Have you ever felt bad about taking money that someone accidentally left laying around? What's the most you've ever found? Finding some pocket change on the side of the road is one thing, but when I find singles or a five lying on the table at a Laundromat, I wait a little while to see if someone comes back for it, and feel a little bad about taking it if they don't. The most money I've ever found was a $10 bill on the side of the highway while I was riding my bike.

m0ssb3rg935 : if the money is loose and I see who drops it I give it back to them otherwise I just keep it since I don,t know who dropped it,the most I found was $20.00 when I was shopping in a store one day, but there also was a time when I was in a store and found a women,s wallet which I took to the customer service desk since that is one thing I would never keep is someone else.s personnel belongings whenever I find something like that I always turn it in

If I don't see who dropped it, I pocket it without any worry or anything. Their loss, my gain. Their problem, my reward.

It's futile to look for the owner since anyone would claim it was theirs, even if it wasn't theirs. People lie.

no 8120 : Yeah, I've returned a wallet at least once. There was a guy from Somalia that lived next to us that dropped his outside our apartment and I picked it up. Later he asked me if I picked up a wallet and I handed it to him. I never even looked inside. It felt like it would've been an invasion of privacy if I had. I also try by best to return people's change when they leave it at self checkout in stores.

If there's no way for me to identify the owner not really. I mean if you ask someone if they're missing a wallet a lot of people would probably be prone to lying about it. On the other hand if I either saw who dropped money, or it was a wallet with something leading me to the owner inside then yeah I'd feel bad about keeping it and would try to return it in stead.

I think the most money I've ever found is 20 SEK bill (equivalent of a bit more than 2 dollars). So not a ton.

I've never actually found lost money so I'm just going to state what I would do.

If it was loose money, I'd take it no regrets. It would be difficult to find out who dropped it unless the person dropped it right in front of me(in which case I would give it to them). Now if it were a wallet, I know I won't take it for myself. I'd either take it a lost or found of sorts or open it to see who the wallet belongs to.

I would, because I wouldn't want to profit off of someone else's misfortune.  If I couldn't find who possibly owned it, I'd probably give it to charity or something, promptly.

Same as Livingston. If I see them drop it or if it in a wallet, then I return it. But if it is just loose bills, they are mine.

Not really unless it's a lot of money. Now, I've never found a ton of money just randomly lying around but one time me and one of my close friends were walking home from school and my friend found like 20 dollars in the crack of the sidewalk. My friend kept the money, but that was amazing X3. If it was a wallet or something then I'd pick it up and turn it in somewhere, because losing a wallet is something a lot worse than losing a random 20 dollar bill. Besides, identity theft could happen and no one wants that.

I pick up coins I find n the sidewalk/floor and save them all the time. I think there's nothing wrong with that, every cent counts in my opinion. I've never had an experience where I have found 5 dollars or more on the ground, so I can't present my answer that well. In my eyes, as long as it's not a huge amount of money, it's alright to take it. I'd probably try to find the owner of the 5 dollar bill first, but if I can't find them, then I'll take it. I hope this doesn't make me sound selfish. :x

Coincidentally, I just recently heard about this type of topic in school. Well, in my humble opinion, I'd rather leave the money alone, regardless of how much money there is. Besides, technically taking money from the ground and getting money you don't own, would be in the subject of stealing, and I guess don't want to steal anything (yeah I'm too nice ). Well, if it's a wallet, I'd rather just give it to the owner, or report it to any staff nearby in a store.
Well, I did do it previously when I was younger, but I stopped doing after realising that it was practically stealing/

For me, picking up money depends on the situation. If I see someone drop their money or their wallet, I'd just pick it up and give it back to them. If it was just on the ground or in a book (which is how I found $10 in elementary school one time), then I would take it with no guilt. It's really the person's fault for having to lose it and not being responsible to take care of it.

My grandma raised me to be honest, so whenever I see money laying around, I usually turn it in somewhere, even if it is pocket change (though, if it's just a penny or two, I sometimes just ignore them ).
I remember when I was a kid, and my family was at the bank, this woman had just left the ATM, and all of a sudden, money started flying out of it! Literally hundreds of dollars just flying out of the slot! So, being the honest little boy I was (and still am), my family and I quickly gathered it all up and took it inside.
So yeah, I've always been taught that, if it isn't yours, you turn it in or find the person who dropped it.

The largest bill I have picked up in my life was worth $10, and it was at the very back of a parking lot. No, I did not feel bad.

However, if I ever find a wallet, I will do everything I can to find its rightful owner because
that definitely belongs to someone.
