I want to know all the different places that you get your music from. Where do you buy them from? Do you download them from random places? Do you use YouTube music downloaders? Subscription services?

I don’t have the money to renew my Amazon account, so either tomorrow or the day after my account will expire. For the past year that’s been the only place I have been getting my music from and aside for the songs that are on it from CD’s, I’ll have close to 2000 songs just disappearing.

It’s been a really long time since the last time I had to do something else for music so any help would be awesome.

For the most part, I buy physical music CD/DVD albums from stores or from various online websites for the songs/music that I truly enjoy. Usually, even if I originally found an album online on YouTube, I will still go to obtain a physical copy of it at some point because I tend to enjoy the extra stuff/other content that's often included as part of the physical music albums (e.g. lyrics, posters, signatures, hidden content and secret tracks, etc.). =)

I work at a thrift store, so I constantly check the media section for good CDs and sometimes records. I've amassed hundreds of discs this way; lots of electronic, soundtrack, and occasional video game-related stuff, for the most part. As for new music, I either buy physical copies at a local record store or online for more specialty items. Digital-only music is mainly sourced from Bandcamp since a lot of it is name your price and in FLAC. I'm big into Vaporwave, so I buy cassettes on there, as well. For really specific releases, I buy from the Discogs marketplace.

I'm pretty big on my physical media. For albums by my favorite artists, I generally invest in a vinyl LP if it's available or get a CD if I'm more on the fence. I occasionally torrent high-bitrate or lossless files for previewing or if I can't find the songs anywhere else. If I like what I hear, I'll support the artist and pay for a legit copy.

When I was 12-16, I would get physical copies all the time at thrift stores, zia records, and FYE.

My mom and I would collect music all the time to where I accumulated hundreds of albums on various formats.

I stopped collecting music since because I hardly listening to them and I have way too many.

Nowadays, I just do digital music because my records, CD'S, tapes, and equipment are buried, it's much more convenient, and my disc player on my computer is the pickiest player of all time.

I have maybe 5 CDs, but around 50 vinyl records of my favorite albums. Frank Zappa, Kendrick Lamar, Miami Horror, Animal Collective, etc.

I pay for Spotify premium for when I'm on the go, and I browse Reddit or Spotify for new music.

I usually get my music from downloads in the descriptions of YouTube videos or their Patreon, as I listen to YouTube Video Game Cover Artists, such as FamilyJules, Jonathan Young, LittleVMills, ToxicxEternity, and jParecki95.

I don't buy music; I stream it. I either use Pandora or Spotify when I'm driving, and the same for when I'm at home and want to listen to some tunes. Sometimes, though, I'll pull up YouTube and do a " My Mix " so that I can listen to some new stuff, and some stuff that I used to listen to when all I really used at home for music was YouTube. 

I have always used Spotify. Since I was 15 I think. Still using it to this date and use it as much as I can. Music is a big part of my life. As soon as I enter out of the front door I put my earbuds in and open Spotify and play from my playlist. Music for me is my identity. Is who I'm. Music for me helps me when I'm feeling down or anything like that and it lift my mood up. Before I used to also download albums I liked, but stop doing it and rather use spotify to support the artist who make music

I always use Spotify when I'm home and connected to wifi, since I can use the explore and radio and all sorts of other things. I can also search for songs I think of out of the blue that I haven't heard in the longest time.

The YouTube converters have worked magic getting files to mo3, I use them all the time.

Barathemos : I like YouTube convertors, but with those I need to download to the computer, then move to Media player, and THEN move to my phone. Are there any convertors that can be downloaded right to a phone so you could download songs straight to your phone from YouTube?

When I got my first MP3 player on Christmas 2006, I would use a converter to get my music from Youtube, but much later (like 2008) from blogspots. I also used soulseek (a P2P service for music and chatting) to get real obscure stuff that was like nowhere to be found on the internet.
For 1 - 2 years I've been buying music. Whenever I'm listening to some album (or sample of an album) on youtube and I like it, I make sure to buy it later. Discogs is the place I go to for that. It's like ebay but for music.

A fun little program called youtube-dl

There is an extension package called youtube-dl-mp3 which just converts any video to mp3 at the highest quality it can get.

  I used to buy cd,s from the stores but these days whenever I want to listen to music I just listen to the songs on u tube but I never download them since i,m afraid that if i do there could also be a bug or virus that might get downloaded with it especially since my uncle once had that problem when he downloaded a song from u tube and even though I do have protection I still would not want to take that chance

Normally I just stream it from Spotify but I have bought a few vinyl records, not that they help because I didn't think to get a record player beforehand.

I use iTunes as my go to for music. Its really hard now to download music for free from "shady" sites. I did that alot a few years ago.

I download my music through various mp3 converting sites, if I do really enjoy a song I find on Youtube. I never really used iTunes or anything of the sort. I guess you can say Spotify, if that counts for anything, but actually downloading through that requires a premium account that I'm not interested in putting in the money for. I guess it's just simpler to go to a converting site to grab a quick mp3 for my phone.

Just like pacman, I get my songs using an mp3 converting site, with one quick copy and paste of the Youtube song URL, I am able to get an mp3 version of any song I want. It's quite simple and it eliminates the need for me to pay for my music through itunes or other services that require money.

Unfortunately, the converter I use no longer works, so I'll have to look into a different program if I want to continue getting access to my music this way.

Does iTunes (or any legal service for that matter) offer VGM? No? Well then gee, there isn't really any other good way to get my music fix without using a youtube converter. Unless it's Sonic music. Least that stuff is on iTunes.

I know this is fairly old at this point, but figured I'd add vidtomp3.com as a convenient YouTube converter. There's the obvious disclaimers that it's simply a converting tool, though, not for "free" music. But to answer your previous question, zander, it'll already be an mp3 file and you can easily move it onto your phone or just have your phone connected beforehand and download straight to it, I'd imagine.

I've actually just started my own Amazon Unlimited subscription this month, but it has an astounding lack of Sonic songs or Crush 40 music. I'm tempted to use the old converter technique but would rather stick to better (legal) methods. There's a lot of stuff here on vizzed, but anyone know where I can suggest an upload? We seem to be lacking a full version of All Hail Shadow here, among some others. 

But aside from downloading or from friends in the past, most of my music is actually ripped from CDs we have, or more recently bought as mp3 files from Amazon. I hope to find some new stuff to acquire with my Unlimited subscription, but if we're being honest I'll probably stick with just buying video games orchestrations and special editions that come with soundtracks lol
