It's already been discussed ad nauseam that we don't really have much say in who gets to run the country. Anyone's allowed to run, but few really have any chance without the backing of one of the two major parties. But if you could pick anyone from anywhere, who do you think is the most qualified and capable person to work for us in the Oval Office and why? Again, this is hypothetically ignoring all laws regarding requirements to run.

Me of course! :3

In all seriousness I really would make a great President as biased as it sounds I can think of two people I would pick, but neither is famous in the least, and both are people I know personally. My main pick however is...I'll just call him Mr. Stewart (names are not changed because he isn't innocent ).

If I have to pick someone who is already in the national spotlight, I'd say Ben Carson, hands down.

EDIT: Also when I say "next president", I mean after Trump, whether that's four or eight years. I personally am really looking forward to seeing what he does. I don't get the gloom and doom fuss about it all.

Honestly I felt like Bernie Sanders was a good pick. He's not perfect, there are some things I don't agree on with him. Notably the Palestine-Israel conflict but then again pretty much all US candidates are pro Israel so I guess that's to be expected (perhaps surprisingly neutral considering he has a jewish background though). I'm not sure if I would completely agree with him on immigration either. All of that said I like his overall message and I think he has the right priorities having stated that climate change is the number 1 most urgent issue, and wants to deal with income inequality more at its root. Two in my opinion understated issues in US politics. He is also critical of the democrat party in stead of  blindly siding with them and offers a viable alternative to obamacare, He's not one to constantly bend to the will of the party if he can help it unlike a lot of democrat candidates and would be less militaristic when it comes to foreign policy which I think is another big plus. It's better than what I could've hoped for in a lot of ways.

In addition he also has a lot of experience within politics. I know you said we could pick anyone, but I'd rather have someone who knows how the process works than someone who seems like they have good principles but probably don't have a clue how running a country works.

I`d have to stick with Bernie. I`m on the same side with a lot of his views, and I`m keeping my fingers crossed that he considers running again next term #FeelTheBern #Bernie2020

For me Ron Paul. I voted for Ron Paul in the 2012 race. I like Ron Paul. Ron Paul believes in the bill of rights and the Constitution. He is pro gun. But he also wants us to stop giving foreign aid and getting involved in other countries affairs. I agree with him. We should not be arming Syrian Rebels, Yemen Rebels and we have made a mess out of things. Look at America's foreign policy the past 65 years. We have overthrown governments, installed dictators, invaded countries making them unstable, we have armed rebel groups only for them to turn into terrorist groups.

He also is against the government spying on citizens via the Patriot Act which I really like. He also voted against the Stop Online Piracy Act which would have made sites like this illegal. He also voted against an extension of the AFA that had wording in it that could have lead to us getting microchipped to store medical records.

So yeah I think Ron Paul would have made a great President. He seems to really care about protecting our rights and freedoms. He also can see the big picture and not wanting the us to get involved in other countries wars. I can't really say the same thing about other candidates.

I would still go for Jill Stein. I'm more inclined towards principles and integrity regardless of political experience these days.

Fred Rodgers.
Honestly one of the best people in the history of the world.
If he was still alive, and president of the only superpower in the world, everything would just be really good.
He's the pinnacle of everything good in the world.

I do not know who I would really want as President. I know I would not want it. I have a hair trigger temper and I know I would consider doing terrible things. We need a modern day version of Franklin D. Roosevelt. This was a man that helped pull us from the Depression, led us during WW2,and basically did what it took to make government work for the people.

Don't live in USA, but if i had to chose I would go with Bernie Sanders. He is the only one that could do something good in my eyes. Since he was the honest of them all and got the best points.
