I've made some updates to the search features of the various sections of the site which makes finding what you're looking for even better.


Better Market and Forum Search
Before, when searching for something in the Vizzed Market and on the Forums, the search would only return results based on the exact phrase that you were searching for. So for example, if you searched for '2016 Tour de Vizzed' in the forum, it would have only returned threads with 'Tour de Vizzed 2016' in the title (with the words in that order) which is none but now it'll search for threads with Tour, de, Vizzed and 2016 in the title and order the results based on relevance. The VGR and RGR have supported this type of search for a while now but the forum and market definitely needed it since it was hard to find what you were looking for with the search.

I should also point out that the forum search also now searches based on both the title and description.


Smarter Retro Game Room and Video Game Room Search
The Retro Game Room and Video Game Room now supports partial word search. So for example, if you had searched for 'Battle Toads' before (thinking that there was a space in the name), it wouldn't have had any Battletoads games in the results. Now searching for 'Battle Toads' returns the same results as if you had searched for 'Battletoads'. Or if you search for 'Battletoad' for example, missing the s at the end, Battletoads games will still come up since it's now allowing you to do partial word searches. To really put it to the test, even searching for 'toad bat' would bring up Battletoads games.

Another thing I did was I made it so that games aren't so easily excluded. What I mean is, when searching for a game, if you added a - to the search, the results would make sure not to show anything that appeared after the - in your search phrase. So for example, if you searched for 'Kingdom Hearts - Chain of Memories', what you were really telling the search was to find all games matching 'Kingdom Hearts' but don't show any games with 'Chain of Memories' in the title'. This has been modified to not do this and to only not include a search phrase if the - is directly connected to the word like 'Kingdom Hearts -Chain of Memories'. Google search functions this same way.

These same enhancements also applies to Market and Forum searches.

Staff : Letting you guys know of this since there most likely have been times when you were searching for a game in the RGR or VGR but it wasn't coming up, even if you knew for sure it did exist in the RGR or VGR.

The Retro Game Room search isn't finding any results for the search terms "Phantasy", "Phantasy Star", or "Star" in both the capitalized or lowercase versions when if you looked through the game list by name through the Ps has Phantasy Star games from page 53 -57.

The problem with those searches is that you can't use a means to cancel out results you clearly don't want like putting " around a desired search like turning Phantasy Star into "Phantasy Star" used to.

Right now, Phantasy Star gives about 53 pages of results with most of them having nothing to do with Phantasy Star whereas "Phantasy Star" used to only return results relating to Phantasy Star which resulted in about 4 pages of results.
