The Donkey Kong Country Competition Cartridge is a rare SNES game which was used in the Blockbuster World Video Game Championships II event and various other video game competitions, and then sold in a Nintendo Power subscribers catalog.

The game consists of a few select levels from Donkey Kong Country with the addition of a point counter and a few minor tweaks to encourage scoring, the goal being to score as much points as possible. The Treehouse and Banana Hoard at the start of Jungle Hijinxs have been disabled and all of the Animal Tokens in the early levels have been replaced with banana bunches, making it impossible to reach the bonus round without the usage of a cheating device. The player is also given 50 starting Extra Lives instead of the 5 as in the original game.

The game has a time limit of five minutes, which is displayed at the center of the screen. After the allotted time, the game freezes.

 Yeah very hard to do while lagging on Mednafen. Timing is key when it comes to that but it would be a very fast path.

 u can get another 1-2 seconds at the start of the game by instead of tagging e/o u just jump into the 1st crocodile with DK and kill him off, it is quicker than tagging. and then u continue along the bottom instead of going the balloon route and u...

 i'd kind of like to try and perfect this route but i would feel cheap if i got 1st so i should leave it alone, it will be upsetting if other ppl beat me using this route though, im happy to be 2nd :)

 I was thinking with that route it would be possible to go around one more time or perhaps hit the cave and do the halfway barrel. Fireproof and FAST N BULBOUS would know better than me if it is possible.

 It wasn't perfect but I did that 2 days after my first. I had another route that Jerry did in the start of his vid that I would have done but it was impossible with Mednafen to do through the whole video. Hope nobody beats my score :D

 I am really impressed. I thought FAST's score couldn't be topped in this short time. And that gameplay in the 2nd video of you, Fireproof, is so well played with again another better route. Wow, just wow... :o

 Happy Birthday and yeah it was tough at first especially with Mednafen. If I was absolutely flawless I could get that cave once tho.

 thx jerry. for some reason when i try and go into that cave more than once then that final blue balloon seems to vanish which is odd, i thought maybe getting them evry lap would get better score
