This past Tuesday, the police arrested the parents of a 7 year old boy which was found dead in the family's flat in Gerona, Spain. If that still doesn't sound strange, wait to learn the details. As news keep coming about this incident, it seems that the boy remained dead for at least a month inside the house, and the whole family (the parents and their two siblings, both older than the boy) was secluded in a room with the corpse lying in a bed. The inspection of the flat has shown that seemingly someone has slept alongside the corpse during that time. The family is from American origin, their last residence being Missouri. They seemingly lost contact with all the other family members way before coming to Spain two years ago. Also, the father seems to not care about the status of his son, answering with evasive words to the policeman's statement of the boy's death. It also seems that the father exerted a big authority within the family, as the boy's brothers asked the policemen if their father allowed them to eat when they were presented some food. This is mostly all we have right now. The corpse shows no signs of violence, so it's clear the boy hasn't been killed. However, the current theory is that the boy fell ill and the family didn't give him the necessary medical attention, further proved by the many homeopathic medicines found in the flat, which would essentially make the parents responsible for the boy's death. I really don't know what to say about this. It seems like the father didn't want to accept his son's death and went paranoid. Hopefully we will know why the boy died in the following days and shed some light to this mystery. I would provide a link, but since I've read it in the local newspapers, all information I can find isn't in English. I will edit this post with a link, should it be needed, and I will also add any further information I receive from this mystery. Ok let me try this again. This is really sad news but. Families like this is the reason I don't watch the news of the sort. I'm not so sure how or what more to say about this. Because in a way its a complete mystery. And mystery cases like this tends to not always go your way. I do feel sorry for the parents to lose someone this young...is too much to bear. And especially when the parents are meant to die before the children. |

Eniitan : Eni, are you sure you read the full post? The boy has been dead for at least a month now, and the family kept him inside the flat, even secluding themselves in a single room with the corpse in one of the beds, which was apparently shared with one of the family members. Seemingly, the family "disappeared" more than one month ago. Only the father went outside from time to time, but kept contact with nobody, not even the US consulate, and ignoring and avoiding any personal acquaintances he met in the street. This further proves my suspicions of him getting paranoid after the boy's death. Seemingly, the family "disappeared" more than one month ago. No need to worry. L is already working on the case. Not even Kira would have done something this strange. I fear there is a far more sinister story behind these events. |

Oh dear, not another family that neglects their children in the name of pseudoscience. Why are people so quickly going towards things that have little (if any) scientific basis? Anti-vaccine people have let virtually "dead" diseases come back with a vengeance. Now parents using homeopathic "medicine" to cure their children... |

janus : Unfortunately, it's something that's bound to happen. Regardless of whose responsibility it ultimately was in which the boy died, it's still an incredibly sad bit of news. Although, the other news of how long the boy had been dead is, erm, disturbing. I'm with EX, methinks it's a paranoia case after the death. SWTerra : is this paranoia an actual medical diagnosis? I know people can be under shock / post-traumatic stress after a major dramatic event, but leave a corpse? After a while it start to rot and stink... |

janus : The reason why the corpse was discovered was precisely by the smell. The flat had two floors, and the family was secluded on the upper one, but even from the lower one the smell was toxic, due to the advanced stages of rotting. Why did he keep the corpse? He refused to accept his son's death, simple as that. He became paranoid over the fact the boy was just I don't want to bring the topic of religion here, but he was a devoted follower of a Christian branch. Maybe his paranoia mixed with his religious beliefs, like making him believe he would come back from the dead. It's just another hypothesis, but right now we cannot ditch out any possibility. If religion did play a role, would they not have wanted to give him a proper burial? In one of the resurrection stories of the Bible a man laid down in a cave for a while before Jesus raised him. That is quite sad Death is the only sure thing in this world; we should learn to accept it. Or at least embalm the corpses. When I first started reading this, I was horrified thinking that the dad killed him but then even though its a bad situation, I kind of felt a bit better knowing that it wasn't anything like that, but its still very strange whats been going on with them, like there's so many questions . This is definitely something that I want to keep up with to find out what the situation was. |

More news keep coming, and finally they are "good" in a sense. The little boy suffered from asthma, and seemingly he had a crisis which he wasn't able to overcome. The parents weren't able to process this sudden event, and probably due to their religious belief, they stood alongside the corpse in the hopes it would wake up again, which of course didn't happen. The parents aren't under arrest anymore, as the chances of them not giving the boy the necessary treatment are now slim. It has been demonstrated they had a lot of medicines to help the boy's asthma, so they knew what they were fighting against. Still, they're not able to leave the country until it's finally demonstrated that an excess of medicines didn't take part in the boy's death. Due to the advanced rotting stages of the corpse, it's said the boy could have died anywhere between one and three months ago. Of course, keeping it in the house poses a risk to the family's health, but seemingly they are alright. The father is being examined psychologically, since he has demonstrated being clearly unstable after this event, as well as the mother and their other siblings, due to the trauma of losing someone close to them in these circumstances. It's a relief to hear such news. At least we know it's highly improbable the parents aided the boy's death, even if it was unwillingly. The mystery will soon be over, and with no horrid explanation behind. The little boy suffered from asthma, and seemingly he had a crisis which he wasn't able to overcome. Wow, that is quite the relief, indeed. Very upsetting, nonetheless, but at least it seems that it was mostly natural causes that resulted in this boy's death. I hope the father comes out alright, though. |

Yeah, reading this at first was just really creepy. I mean after I would say the third day they should have had a clear understanding that the boy was not waking up any time soon. I can see how they could not let go and were in denial and well the father being the only authority if he lost a few bolts then, clearly explains why no one else dare to say a word. I wonder if the other siblings went to school? And if so, why not reach out to a teacher or friend about it? Maybe they were really affected by the event and hopefully not that they feared their father's mental state. I can see why hold on for a few days but, for as long as they did and with that smell and the rotting condition of the corpse is just bizarre to live like that let alone |

jlove92 : The other siblings didn't go to school, the leaked information says they were studying online, so they had no one to run into (nor like they could actually run into somebody if their father told them not to go outside, not even to play basketball between themselves like they usually did). And yes, after a while, they feared calling the police would make them direct suspects of murder, so they refused to do so, which resulted in an absolutely gross situation. We haven't had more news after that, which is good in a sense. It gives me the vibe that the case will end like this, with the boy killed by natural causes and the family free to continue their lives, but we're still pending the official confirmation.
