Legend of Zelda, The: The Wind Waker HD

A Great Adventure Remade
Zelda games never fail to amaze me, I don't know why but there is something about this game series that is special to me. Maybe it's my love for exploring, maybe it's my desire for adventure. Whatever it may be, Wind Waker HD inspired me. It inspired me in a way I can't explain. It inspired me to do something, just something. Like I said, kind of hard to explain. But hey, I'm glad to be writing a review to my favorite Zelda game of all time. Admittedly, I've never gotten to play this game, not even on the Gamecube. So how could I love a game so much having never played it? I find myself to be asking this question a lot, and my answer is along the lines of, "It's just a really great game." And I'm not even a Zelda fanboy, I prefer platformers over puzzle games, but Wind Waker was different for me. The graphics, the music, everything was perfect. I might even get this game in the near future, but let's get through this review first.

Graphics

Wind Waker decided to do something different with it's graphic scheme. It ended up being a cartoon style graphic scheme, which I really enjoyed looking at. When I first heard that Wind Waker was getting an HD remake I thought, "wait, but it has cartoon-style graphics. How can they put it in HD?" And I was blown away when I saw the new graphics. Wind Waker HD runs at 1080p, which is a big step up from the original 480p. A lot more things have been done with the "shading."There was a bigger difference in lighting compared to the original game, you can read more about this online if you would like but this was as far as I could get without feeling like I was copying. There are also effects with Link's shadow now. Before you wouldn't see Link's shadow when he climbed ladders and did other tasks. But this was of course added into the HD version of the game. The room with Puppet Ganon has shallow water in it, which in the original game only reflected a few objects in the room. Now it reflects everything including Link.... Read the rest of this Review
Paper Mario: Sticker Star

Paper Mario Sticker Star
Paper Mario Sticker Star, a game that I have really enjoyed playing. It's a slight bit different form the previous Paper Mario games, and that's what I like about it. Not everyone can stick to the same thing forever, that's why they add new things to games. the new thing to this game is stickers. It does add a little bit more to the game since you have attacks, but you have a limited amount of them and a limited amount of space for attacks. Paper Mario Sticker Star is not the most challenging game, but it takes more thinking than you'd think.?___ Let's start by talking about the graphics. They aren't exactly realistic, but they definitely got a paper detail good. In the beginning of the game after the Bowser Attack, you find yourself crumpled up. Being crumpled up is obviously one of the many details reminding you that this entire world is made of paper, except for the final phase of the final boss, who is made out of cardboard instead. Some things have little designs like that. When buildings are being made you can see them get folded together out of paper materials. When you step into Decalburg at the beginning of the game you will even find it rolled up. You have to gather all the Toads so that they can push it back out, sort of like rolling out a carpet. Even stickers have their own special designs, since there's three types of stickers, (normal, shiny, and flashy) they each have their own designs. Normal stickers have nothing special to them, just a plain old sticker. But a shiny sticker appears more, well, shiny. Flashy stickers have a rainbow-ish background and it sparkles just like a shiny sticker. You may notice that some bosses have the same color design as a flashy sticker. Take a look. There's also the 3-D effect that's in act with this game. During the Bowser attack at the beginning, Bowser makes a dark wind and apparently the 3-D in that scene is really good.___ Next up, sound. None of the music was very memorable except for the boss theme in world 3. ... Read the rest of this Review
Mario Party 6

Mario Party 6
Mario Party 6 was the first Mario Party game I've ever played. I would play this game with my aunt, my cousin, and even my parents ( my father surprisingly always chose Peach for his character so my mother came up with the nickname "Princess Honey" for him ). Unfortunately, not all good times last forever. One day, we turned on our GameCube and a message came up saying that the game disc could not be read. Sometimes, it would play halfway through a game and the message would pop up. A few months later, the game was nowhere to be found and it was never played again. We were never able to find this game in any store. But I still have memories, and that's what's helping me write this. I remember the graphics not being too bad. They don't have anything wrong with it, but there's really nothing that sticks out. I guess that Astro Avenue and all the other mini games and stuff that have to do with space look pretty cool. I don't really remember all that much about the graphics except for one thing. Every three turns day switches to night. During night time, it affects the board and how it looks. It also affects the mini games. As an example, in the Daft Rafts mini game, during the day there's spinies on the rafts. At night, there's podoboos on the rafts. There's small changes like that for a lot of mini games. I remember some of the music in this game being in between good and bad. I've listened to some of it, and currently I like the music for E. Gadds Garage. It sounds like machinery at work which E. Gadd is very intelligent so it fits in. I also like the music for Astro Avenue. It sounds like your going on an adventure through space. It sounds really good, but I definitely have heard better music. One thing I should mention is that the music sounds different at night than during the day. It's just a slight change, and it doesn't really make it sound much better, but it's in the game. I guess Mario Party 6 wasn't too good on music. This game is pretty addicting. When... Super Mario Galaxy 2 - Another Cosmic Adventure
A second Super Mario Galaxy game! I was very excited when I heard news that this came out. When I played it I had a lot of fun. I thought it was even better than the first game. However, there are a few people that think that the first game was better. After I heard this I went back to play the original game again and even watched a few videos. Ever since then I've been unsure of which game I like ether even though I was never able to complete the first game. I'll probably figure it out sooner or later, just not right now. The graphics in this game are good. I don't think I would say they are as good as the last game though. I'm not saying the graphics are bad, all I'm saying is that the first game started out a little better when it came to graphics. One thing that looks good in my opinion is in Yoshi Star Galaxy. When you use the launch star after eating the giant plant, the volcano explodes. I think it looks pretty amazing since you're flying through the sky and then something explodes behind you like you're in the movies. Later on the graphics do get better. As an example, the background in Chompworks Galaxy looks very good while your flying in. All the colors mixed in looks amazing and what you would expect out of a game like this.I think the sound in this game is alright. I've listened to some of the music. Right now I like the music in Beat Block Galaxy is pretty good. I don't think it's as good as Gusty Garden Galaxy or Buoy Base Galaxy from the first game. However, one that might come close in my opinion is Fleet Glide Galaxy. It sounds very inspirational. It has that tune that you will remember when you need to. Another song I heard and thought wasn't that bad was the music for Freezy Flake Galaxy. This song sounds like you are taking a walk in the snow. It's kind of slow, kind of simple, but I think it's a good song. The last song I will talk about is Spin-Dig Galaxy. I think it sounds pretty good. In my opinion it sounds a little bit like party music. It... Read the rest of this Review

Super Mario Galaxy - A Cosmic Adventure
Super Mario Galaxy was the first game I had for my Wii. I got this game for my birthday along with my Wii. It was a very fun but difficult game. There was a lot to do this game and I liked it a lot.

I think the graphics in this game are amazing. You're traveling through space so obviously Nintendo used the Wii to it's best potential. You get to travel to a lot of different planets and the designs you see is amazing. One thing I can definitely say looks really cool is the star bits raining down onto the planets. I also like the design for the black holes that you get sucked into when you die.

The sound in this game is good. The music for Gusty Garden is a really good one from what I've heard. I like it, but I feel that it's not the best music. It is still good, but I really like the music for a purple comet. I find it good because it makes me feel like I'm actually running around space somehow. I had to listen to this song a hundred times trying to collect the purple coins in Toy Time Galaxy. Another one that I heard and thought was really good was the Buoy Base Galaxy music. It makes me feel inspired. There's a lot of good music in Super Mario Galaxy.

This game is not super addicting, but it is hard to stop playing. This is an adventure type game and it's really long. I don't exactly like these types of games. However, I found this game really fun. Sometimes the difficulty gets to you and you get so aggravated that you just stop playing. Sometimes I just don't want to play this game though. I will play this game a lot though when I'm on a roll and I get a lot done. Otherwise I find this game easy to walk away from.

This game has a bigger story than usual. The Star Festival has come to the Mushroom Kingdom. The Star Festival occurs every one hundred years. So the princess sends Mario a letter inviting him to the Star Festival, saying she has something to give him. So Mario makes his way to the castle.... Read the rest of this Review
Nintendo Land

Nintendo Land
Nintendo Land was the third game I bought for the Wii U. It is the best Wii U game we have right now in my opinion. Nintendo Land acts like a place where you get to play games. But these aren't ordinary games, these are games featuring Nintendo characters. Some are puzzle games, some are competitive games and some games you play as a team. I think that the competitive games and team games make it a great party game and family game.

I think the graphics in this game are good. There are trophies and such around the plaza that you can touch and they will do things. I think the design for these trophies is really good. Another thing is the attractions,  Mario Chase I think has a good course design. I also think that The Legend of Zelda attraction also has really good design. I think the enemies look like yarn in that attraction, I like that. Don't forget the Pikmin attraction, that has good graphics too. I like how they designed the costumes in the game, costumes such as Mario, Luigi, Toad, Olimar, Pikmin and all the other costumes look great.

I think the sound is really good in this game. They remixed a lot of songs and they sound really good. You know that song from Super Mario Bros. 3? They remixed it and I liked it a lot. There's also different music for each time of day, morning, evening and night. Not only do I think these look really cool but the music is amazing. Morning just sounds really happy, evening is really calm, night is a remix of morning but it sounds really good. I love the music in this game.

This game is really addicting. It sometimes runs out of things to do, but if you have a lot of people playing this game with you, you won't stop playing for a while. The competitive attractions make this game really fun and amazing. I'm always playing Luigi's Ghost Mansion or Mario Chase with my brother.  We won't stop playing for a long time or until my brother starts being a sore loser. I wish that they had m... Mario Strikers Charged

My Favorite Type of Soccer
This game is one of my favorites of all time! I seriously want my whole life to be like this game. It's a fun and thrilling game about soccer. My favorite sport recreated in my favorite way! This is my review for Mario Strikers Charged.

The graphics in this game are really good. I think the design for character and sidekick outfits are great, but what I really like is the art for each captains special shot. I can see burn marks on the ground after an explosion and things all around that look really good.

Sounds in this game are also good. There are sounds for the ball bouncing on metal ground, background music for special captain shots, sounds for evading (Wii remote D-pad), and tons of other sounds like people getting electrocuted. The music though, I think that it's mainly rock music, it plays for the opening scene and sudden death. I haven't noticed any other kinds of music besides character select and the title screen.

This game is really addicting. I've played this game for three hours once. It's just so thrilling especially in striker cup. There's always so much going on. I don't know what Nintendo did but whatever they did you will never put down the controller.

This game doesn't really have a story. You're just climbing up the ranks to be the ultimate soccer player. Doesn't really sound too thrilling but trust me it is awesome!

This game doesn't have that much to do. It has missions which you will get a cheat for if you complete it (there is one for every character). It has a mode where you can play with the AI or someone else and you can use the cheats in your game (some of them are really annoying). Then of course it has a story mode where you become the ultimate soccer player. Then it has a mode where you can play with people around the world with WIFI. Unfortunately my house has a WIFI error so I was never able to play with anyone.

This game is hard. It's easy in the fire cup as long as you set the d... Read the rest of this Review
Super Mario Sunshine

Super Mario Sunshine
This game was a game that I started growing up with. I played this game a lot but I was never really as good as my aunt, until now. I really enjoyed playing Super Mario Sunshine.

The graphics in Super Mario Sunshine was good, at least I think so. i think the design for FLUDD is cool. I also like that when Mario walks or slides into the goop, the goop gets on him and it looks really cool. I think that the goop itself looks good too. It looks kind of like paint, but at the same time, you know that it's not paint because it's moving. There is one problem that I know about though. If you grab a shine while spraying water, Mario will do his dance and pose. When he's posed, you can see FLUDD acting like he's spraying water and partially going through Mario's head. That's really the only problem I've noticed throughout the game.

I like the music in this game. I like the music like Noki Bay. It seems like it describes the scene very well. I also like the music for Delfino Plaza and Ricco Harbor. I also like the sound for spraying water. It sounds like water being shot out of a machine, because that's what it is. I really like the music for Sirena Beach. It seems like a calm song. which would make sense since you're in a hotel by the beach. Then there's Pinna Park. It sounds just like amusement park music, it feels like you're having fun, it has a happy beat, it's the perfect song!

I'm likely to play this game for a while once I turn it on. It all depends if I can get any shine sprites. As long as I keep winning I'll keep playing. Somehow it does get boring though. It might be because I like multiplayer games like Mario Kart and want to play that with somebody. I will play this game for two hours though and get a few shine sprites doing that. If it's a really difficult mission then I would play it for a while.

The story in this Mario game is slightly different. Mario and friends decide to have a vacation so they head to Isle Delfino for on... Read the rest of this Review
Super Smash Bros. Melee

Super Smash Bros. Melee
Super Smash Bros. was a fighting game for the Nintendo 64. It was a good game because it was addicting and difficult. Super Smash Bros. Melee is a different story, but not in a bad way. It was a good game with loads of new characters with new attacks. So let's brawl! Oh wait, that's the wrong game.

The graphics in this game are ok, I just sometimes feel like the characters look a little like a cartoon. They just look too bright. It might just be my TV. After a long look, I do think this game is good on it's 3D effect. I paused and took a good look at Yoshi's Island and it looks good. The area Big Blue looks just a little bit bright on my TV. But in Jungle Japes, I think the look of the water is really outstanding. Plus, if you look in the window you see Cranky Kong doing random things in his cabin.

Sound is this game is good. I would say that most of the sound is actually taken from the Nintendo games. But fighting sounds are good. By that I mean the sounds you make when you're hitting someone. Sound really was amazing I guess.

The addictiveness of this game is that you will stop playing after a while. I have never played this game for more than an hour and a half. It is an outstanding fighting game, it just doesn't get too addicting unless you're fighting level nine AI, or doing the final challenge.
I will not stop trying the final challenge for a while. I even thought I beat it once, but that was a dream. Anyways, this game is addicting, just not addicting to the point where I would play it for 3 hours.

There is no story for this game, I do not know what the whole deal is with the giant hand is though. But that's not the point, there is no story for this game.

This game has so many unlockable characters and so much to do to get all of them. For the last character you need to complete target smash with every character except for him. The character you unlock by doing this is Mr. game and watch. There are also m... Read the rest of this Review
Mario Kart Double Dash
02-28-14 04:50 PM
The Best Race Ever!!!
Mario Kart Double Dash, very fitting name for a very good game. Mario Kart Double Dash is a Mario racing game, there was Super Mario Kart and Mario Kart 64. Both were good games but neither were like this. Instead of just one driver, you have a choice of two characters. Each character has it's own special item. Babies usually have the best items but the worst cars, adults such as Mario and Luigi have decent items and decent cars. Other adults such as Bowser and DK have good cars but not very good items. They always do it fair. There are many combinations of characters which will affect your car and special items. Let's get more into it.

This games graphics are really good. It's just that sometimes I feel like the characters look like clay or something. This usually happens after the race. Other than the character design being a little weird a have no problem with this game. Item pictures, kart design, course design, it's all perfect. At least to me it is.

Sound is good, it really does feel like racing music. Especially Rainbow Road, that one really makes it feel like you're flying above a city on a rainbow! But you can't forget about Sherbet Land! Sherbet Land has great music, it still maintains the fact that you're racing but it also transports you into a different world. It has a really good tune, I love it so much.

Addictiveness for this game is unbelievable. My family and I will play this game for 3 hours straight! It gets really competitive and a lot of fun! Playing battle mode and trying to kill each other. If we didn't have important things to do, we would probably play this all night. But it definitely does get boring after a while. It does begin to feel like you're just doing the same thing over and over again.

This game has no story. All you're doing is racing, there is no point to this game. There are tons of unlockables such as charcters and other tours. But there's no story, the real story is to have fun.

Mario Party 8

Mario Party's Downfall?
Mario Party 8 was possibly my least favorite in the series of Mario Party. There were still mini games and characters to unlock, but nothing was done as well as the last Mario Party. The mini games were not all that exciting, the board gimmicks were the same in some boards and they got rid of orbs which can be used on spaces. But in Mario Party 8, they replaced it with candy which can not be used on spaces. After Mario Party 7 I was expecting something good but I was wrong.

The graphics for this game are good, it is a wii game. You can expect something like that I guess. There were no points in the game where I felt like there was something wrong with the graphics. I thought it was really cool that they had a way to show you the movement for how to play the mini games by showing Mario's arms holding a wii remote and moving it to show you how to play.

The sound is not bad, I guess it explains what you're doing in some maps. I definitely think the music in DK's Treetop Temple is very explaining that you're in the jungle. However, Shy Guys Perplex Express is one of the few that does not stick out to me as being on a train. I definitely think that other sounds such as character emotions are okay though.

The addictiveness of this game is the same as any other. I would play through one game and that would be it. I get bored of this game within the time that I'm playing it. The mini games are not as exciting. Compare Swing Kings to Bubble Brawl in Mario Party 7. In Swing Kings you have to see how many baseballs you can hit while in Bubble Brawl you're fighting for your life inside a bubble. Which do you prefer? In Mario Party 8 my favorite mini game is King of the Thrill, a fighting mini game in Mario Party 8. In Mario Party 7, I can't decide which one is my favorite because there's so many good ones.

In story mode, you must defeat every player on every board in a duel to get the ultimate prize. What's ... Read the rest of this Review

Mario Party 7
Mario Party 7 was a game that had many memorable things to it. With its exciting new mini games and its exclusive 8-player party mode, this was a game to remember. What you may not know about Mario Party 7 is that each board features a different gimmick and actual place in reality. Italy, New York, Egypt, and a few others.

The graphics in this game are not too bad. Comparing this to Super Smash Bros. Melee, the graphics are better. The characters look fine but sometimes you think that some things are too bright and others are fine. If you really want to see where graphics stick out to me, look at the details in the mini games. Some really describe where you are.

The sound was really amazing it is kind of catchy. The music explained things when you think about it. Maybe it's just me? Character voice was ok. You can tell when they are happy, sad, or even intimidating other players. The sound for me was amazing especially Neon Heights and Pagoda Peak those two really describe where you are. The music helps you figure out what place it is (in reality of course)!

The addictiveness of this game is alright. I would sit through a 20 or 25 turn game, but i won't go for an extremely long game unless it's really fun. After I play party cruise I would probably turn the game off. Maybe I would play deluxe cruise, but other than that I would turn it off. The most i would ever play this game is 2 and a half hours.

The story isn't all that good, Toadsworth invites the gang on a cruise around the world. The gang decides to go so they hop on the cruise ship and Bowser gets angry because they didn't invite him. So he causes havoc during your party. Every five turns, Bowser will do a random event that could possibly change the game. Kind of exciting I guess, but what did you expect?

This game does have quite a bit to it. It has a lot of minigames to get, it offers six party boards. A solo mode which can be playe... Read the rest of this Review

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

Character Guide: Toon Link
How to Play as Toon Link in SSBUToon Link is a character I’ve been talking a lot about recently. I literally just finished a review for Wind Waker HD a few days ago. So my next step was to write a guide for him in SSBU. Toon Link is an amazing character with very good projectiles and all around good attacks. So let’s jump into my guide for the Waker of the Winds, Toon Link.
What Tier/Class is Toon Link? I’m pretty sure that Toon Link is another all-around character. None of his stats are particularly high but none of them are really low either. Along with that, Toon Link is also a swordfighter, he uses the legendary Master Sword in battle.
Basic MovesetSo Toon Link’s basic moveset is pretty much a bunch of sword swings. His jab is a three-hit sword combo. Side tilt is an forward overhead slash, up tilt is also an overhead slash but aims up more than to the side as you can imagine. The up tilt can be good for juggling at lower percents. Down tilt comes out super fast and can even trip opponents sometimes, which usually follows up nicely with a dash attack. Speaking of which, the dash attack is a forward slash. The side smash is a forward slash which if you input the attack again it delivers a more powerful second slash. You can even wait a little bit before inputting the attack a second time, this can be extremely useful since opponents may drop their shield thinking that the attack is over when it’s not. Up smash is a powerful overhead swing of the sword. Side smash is also very useful for KO. Unlike Link’s up smash, Toon Link only swings his sword once as opposed to three times. Down smash swings the sword at Toon Link’s feet, he attacks one side first and then delivers the second swing to the other side. If the first hit connects with your opponent, it will usually hit them into the second swing. Forward air is a heavy sword swing, very useful for KO-ing opponents off-stage. Back air is a similar sword s... Read the rest of this Guide
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

Character Guide: Mario
How to play as Mario in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.   Although he may not look it, Mario is a very good character to use in Super Smash bros. for the Wii U. His attacks just seem like they were created to confuse and tease your opponents, which may not seem helpful but is entirely game breaking. To be sure that everything about Mario is covered, I will talk about custom move sets and special advantages that he has over other characters. Let’s begin then.

What tier/class is Mario?   Classes are the groups that characters are placed in based on their skills. Mario is a balanced character or an all-around character. This means that Mario doesn’t have any really good stats that will help you in certain situations, but it also means that he has no weaknesses so nothing can be used against you much in battle except for lack of skill, but that depends on the player. If you don’t like balanced characters, you can still use Mario and make him fast, powerful, or defensive whatever you would like. You can adjust his stats by customizing him, something new that was added in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS.   Basic Move set    There are two attack buttons, A and B. A is for standard attacks and B is for special attacks. For now I will focus on basic attacks. By just pressing A, Mario will punch and if it is pressed repeatedly, it turns into a punch, punch, kick combo. Up light is a small punch in the air that will send opponents flying upwards. Up smash is a head butt that is stronger and sends opponents flying even further upwards. Down light is a sweeping kick that does’t do much but send opponents up a short distance, it is useful to make a few combos. Down smash is another kind of sweep, but this one is stronger, sends opponents flying further and attacks in front and back. It is not very useful for KO but it will manage to do so sometimes. Side light is a small kick that barely gets opponents off ... Read the rest of this Guide
