll probably figure it out sooner or later, just not right now. The graphics in this game are good. I don't think I would say they are as good as the last game though. I'm not saying the graphics are bad, all I'm saying is that the first game started out a little better when it came to graphics. One thing that looks good in my opinion is in Yoshi Star Galaxy. When you use the launch star after eating the giant plant, the volcano explodes. I think it looks pretty amazing since you're flying through the sky and then something explodes behind you like you're in the movies. Later on the graphics do get better. As an example, the background in Chompworks Galaxy looks very good while your flying in. All the colors mixed in looks amazing and what you would expect out of a game like this.I think the sound in this game is alright. I've listened to some of the music. Right now I like the music in Beat Block Galaxy is pretty good. I don't think it's as good as Gusty Garden Galaxy or Buoy Base Galaxy from the first game. However, one that might come close in my opinion is Fleet Glide Galaxy. It sounds very inspirational. It has that tune that you will remember when you need to. Another song I heard and thought wasn't that bad was the music for Freezy Flake Galaxy. This song sounds like you are taking a walk in the snow. It's kind of slow, kind of simple, but I think it's a good song. The last song I will talk about is Spin-Dig Galaxy. I think it sounds pretty good. In my opinion it sounds a little bit like party music. It... Read the rest of this Review

Super Mario Galaxy - A Cosmic Adventure
Super Mario Galaxy was the first game I had for my Wii. I got this game for my birthday along with my Wii. It was a very fun but difficult game. There was a lot to do this game and I liked it a lot.

I think the graphics in this game are amazing. You're traveling through space so obviously Nintendo used the Wii to it's best potential. You get to travel to a lot of different planets and the designs you see is amazing. One thing I can definitely say looks really cool is the star bits raining down onto the planets. I also like the design for the black holes that you get sucked into when you die.

The sound in this game is good. The music for Gusty Garden is a really good one from what I've heard. I like it, but I feel that it's not the best music. It is still good, but I really like the music for a purple comet. I find it good because it makes me feel like I'm actually running around space somehow. I had to listen to this song a hundred times trying to collect the purple coins in Toy Time Galaxy. Another one that I heard and thought was really good was the Buoy Base Galaxy music. It makes me feel inspired. There's a lot of good music in Super Mario Galaxy.

This game is not super addicting, but it is hard to stop playing. This is an adventure type game and it's really long. I don't exactly like these types of games. However, I found this game really fun. Sometimes the difficulty gets to you and you get so aggravated that you just stop playing. Sometimes I just don't want to play this game though. I will play this game a lot though when I'm on a roll and I get a lot done. Otherwise I find this game easy to walk away from.

This game has a bigger story than usual. The Star Festival has come to the Mushroom Kingdom. The Star Festival occurs every one hundred years. So the princess sends Mario a letter inviting him to the Star Festival, saying she has something to give him. So Mario makes his way to the castle.... Read the rest of this Review

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

Character Guide: Toon Link
How to Play as Toon Link in SSBUToon Link is a character I’ve been talking a lot about recently. I literally just finished a review for Wind Waker HD a few days ago. So my next step was to write a guide for him in SSBU. Toon Link is an amazing character with very good projectiles and all around good attacks. So let’s jump into my guide for the Waker of the Winds, Toon Link.
What Tier/Class is Toon Link? I’m pretty sure that Toon Link is another all-around character. None of his stats are particularly high but none of them are really low either. Along with that, Toon Link is also a swordfighter, he uses the legendary Master Sword in battle.
Basic MovesetSo Toon Link’s basic moveset is pretty much a bunch of sword swings. His jab is a three-hit sword combo. Side tilt is an forward overhead slash, up tilt is also an overhead slash but aims up more than to the side as you can imagine. The up tilt can be good for juggling at lower percents. Down tilt comes out super fast and can even trip opponents sometimes, which usually follows up nicely with a dash attack. Speaking of which, the dash attack is a forward slash. The side smash is a forward slash which if you input the attack again it delivers a more powerful second slash. You can even wait a little bit before inputting the attack a second time, this can be extremely useful since opponents may drop their shield thinking that the attack is over when it’s not. Up smash is a powerful overhead swing of the sword. Side smash is also very useful for KO. Unlike Link’s up smash, Toon Link only swings his sword once as opposed to three times. Down smash swings the sword at Toon Link’s feet, he attacks one side first and then delivers the second swing to the other side. If the first hit connects with your opponent, it will usually hit them into the second swing. Forward air is a heavy sword swing, very useful for KO-ing opponents off-stage. Back air is a similar sword s... Read the rest of this Guide
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

Character Guide: Mario
How to play as Mario in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.   Although he may not look it, Mario is a very good character to use in Super Smash bros. for the Wii U. His attacks just seem like they were created to confuse and tease your opponents, which may not seem helpful but is entirely game breaking. To be sure that everything about Mario is covered, I will talk about custom move sets and special advantages that he has over other characters. Let’s begin then.

What tier/class is Mario?   Classes are the groups that characters are placed in based on their skills. Mario is a balanced character or an all-around character. This means that Mario doesn’t have any really good stats that will help you in certain situations, but it also means that he has no weaknesses so nothing can be used against you much in battle except for lack of skill, but that depends on the player. If you don’t like balanced characters, you can still use Mario and make him fast, powerful, or defensive whatever you would like. You can adjust his stats by customizing him, something new that was added in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS.   Basic Move set    There are two attack buttons, A and B. A is for standard attacks and B is for special attacks. For now I will focus on basic attacks. By just pressing A, Mario will punch and if it is pressed repeatedly, it turns into a punch, punch, kick combo. Up light is a small punch in the air that will send opponents flying upwards. Up smash is a head butt that is stronger and sends opponents flying even further upwards. Down light is a sweeping kick that does’t do much but send opponents up a short distance, it is useful to make a few combos. Down smash is another kind of sweep, but this one is stronger, sends opponents flying further and attacks in front and back. It is not very useful for KO but it will manage to do so sometimes. Side light is a small kick that barely gets opponents off ... Read the rest of this Guide
