So, this is my new style of doing pokemon review but this time, its not type, its the pokemon itself! And i add a little tips of how to make the best pokemon, so i hope you like this thread style and leave your thoughts down below, cheers!
Cloyster is one of my favorite pokemon. Its an oyster looking pokemon and it is a Water/Ice typed pokemon. Its weaknesses are electric, grass, fighting and rock, quite a bit actually, would say its not the best type combo. It evolved from a shellder with the help of waterstone. Its base stats are : HP : 50 (Max Potential : 304) Attack : 95 (Max Potential : 317) Defense : 180 (Max Potential : 504) #TANK Sp. Attack : 85 (Max Potential : 295) Sp. Defense : 45 (Max Potential : 207) Speed : 70 (Max Potential : 262) PS : Max Potential is included from proper EV training and perfect pokemon IV's And I'll review this pokemon based on the stats up there.. HP - 5/10 : even tho Cloyster has a high defense stats, its not the perfect tank cause its HP stats is in the low low, even with the high potential, it'll be a waste of EV to chase the max hp, so, i'm highly recommend you to NOT use cloyster as your tank. Attack - 7/10 : its attack stats is decent and could be amazing if you find a shellder with the perfect nature and iv, and, training it for attack EV is the perfect choice, I'll put all of the available point for attack cause its best moveset is all physical attacking moves (I'll talk about this later in this thread), and if you properly train em, boi oh boi it'll be a killer and a half. Defense - 9/10 : this is a good amount of defense stats, wait who am i kidding, this stats is HUGE and it'll be the perfect tank pokemon if the HP and Sp. Def stats is higher. Cloyster's going to be able to take a physical hits if you EV train em properly, its personal preference, but i wouldn't recommend to do that Sp. Attack - 6.8/10 : if you're building the 'perfect' cloyster, Sp. Attack is basically useless, but as far as the stats go, this pokemon can hit pretty hard with Sp. Attacking moves, but, most of it powerful moves are Physical Attacking moves, so yeah, useless indeed. Sp. Defense - 4/10 : this is the weakest point of cloyster, it has a big chance to get one banged by sp. Attacking moves. You can ev train em for this, but its not gonna give you any pvp advantage if i say so myself cause it's just its weakness, every pokemon have its own weakness and you can't do anything about that really. Speed - 6/10 : its speed is decent, not the best but it'll get the job done. Me personally, I'll EV train my cloyster for speed, find the max IV shellder with the boost Speed decrease Sp. Attack nature which is jolly nature. You might be asking, why speed? Welp, if you can strike first with a cloyster, boi oh boi you gonna be the trainer that rekt everybody, I'll explain all about 'The Best Cloyster' below. How To Reach The Best Potential of a Cloyster? Well, first of all, you'll want to get a male Omanyte (yes, omanyte) that known the move 'Rock Blast' and with the Adamant or Jolly nature (basically, adamant is a nature that boost the pokemon attack base stats and decrease the sp. attack, jolly boost speed and decrease sp. attack stats, which btw, sp attack is useless for a cloyster so that's that), and then, you wanna find a female Shellder with the Skill Link ability, and then you wanna breed them with the male one holding an everstone (it'll give a 50% chance for the nature to passed on the egg) and then pray for the nature to pass, the ability to pass, and then hoping that the speed IV, or the attack to be perfect or high enough (read about EV and IV in your favorite pokemon page). Me, if I didn't get the high enough speed iv, I'll re-breed them until i get the perfect one (sounds like pokemon slavery huh, but whatever). Now, once you got the perfect Shellder, you wanna make it learn Icicle Spears (Lv. 13) because it is a multiple attacking, so the Skill Link ability will make Icicle Spears always hit 5 times (maximum hit rate). And then you wanna make it learn Shell Smash (Lv. 56, i know, crazy...) What's shell smash you may ask? Well, its a non-attacking moves that decrease Defense and Sp. Defense stats by one stage, but increase the Sp. Attack, Attack, and Speed stats by 2 stages. Now i know, grinding a shellder until level 56 is not fun, but trust me, it'll be worth it lol. Now, Rock Blast, why do i want my shellder to have rock blast? Welp, its also a multiple attacking moves (you know the deal with Skill Link) and both Icicle Spears and Rock Blast are physical attacking moves so yeah, EV training for attack stats is useful in this part. And lastly, you can just evolve the Shellder once it has all those moves to Cloyster and learn a random move cause those three are the main killer deal. And, you want to make your Cloyster to hold Focus Sash, which is an item that makes your pokemon 'anti one banged' (it'll spare 1 hp for the pokemon if a one bang attack is taken, but only if the pokemon have the full hp.) Why do i need focus sash you may ask? Well, if you wanna be a big time pokemon pvp'er, you wanna always strikes first and not get one banged, now in the case of Cloyster, the first move that you wanna use is Shell smash, and then, you'll get attacked, or not, which is possibly a one bang damage, that's why you need focus sash, to make the pokemon survive a turn, once you use shell smash, you're very likely to always strikes first and one bang the opponent with Icicle Spears or Rock Blast, unless the defending pokemon i s 1/2 effective against the move, but it still likely you'll kill em cause it strikes 5 times and could crit in all those 5 attacks. There you have it, a face wrecking cloyster, hope you guys will make a perfect cloyster and start to do more competitive pokemon pvp. And that's all for my review and the 'how to make the perfect pokemon' thingy thread! Hope y'all like it! Cloyster is one of my favorite pokemon. I haven't seen a Pokemon review like this before, nice job. Perhaps next you could review Bulbasaur, the first Pokemon in the Pokedex? |
