A Different direction for the makers of Pokemon cooldragon1990
I heard of this game 3 or 4 years ago, but never played it till last week, starting it on Wedensday and finishing it on Friday at 2:00 PM. I am the worst judge of a game because I end up liking most of what I play. I have played some movie based games and liked them. The only time a game truly sucks is if I can't complete it or getting stuck and dying 100 times or more in 1 day.
Drill Dozer was made by Gamefreak, the same people who were responsible for bringing us the Pokemon games. The grahpics for this game are incredable and the music and sound are engaging. I have a slight problem where I have to play with sound or else some of the enjoyment is taken away. The fights and boss battle are pretty clever and unique. It starts out as somewhat straightforward boss fights but the last two in the game get pretty unique. I am of course not counting the "final boss" because while very funny, there is no health bar and all you have to do is punch him once and the game is won. I am not the greatest gamer and struggle on areas where other gamers win quickly.
The game is very addicting and has a cast of quirky and lovable characters. Like the title suggests you have to use a drill and alternate between counterclockwise and clockwise drill directions. Or simply put, the R and L button. You better get used to drilling with R and L because a boss has you do it excessively. (Collosobot's last Energy capsule and southward passage has you alternate between R and L, often a split second after each other, and also shifting to certain gears to pass by passages all under 50 seconds) Which brings me to difficuty. While not a hard to figure out game, this isn't nearly as straightforward as other games.
For me levels themselves aren't hard or complicated, bosses especially the Drizzler, the 2nd fight against Carrie and Collosobot are challenging. There are 6 levels bringing a total to 6-2 and hidden missions where you can collect treasure and all the stuff you missed. Some of the treasure can only be collected after you beat the game but as far as I know collecting treasure only brings a satisfaction of getting 100%. Not counting getting stuck or treasure collecting, it is a short game. Everything is detailed and colorful and you know what something is at all times. I rated the depth a 9 because of treasure collecting. I could be a little off but it is a safe number. I also realize that I might have contradicted myself in the depth of the game but unless you are an expert, some treasure might take awhile to collect. The story mode itself is pretty short. I am already playing this game again because of high playability (for me) and extreme addictive gameplay.
I didn't play it on Vizzed but it is a great game and a very clever platformer. Nowhere near being related to Pokemon but it is fun nonetheles. Definitly check it out and see for yourself how amazingly addicting this game is!!!!

A fun game that came a little to late in the life cycle noobpwner59
Drill Dozer is a game that came near the end of the GBA's life cycle and was over looked by many people, not many people played and they missed out. Its a great game that is fun to play on the go or on the couch in a huge gaming session, its a fun game and feels pretty unique.Graphics: This game has some nice 2d graphics with good detail. The sprites are well done and look very nice and animations during certain scenes like the truck coming in looks really pretty for the GBA, some of the artwork looks really high quality for a GBA game, its really pretty and uses the GBA's graphical capabilities well. 9/10Sound: The game has a fun soundtrack with high energy tunes like those in Megaman, although they are not as catchy as Megaman they are still enjoyable to listen to and they fit levels well, the greatest ost ever, you will enjoy the soundtrack. The sound effects are really well done, from the sound of the drill, the clanking of the machine, the ring of the phone, this is where the sound really shines, these are great sound effects and makes it easier to get into the game. While not the best sounding game on the GBA, the music is still very enjoyable and the sound effects are great. 8/10Addictiveness, Gameplay, and Design: This game can be very fun to play, its a 2d platformer that involves using a robot that has drills for arms and plows through everything. The game uses the drill for everything except jumping, the drill is used to solve some puzzles and for platforming. There are also times in the game where you swim and fly with the drill, but these are the only parts I did not like, the controls did not work well in these parts and it feels like the game was designed to frustrate you during those parts by getting you stuck because of the controls, however these parts of the game are very few, and the rest of the game is extremely fun and well designed and there will be many moments where you will not want to put the game down, especially near the end. It feels unique and the game is fun is small or large sessions of gaming, with the drill implemented in some very unique ways. I know my scores say 8, but its actually a 8.5/10.Story: The story is surprisingly good, although its not as deep or epic as a game like Final Fantasy, its still interesting with some nice twists in the game and a bit of humor during appropriate moments. The game is about a young girl name Jill who works for her dad's gang and takes over as leader when he gets injured, and to add insult to injury (literally) her precious diamond gets stolen. It may not sound like the most interesting story ever, but there are a lot of great twists throughout, and really gets interesting. The ending is a little predictable it still works and doesn't ruin the story. Not the best story ever, for the type of game it is, it does a lot more than most stories in that genre. 810Depth and Length: This is where the game is the weakest, while its fun and has some great levels, there just isn't enough levels, I would like more levels, the game takes about 10 hours and there isn't much to do after that, there are some hidden treasures and unlockables, they are very hard to get and the game doesn't really offer a reward for getting them, maybe there is a award but I never got it because its too much of a pain. Its not a game you will get through in 2 hours it still feels like it should have a bit more to it. 6/10Difficulty: This game can actually get quite hard, although it starts out pretty easy it gets much harder as you a long, bosses are very tough, and most will take you a long time. Controls can take some getting used they never get in the except during swimming and flying parts. The game is difficult, it rarely feels cheap, the platforming sections can be tough, if you lose, its due to you needing to hone your skills, never bad design or cheap enemies, and I like that. It can be difficult, it doesn't feel cheap too often and is fun to play. 8/10Overall: The game is very fun to play and has some nice graphics, sound, with well a well implemented drill suit, and a surprisingly interesting story. I am sad that this game did not sell well because I would of loved to see a sequel, and perhaps even make this a new series. I enjoyed the game a lot and it is worth the time of anyone who enjoys a good 2d platformer as much as I do. 8.3/10
