Review of Strikers 1945! blahblahblah213
Okay so this review has been coming for a while for me. I just didn't have the time to do it, today I'm going to review Strikers 1945: a game within World War II...with an interesting twist.
Graphics: 10
I got to admit, the game looks very good, and the plane designs are very nice to look at. And the bosses are quite large in size compared to you and your trusty WW2 plane so it seems a bit intimidating. And the designs of the pilots (and one guy depending on what plane you choose but I'm not telling which plane it is!) are pretty nice.
Sound: 8
Unfortunately unlike the other games I've reviewed, not many songs stands out to me except for the final boss theme mainly, which is a damn shame since the soundtrack is alright. Of course being the first game in the series, the soundtrack doesn't sound as good as other games so I suppose I can consider that.
Addictiveness: 8
This is still a fun game when you get past the flaws and nit picking you might see or have. And I suppose you will keep coming back to try to get all the gold medals for a little treat at the end which I will mention in the next part of this little review.
Story: -
I have no idea why you're here if you're looking for a shooter with a decent story. May I direct you to the 3-D R-Type games, Thunder Force 3-6 (5 I might later review), or Einhander if you want a shooter with a story.
Depth: 9
I suppose this is a pretty interesting shmup. However it's no Darius mind you (why am I comparing different franchises?) With 8 stages and two loops it might keep you busy or eat your quarters depending on how good of a player you are. Which you need to be a good player to get a good ending (depending on your definition of good).
Difficulty: 8
This game isn't too hard, but the most determined players will want to try to 1CC the game if they want to get the "best ending" and or if you have the pride enough to go through both loops of the game. Of course the game does get harder within the second half of the game so trying to 1CC the game would be a little tough.
Overall Rating: 8.6
Overall, Strikers 1945 is a nice game with the core texture of a shooter and your stereotypical World War II shooter with the twist of battle ships, blimps, bomber planes transforming into mechs and then aliens! Aliens everywhere! To an ending depending on how you do would reveal that the pilots...are fairly attractive women (and one dude), and if you especially do well (meaning don't use a continue and get all the gold medals), you get what I call the "fanservice ending", which is technically the best ending of the game (I mean, if you're into that stuff). Something that Psikyo is pretty known for other than the shooters and the infamous "second loops". If that's not your thing, the game was also ported to the Saturn and the PlayStation. The fanservice endings were of course censored in the PlayStation version as well as having a lot better details in the games (including the pilots). I personally recommend this game if you're into this game. And I suppose other games I can recommend is 1942, 1943 The Battle of Midway, and...pretty much any other "normal" 1940s shooter.
