This will not be a very in-depth analysis, but I want to throw something on here that might spring a good discussion.
So for a few years I have been trying to teach myself Japanese. I practice writing the characters, read short stories, watch anime and non-anime Japanese shows. I even try to sing along to my favorite Japanese songs, and Anime theme songs. By the way Anime themes are a great way to learn a few Japanese words. Almost every Naruto opening theme shares certain words with other ones, like Kaze for wind, or "kokoro' for heart. Anime songs use a lot of metaphoric and poetic lyrics. You might be asking what does any of this ramble have to do with Star Wars VII? This is what:
SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT! SPOILER ALERT!
The desert planet, Rey's home world, is named Jakku. At first this seems like a completely made up word. But even if it was inadvertent, this name can be connected to a language from our world. That would be Japanese. It is actually similar to two Japanese words that almost have the same spelling, but mean different things.
The first is Jaku which means weakness, infirmity, or deficiency
The second is Jaaku (The "Ah" is held a little longer) which means evil, wicked, corrupt, or abandoned
These words could just be describing the planet. It is a desolate waste land full of corrupt merchants. But it could also mean something deeper. Firstly, Rey was kind of "abandoned" on the planet Jakku. It is also the planet where the First Order attacks at the beginning of the movie. And the place where Po and Finn get separated and basically "abandoned". But what's even more interesting is that it could be a hint for the future of the story. Here is my theory based on the name of this planet.
I think that Rey will have a struggle with the light side and dark side. Snoke might try to seduce her the same way he seduced Kylo Ren. Or Kylo Ren might try to convince her to join him. You are probably asking "Why would she even consider it? She is a good gal and is the main protagonist." But that very nature could be used against her. What happened to Finn at the end of the movie? He got severely injured and was not even conscious for the rest of the film. So what if they kind of took the prequel route and used Rey's love for Fin to tempt her to the dark side? "If you join the Dark Side you can save Fin." But instead of her actually turning, Fin actually wakes up, and goes to rescue her. He has a duel with Kylo Ren, all the while Fin is trying to bring Rey back to the light side, but she is still struggling. But I think the light side will prevail this time instead of what happened in the prequels.
Since I came up with all this just based on the name of a planet, it may be completely wrong, but it's just a theory... A
