Ultimate spider-man review
This is the first spider man/ marvel game I have played and I think that it is meant for those who enjoy marvel games and lots of fun. I had a great time playing this game and it left me with loads to do and many hours of satisfaction.
Graphics: 9
I think the graphics for this game are actually pretty good, there is detail on the buildings to show that they are old by seeing tears and ripped plaster or sections missing and there are bricks and texture implied on all of them. Spidey looks pretty good too and the thugs have a decent amount of detail to them. The graphics are exceptionally good and I like the way they look in the game and a decent amount of effort was put into making them. I scored the graphics a 9 because they look nice in the game and a good amount of detail and effort was put into making them.
Sound: 7
The sound of the game is pretty good and I enjoy hearing it, it is catchy when you are running and fighting thugs. And it is like I always say, it makes the game even better when there is a catchy tune to listen to while playing. I like the sounds and the music gets you into playing the game, especially the levels with the burning buildings. I enjoy all of the sounds in this game and how catchy the tunes are when you are playing through it. I scored it a 7 because it ca get a little repetitive because there are a few levels in each chapter and the music does repeat a lot, but other than that the music is really great and I like hearing it, it makes it more fun to play instead of having a silent dull atmosphere which is never what you want to have when you are playing a game because it makes it less interesting and enjoyable to play.
Addictiveness: 5
I did play this game a few times over because I liked the plot and I found it addicting beating up the thugs to rescue civilians and get through the levels. I found the game a little hard at first, but once I learned how to use web capture and how to swing and do combo moves in midair, I got better and I beat up the thugs quicker. I think the game maybe not as addicting as it could be because if you get cornered and there are thugs hitting you with baseball bats, it gets hard to move and fight back and if you die you have to start that level over from where you begun last finished the last objective, which is why I rated it a 5 for addictiveness, just because of how far back you have to go if you die and fail at the objective.
Story: 9
The story starts off with a recap of peter Parker's and his friend Eddie Brock's fathers worked together for Trask industries to find a cure for cancer, but they die in a plane crash before the venom suit's completion. Spider-man breaks into the vault containing the substance and spills it on himself, the suit gave him new abilities and powers but it consumed him and drained him from the experience. Later, Eddie fins out about this and he takes the rest of the substance and takes the name of venom for himself. Later Peter and venom confront and fight on the high school football field before venom disappeared and months pass and months later, Silver Sable and her group attack venom who escapes and then battles spider man again before being captured. Overall I like the storyline of the game and how the levels in the game lead up to that. I enjoy each level and all of the gameplay. I rated the story a 9 because it leads into what happened perfectly and each chapter of the game smoothly into the battle against venom/ Eddie Brock.
Depth: 8
The game does offer a lot of levels in each chapter that lead down to fighting against venom. You play throughout Manhattan and Queens, and there is a decent amount of stuff to do, like in the beginning you rescue civilians from the burning buildings, fight off against thugs, you pretty much start off with little city goals to complete as you go through the game/ There are 7 issues which each contain 3 issues, so there is a decent amount of stuff to do in the game. I rated the depth an 8 because there are lots of little tasks you do throughout the game that add up for hours of great gameplay in each issue.
Difficulty: 5
It may start of as a little difficult if you don't know the controls or how to cling to walls at first. But the basic ones are Z to cling to wally while pressing an arrow on the keypad, Z also lets you jump and to swing, you tap it again to web swing. A lets you launch web captures which can tangle people up in webs by using web fluid which can be refilled with web fluid containers. S lets you kick your enemies and X lets you punch them. Once you get familiar with your controls, it gets easier to cling to things, swing webs and defeat thugs and enemies. Just a little practice is all it takes to get the hang of it. I wouldn't stress out to much about the difficulty, just getting familiar with the controls and the game gets so much easier which is why I rated it a 5 for difficulty.
Overall: 9.5
I enjoyed this game overall, there is lots of stuff to do throughout the game and it will guarantee a lot of fun. There are 7 issues of the game each of which have 3 chapters, so you can be kept busy with 21 chapters in all, so it is a fun game to play that has a lot to do and enjoy as it leads up to the fight with venom. I recommend this game to those who like challenges and an extensive gameplay and hours of fun. I had a great time playing this game, and I look forward to playing other spider man type games since this one turned out so good. This game is awesome for marvel fans!
