Super Metroid - Rise Game Description

Rise is a mini hack with about 30 rooms. Its main theme is, unsurprisingly, ascent, which means making your way straight up to reach the next room, with lots of puzzles to keep you busy. Freezing enemies to use as platforms is also an element of gameplay (unless you're good at walljumping) until you get space jump, afterwhich the game becomes more like a fight for survival. Every item in the original game is present in this hack, but with a few tweaks. You have unlimited missiles, super missiles and power bombs for example, and you start the game already having morph ball and bombs.

Most enemies and graphic sets are used, along with every single boss, which makes this hack almost like a 'condensed' version of Super Metroid. It should keep fans of the original game immersed for a while if collecting every single item is the goal. The general boss order also runs in reverse for the most part, with Ridley and Mother Brain being the first bosses you fight if you follow the normal progression, and Bomb Torizo being among the last.

Non-linearity and replay value are a main goal for this hack. If you're very skilled, it's possible to complete the game without collecting a single item. To do that, you'll need to be super good at walljumping, dodging enemies, and figuring stuff out. If you follow the general item order, you should have a fairly easy time beating it, especially if you find a lot of the hidden energy tanks. The overall difficulty has been very carefully managed, and if you have homebrew for the Wii, you should be able to play this fine on your TV with a controller without getting too frustrated (unless you just suck at playing). Same goes for emulating it on a PSP.

No real storyline, except Samus being deep underground, making her way up, and running into more and more metroids that have totally overtaken the planet's surface as she gets closer to it. There you have it.
