Jetpack Joyride Review by: zanderlex - 9.2/10
Press X to Jump A really long time ago, I did a review on the windows phone version of the game, but compared to this version of the game, I rarely played it. I likes the mobile version of the game because it was more easily accessible but when it comes to the two titles, I have already amassed more than 20 hours of game play into this one before I even found out about the mobile version. I definitely like this version much more and just recently started playing it a lot again lately.
GRAPHICS: 9/10
The graphics are just about the same as what they were like in the other version. They are simple because of the small screen size, however the screen of this version is roughly twice as big so it's easier to see and because of that, the backgrounds and animations also run a bit smoother and break less often. For the most part, there isn't really much to the graphics because it's just a bunch of different backgrounds rolling past as you guy buy them but the game is full of color and looks really good.
SOUND: 8/10
Again, the sounds are similar to the graphics in that there is little difference between the versions, except that like I had mentioned with the graphics, they break less. You have the same music, which is pretty cool and a bunch of different sound effects, but they sound smoother and clearer than the other version and they work really well with the pace of the game.
ADDICTIVENESS: 10/10
The game is just soooo addicting. All you are doing is trying to pass your high score, but the game is so much fun that even if you go 100 rounds without getting anywhere near your high score, you could end up still having a lot of fun. There's so many different gadgets and gizmos to unlock, and even though I completely unlocked everything in the game months ago, I still play the game a lot because it's still tons of fun completing missions and seeing how far you can go each time. I have already gone well past level 200 and im not slowing down because I still have fun playing. This is the kind of game you can waste away for hours playing.
STORY: N/A
If you want some sort of a story that has depth, then you have come to the wrong place because this game has virtually no story. I guess the closest thing that you can get to a story is the fact that some guy is breaking into a high tech weapons facility to steal a jetpack. Other than that, the whole game is all about going as far as you can and collecting a ton of points and coins.
DEPTH: 8/10
The game has a heck of a lot to offer, first to see how big the game is all you need to do is look at the number of levels and goals that there are. There has to be hundreds of reusable goals, with each one awarding you with 1, 2, or 3 stars upon completion. Once you get enough stars, you move up a level. Once you get 15 levels, you are awarded with an awesome medal and then the stars and goals reset, leaving you to start all over and go for more levels and medals. Im pretty sure that there's at least 100 medals, meaning more than 1500 levels and maybe as many as 10000 goals for you to complete before you can fully beat the game. Beyond the number of levels, the game also offers a ton of stuff to buy and unlock such as dozens of hats and suits, random jetpacks and gadgets, and so much more. It literally took me about 40 hours of game play before I even had enough coins to buy every single item (which gives you the most valuable PS trophy for the game)
DIFFICULTY 3
The game is easier than the mobile version because of the bigger screen and button controls. The bigger size allows you to see and react more easily and it also allows the game to run smoother, because on the mobile version, the game will randomly skip a few frames once you get to faster levels. Button controls also make the game so much easier than rapping the screen to go up, and as long as you give the game some practice, you will be a pro going 2000+ meters per run in no time at all, this version of the game is fairly easy.
OVERALL: 9.2/10
Overall this is an amazing game. The mobile version is great, but this one is even better and definitely worth your time. Let's not forget the best part, this is a 100% free game. I think you can buy coins and powerups and whatnot, but you literally have no reason too, I bought every single item and played more than 2,000 runs without ever spending a single penny and you can do the same thing and have fun for dozens of hours. The point is, the game is a lot of fun to mess around with and you should give it a shot, my overall grade for Jetpack Joyride is going to be a 9.2 out of 10.
