Mario Superstar Baseball Review by: tgags123 - 9.5/10
Play Ball! Mario Enters The Baseball WorldOverall (9.5)
Mario Superstar Baseball is a very fun game for the GameCube. It is a not-so-serious baseball game that features 32 Mario characters. It is a great game for not only baseball fans, but anyone that enjoys Mario as well.
Graphics (9)
The graphics in this game are very good. Everything is three dimensional and well-detailed. The characters aren't pointy or polygonal. The stands don't just look like random dots, but actual characters. Everything looks good. A variety of colors and shades are used. The graphics are just great overall.
Sound (9)
The music is catchy and appropriate for the game. The sound effects are very accurate. There are different sound effects depending on how good your contact with the ball is. If you swing with your eyes close, you will have a pretty good idea of where the ball is going just by hearing it. Each character makes a different noise when they pitch, charge up, swing, throw, catch, etc. There are various other sound effects placed in appropriate places.
Addictiveness (10)
How likely am I to play this game again. Very likely. Scratch that, definite. This game is highly addictive. It is so much fun that it is impossible to only play once. This game may have been a simple idea, but it was definitely a good one.
Story (6)
I considered putting N/A for story, but then I decided that there is one. The story is that Bowser is challenging everyone to a baseball match because he thinks he is the best. You have to defeat every other team (Donkey Kong, Yoshi, Mario, Peach, and Wario, depending on which character you pick) and recruit them for your team. After you do this you can challenge Bowser.
Depth (8)
There is a good amount of things to do in Mario Superstar Baseball. You can defeat Challenge Mode on every difficulty, try to complete each characters individual challenges, or play the other modes that this game has to offer. One of the modes in Toy Field. In toy field, you and three other players or computers take turns hitting, pitching, and fielding. There are tiles on the floor. If a batted ball lands on that tile, the hitter gets whatever the tile says. The player with the most points at the end wins. Another game mode is Exhibition Mode. You choose your team and play against another player or computer. There are also a bunch of other mini games that you can play.
Difficulty (6)
It is kind of hard to rate the difficulty of a game with multiple difficulties. The easy difficulties are easy and the hard ones are hard. Pretty simple. For the most part, this game is pretty easy. The controls are simple and easy to learn.
Mario Superstar Baseball is a fun GameCube game that I highly recommend. There are a lot of fun game modes and the controls are simple. Once you start playing, you will not want to stop. The graphics are good and the sound effects are accurate and placed in appropriate spots. If you see this game at GameStop, buy it. It is a great game.
