Caltron 6-in-1 ReviewOh crap, THIS game. Caltron 6-in-1. Now, the title says it all. It's one of those multi-game cartridges that wasn't endorsed by Nintendo. Most games of this kind are considered pirates, but this is considered to just be unlicensed. This is the only game that has been made by Caltron. Should I be excited, or should they have realized that game companies make more than one game?
--- A clone of a rip-off. ---
The first game on here is Cosmos Cop. Now, the opening makes no sense. The first sentence is "A2010 The terror legion from ailenation space invaded galaxy". I don't think that's just me missing something. The first mission is to "cross over outside defense area". This game looks just like one fo the games from Action 52 Genesis, which looks just like Space Harrier. These ships and asteriods always start coming after you, and what doesn't help is that you only get to shoot the missles fired by pressing A twenty times, but there's the still the (weaker) missles shot by pressing B, which never run out. I'm horrible at these kind of games, so I wasn't able to make it past Mission 1. The next game is Magic Carpet 1001. It looks like you play as Imajin from Doki Doki Panic, who's riding his carpet from World 1-2. He's going around shooting bees, orange birds, and octopi with binoculars that shoot lasers. it kind of looks like Imajin is blinking, but what really happens is that he closes his eyes every time he shoots. There's really not much to say about this, it's just a space shooter with a desert background.
--- Two more copies. ---
The third game is Balloon Monster. If you've ever played Buster Bros, this will look familiar. In this remake, you play as kid who likes to shoot bubbles. it looks like he's not wearnig pants, but his pants are the same color as his shirt. Could it be because of the 3 color limitation? No, because I see 5 colors on his sprite. You can't shoot to the side, which is a major problem, since sometimes, the bubbles trap you in a corner, or stop bouncing. I don't get how this bubble the size of an SD Card is going to kill you. The fourth game, Adam and Eve, is a rip-off of Balloon Fight. It's almost the same thing, and it has nothing to do with the story from the Bible. You press A repeatedly to go up, you stomp enemies twice (the first time they get out a parachute, and the second hit kills them), the whole thing just feels like Balloon Fight. But, it does have a few original things. There are helium pumps which give you health, a bird who lays bouncing eggs, and... an apple that gives you a 1-up. Wait... the apple that Adam and Eve ate in the Bible story took away our suffer-free life and put us into depression, WHY IS IT GIVING ME LIFE? Caltron, read the Bible before you make a ame based off it. That's what Wisdom Tree did, and their games had... some relation to the Bible.
--- Caltron, can you think of ANYTHING original? ---
The fifth game is Porter, which seems a lot like Boxxle. You just have to push boxes into red X's. Level 1 just has you push them in straight rows, but Level 2 is a LOT harder. If you push them into th X's they're next to, you're trapped. If you push them around, two boxes connect and you can't fix them. If you press B, the level re-starts. There's not much to talk about, so let's look at the last game, Bookyman. This is exactly like Make Trax. I don't know what all the bears and lions (trees and cats in the original) have to do with this game, I guess they help you in some way. I don't know what's supposed to be going on, but I would give it credit if it didn't copy the Make Trax board EXACTLY. I don't get what's so tough about coming up with original ideas for games. They couldn't just make one original platformer. Instead, they made 6 rip-offs. I guess I'll see you in my next review.
