Super Mario Warp Zone - Secret Star Zone Game Description

This has all 15 stars from the original "Super Mario Star Zone" plus 15 secret stars. One secret star is in each level. This is a mini-hack consisting of 30 stars, custom levels, custom music and graphics. It doesn't feature game saving after obtaining each star, however, you are given 50 starting lives. You may use save states if you must.

Super Mario Warp Zone - Secret Star Zone Review by: Pacman+Mariofan - 8/10

Super Mario Warp Zone Secret Star Zone Review
Sup? Here is my review of another Super Mario 64 hack that I really like playing. This game features 30 stars. There were only 15 stars in the original version of this game called Super Mario Warp Zone but this bonus version includes 15 hidden stars.

Graphics: 8

Most of the graphics are new, but objects such as pipes, enemies, and Mario remain the same. A lot of effort and genius went into the graphics of this game. For example, "Retro Zone", one of the courses you can play in this game, is made to look somewhat similar to Super Mario Bros. graphics. It could be better, but it still looks great.

Sound: 8

All of the music is brand-new. No music was re-used from Super Mario 64. "Retro Zone", the course I just mentioned before, actually has the Super Mario Bros. main theme playing in the background. Lots of the music in this game I haven't heard in any other Super Mario 64 hack so far. I would call the music almost perfect, but the "overworld" (the place where all the level entrance pipes are located) music is really annoying because of that weird loud sound you hear that makes the music louder and it can probably hurt your ears if you have the volume turned up too loud.

Addictiveness: 6

This game is pretty short overall, and it really depends on who you are whether this game is addicting or not. I find this game to be somewhat addicting because I like challenging myself to beat this game without deaths or savestates or I try to beat this game as fast as I can. I can get easily addicted to very easy games like this one, but once again, the addictiveness can vary for everyone else.

Story: 6

There's sort of a new story to this game that you will notice if you talk to the toads. The story goes like this: you, the toads, and the princess are stuck in this warp zone area and you have to obtain at least 15 stars to go beat Bowser. I can't really say anything else.

Depth: 6

Once again, this game is much shorter than other Super Mario 64 hacks out there, and it doesn't exactly offer too much, but it might take you a while to figure out where all of the hidden stars are depending on your video game skills.

Difficulty: 7

And again, this game is pretty easy, but depending on your skill, you might not be able to get or at least even find all of the stars. I had a lot of difficulty finding a couple of the hidden stars myself and I'm pretty skilled at Super Mario 64 and hacks of it. Plus, the creator of this game made the final Bowser battle harder than in Super Mario 64.

Overall: 8

This game may be too short or too easy for you, but it's still a really great game to play if you like Super Mario 64 and are ready for a new challenge. I had a lot of fun playing through this until the end. I highly recommend trying this game out if you've played Super Mario 64 and found it fun. I also hope you enjoyed this review too. Bye!
