Black or White? The ongoing question before Michael Jackson came along.OVERVIEW
Known around other parts of the world as Reversi and not to be confused with Go. There are a number of empty square on the game board and it starts with two white and two black pieces in a criss-cross pattern and your goal is to have more pieces than the opposing player before either filling up the whole board or no one is able to make a legal move either way, the person with the most pieces on the board is the end. It is possible to "skunk" the opponent by completely turning the opposing player's pieces to yours leaving them with no pieces left and you win by default.
GRAPHICS - C
Don't care much for graphics as there is one background of gameplay consisting of a green background a board, game pieces and some text. There is an animation of your opponent's pieces being converted to yours if you make a successful move and the other way around and that's pretty much it for this category.
SOUND/MUSIC - D
There really is not much to say for the sound in this game. To me it is all nothing but the basic sound and nothing really stands out from there. The music is also a generic issue. Nothing to really get excited about here.
GAMEPLAY - B-
The goal here is to trapped the opponent's pieces within yours. Ex: If you are playing as the white player and there is a whole line of black player pieces in a straight line, put a white piece on the end of the black pieces and all the pieces that were in the middle of the white pieces will be turned into white pieces. There are spots on the boards that function as game changers further into the game. One minute one player is on top and the next move will have them fighting for their lives. Be the player with the most pieces at the end of the game (filled board or no more legal moves) to win or obliterate them outright if you are lucky.
REPLAY VALUE - B+
Now as far as the replay value, despite what I think about the rest of the game, it deserves a high grade here mainly because it is all about the competition. The computer-controlled opponent is one really tough nut to crack and you are really going to need to bring your "A" game with you if you expect to win. 2-player competition (vs another human opponent) is also just as good. It is a true battle of wits, strategy, and trying to out-think the other player kind of like another game I want to touch bases on in the Overall Section.
OVERALL - C+
That game in question is Chess and to a small intent Checkers. If you are a fan of those two games, then you will definitely have no problem enjoying this game. It might not seem much of a game but it is one of those games that will grow on you quickly.
