I know the new season of the walking Dead is among us and in a way I'm kind of excited about it. Over the last year I started watching a bunch of new shows, so I'm starting to push older ones like this aside but I'm still going to try to keep up with it.

I'm not sure when the premiere is, however I'm actually going to b at the fan premiere Friday night when I'm at Comic Con and go to a panel on the premiere, so I'm excited to go to that.

Are you going to watch the premiere when it first comes out and how excited are you for the new season?

geeogree : You're the only one I remember who likes the series.

Very much hell yes, I am going to be watching this. I've seen them all so far, and it has gotten so amazing, in comparison with the earlier seasons. I love how at this point, everyone is a hardened survivor. Some of my favorite scenes are when the group is walking cautiously, guns drawn, then they spot some Walkers, they put their guns away, walk casually up to the Walkers, then kill them with melee weapons. Everyone's a badass now.

Also, the season premier is this Sunday. In the same time slot as Fear The Walking Dead. All of my friends are going to wait for it to be available on Netflix, since they don't have cable. So I'm going to see the new episodes before them.

Yeah, I'll be watching it and probably doing the same episode reviews like I've been doing for fear the walking dead. I've been watching Walking Dead since it came out and I've enjoyed it so much!

geeogree : I actually just noticed those reviews for the first time today and they were really good, but I would have never thought of really going back to that thread unless something big happened, like the finale or I was summonses, so maybe you should do each review as its own thread so people would see them as they happen?

That's where a review forum would come in handy.

zanderlex : I don't really want to post a new thread for each episode though.... that would get annoying to me. I wouldn't want to see that many threads. Now for a show like Fear the Walking Dead which only had 6 episodes (I think) it wouldn't be terrible but anyone else reviewing another show that had 22 or 24 episode seasons would become annoying really quickly.

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to how things resolve considering how season 5 ended. Rick seems to be close to crossing a line he can't come back from. I agree with his groups perspective that the people living in the gated community aren't tough enough to deal with the realities of the outside world but I think Rick and his group are too far the other way.

geeogree : By any chance, did you see the Walking Dead season 6 panel from Comic Con? I have been watching it on Twitch for a while as I was typing this, probably an hour in already. Pretty cool info. Should have it saved.

Walking Dead S6E1

Oh good, a recap.

What the heck is going on??? My only guess is that they are trying to get to whatever is in that truck. That is an insane number of walkers. And that was disgusting.... the walker squeezing through the trucks. Well done on that one.

Wow, that was a confusing intro. I fully expect it was supposed to be but I feel more lost than I did before the episode started

This looks like a flashback to the night Rick shot the abusive husband. This flashback got emotional fast. I can't even comment fast enough to catch everything that is going on because I can't remember everyone's names fast enough to type about them all The only real character I'm super interested in right now is Morgan. How has he survived this whole time and why did he show up just now? Seems strange to me. Hopefully he'll be more back-up for Rick's group though.

Oh, this looks "current". They are routing walkers somewhere....

And back to flashbacks. Rick and Daryl debating about whether to keep searching for people....

Sasha and Abraham are headed somewhere in the present now.... this back and forth in time thing is getting a bit confusing. Makes it hard to really talk about anything that is going on for any amount of time.

Rick and Morgan face to face again talking about how he learned to fight. Sounds like Morgan is locked up.... like they don't trust him yet. Eugene watching the gate being all serious about things Heath is a new character along with whoever is in the car. Curious about them and how their coming back is going to affect things. They are going to be in for a shock when they get caught up on everything that has happened while they were gone. Haha! The hair comment was awesome.

Rick and Morgan's conversation was interesting and the grave digging conversation was pretty harsh. Looks like the teenage son is pretty pissed about that too. He's probably planning something for Rick if he can manage it.

Back to the present! I like the little exchanges between characters. Michonne and Morgan have some history that I would have forgotten about if it weren't for that. Entertaining.

I like Morgan already. He's a good influence on Rick. Making him do the right thing even when Rick doesn't seem to want to. Walkers nearby! Holy crap! Thousands of walkers. And that stupid kid is going to get himself killed being out there.

Back to the present again! I'm still trying to figure out what the end game of this is. I'm hoping they are trying to round them up in order to kill them in some way but without a clear idea of things it is hard to think of how they are going ot manage it.

The past again! Does make sense what Rick said. If even a 10th of these walkers had ended up at the walls of the town it wouldn't exist. The kid just got told! Which is fair. The kid doesn't know what he's doing out there. Go bury his father! Good.

Present! Glenn is so awesome! He started as such a wuss and now he's as bad-ass as anyone. Uh oh!

Past! Coming up with a plan to deal with the problem. Took me a bit to figure out who the guy was that was moaning about the plan and his name is Carter. Not sure what his problem is but he seems to want to crap on the plan at every chance.

Present! Making the turn at the intersection now. That wall doesn't look as strong as it should. That was gross.... seriously. Walkers smashing their faces on the wall.... looks like it is working though.

Back to the past and building up the wall. I agree with Daryl's assessment of finding people being a way to take care of themselves. Quick flash to the present - looks like Glenn wants to smash the window.... back to the past. Talking about how Noah got killed and how it was that guys fault and how they could exile him for it. That would be rough knowing that and then choosing to forgive.

Present - that is more than a dozen! That guy jumped in to help! Glad to see it. He's toughening up.

Back to the past - Morgan and Carol's conversation was interesting. He sees through her even though most others don't.

Present - Abraham just made a really bad decision although it seems like he did okay. Sometimes crap like that has to be done.... even if it is stupid. Keep the group on the road.

Past (this is getting crazy going back and forth) - Whoa, that was a bit intense. The townies didn't step up. Carter is planning to kill Rick. And here comes Rick! Rick isn't going to do it. I knew he wouldn't. He's got Carter by the balls now knowing what he knows. Carter had his chance to put something like this together and failed. The only thing I could see would be him screwing over Rick in a moment of need when Rick is vulnerable. And knowing this show there will likely be several chances of that happening. Or, he'll get attacked and die like a moron! (in the present )

Past - Morgan and Rick seem to have reconciled. Morgan gets to hold the baby. I really think Morgan is going to be the saving grace for Rick. He's going to be the reason Rick doesn't do anything that will go over the edge.

Present - Carter still having his faced chewed on! Rick came over and finished him off. And Morgan saw it as well as Michonne. Looks like neither of them were overly happy about it though.

Past - Jessie and Rick having their first interaction since he killed her husband. I was actually kind of hopeful they would get together but it looks like they won't.

So many back and forth flashes to keep up with that I just left them alone. Just enjoying the last few minutes of the episode. What the hell is that? Well the plan just got hooped. So much for leading them away.... I really hope they show why it is happening. And they don't...

That was a great first episode! A lot of flashes from the past to the present that needed to be done in that way to keep things flowing well but it did make it hard to review easily. Still, I'm excited about next week to see what happens. I wonder if the town is going to survive this or not. I don't know how you fight off that many walkers no matter how well prepared you are....

zanderlex : sorry, I figured since it was Wednesday that anyone who wanted to watch had already had the chance to do so. Still, there aren't any big reveals or anything game changing that happened this episode that you would ruin by reading what I posted. The ending is the only thing that was really a surprise because it came out of nowhere and wasn't explained at the time. It should be the first thing explained next episode (I hope) but you never know with all the time jumping this episode had

Aa soon as I read that I thought the world was ending. Well, more than it already has.

zanderlex : there are more walkers in this one episode than there have been for entire seasons by the looks of it. It wasn't a big reveal so much as the episode didn't start where last season ended so I was very confused by the beginning.

I'm pumped. I liked it. I was thrown off a bit too by all the back and forth but I watched it twice anyways so it made more sense the second time through. Glad there are other fans here. I'm a day 1 watcher too.

Ferdinand : yay, another fan!

Yeah, my wife won't watch with me. She hates horror movies and zombies and things like that. She gets too scared by them. That's fine by me but it means I have to talk to people online in order to have someone to talk to about the show. I'm not going to go out in order to watch the show with someone

I considered watching it twice because I was typing a LOT while watching this episode but I barely had time to watch it in the first place let alone watch it again.

zanderlex : I almost always watch a recorded episode of shows because I hate being forced to be ready to watch when the show actually airs. Plus it also means I can skip commercials at the same time.

I honestly can barely stand to watch live TV anymore because I'm so used to skipping things now. I'll even start watching a sports game late so that I can start it when I want to and skip all the stuff in between. I stay off of the internet while I'm watching so I don't get spoiled results or anything. I do the same for any shows that I watch. It's not always feasible to do but I try to do it that way as best I can.

geeogree : Huh. Zombies are scary? I guess. Not like ghosts though. Angry spirits give me nightmares. Zombies never even scared me as a kid. I'm pretty sure the first zed-word movie I ever saw was the original Dawn. Followed shortly after by NOTLD and Day. Return is too cool too. The first one anyways. But I really didn't like the way they were going with the fast zombies in remakes. I'm glad to have an outlet for the dim-witted dead again.

geeogree : I could never do that for a sporting event, I would end up just skipping right to the current time and just watch it from there. There's only 2 shows I like enough to record myself because the rest of the people here use all the space so I can't use much.

Whoa. Whoever this girl is she has had it rough so far. Watching her parents get eaten and then having to go out and survive on her own. I'm guessing JSS are initials. Not sure what the point of the initials are yet though. Turtle food! That is nasty. I can't imagine being hungry enough to eat any animal raw. Yeah, she's starting to freak me out now. She found the town now.... I wonder how long ago this is or if it is present time. Interesting that she doesn't immediately go to the town. And what is with the initials?!?!?!?!?!?

Whoa. Carol has got a nasty streak in her again. She always did but the smoking comment was so blatantly mean it was a bit shocking. And the way she talked to the kid was a surprise too. I don't blame her for it exactly because you can't ignore reality forever but it can't be easy to hear someone say it either.

I feel sorry for Jessie. Having to deal with a teenager right after having your husband get killed (no matter how good or bad he was it is still a loss). Tough situation but I think the mom is right.

Maggie and Deanna preparing to plant crops. That is the only way to actually make things sustainable. You can't survive on canned goods and things like that. You have to actually start growing things yourself. Makes sense.

I agree with Eugene about the church thing. While it may be important for people to get together for something like church it is also just as important to use the building space for other things. You can meet together in church settings just about anywhere. Any house would do for that sort of thing....

Carl and Gabriel having a conversation about weapons. Interesting. Also, the girl hugging Jessie's son it looked liked.

I watch Carol and always feel like she is wasting time. Holy crap! What is going on? Seriously.... what the hell? That latch won't hold forever. This is another group coming to take over the town. Looks like it is happening at the same time that Rick and that group is out of town. This episode just went from normal to heavy in a few seconds.

Okay, so this is related to the group with the W's on their faces. But these are normal people and not zombies with the W's. And Carol just killed that woman.... not sure what that is about. There is the horn! That makes sense. Looks like the wall is still up though. Still, that horn was clearly summoning all the zombies from the last episode. Not that that is good for much since the zombies are all on their way now.

Interesting.... Morgan versus the axe guy. Awe, Carol ended it before they could actually fight. Still, she is using a smart strategy. Something doesn't seem right about Deanna.

Blast him Carl! Mistake! Almost cost you! And Ron thinks that somehow he is safer outside instead of with Carl? Idiots. And now Ron is going to die because he went home and is going to get attacked by the guy already in the house. Whoa! Nicely done Jessie. With scissors of all things.

Morgan saves Gabriel and Carol got to the weapons. Glad someone is guarding the rest of the guns even if she is kind of useless. I still agree with Carol over Morgan. The town needs to be protected and you can't protect it by capturing everyone. They came and started killing people and you need to do what you need to do in order to stop it. A moderate response to an extreme attack isn't good enough.

Morgan knows them.... what is going on? At least it is starting to make a bit of sense as to why he wasn't killing them but it still doesn't explain how he knows them or what the point of that attack was. They killed a lot of people for no reason that I could see. Haha, Carol is going to start smoking.

I still want to understand why. Looks like they caught one of the recruitment groups. That explains how they found the town and what to expect. Still, no why.

Also, they don't realize that there is a swarm headed their way soon. Haha, that all took 15 minutes .

Morgan fighting someone.... who recognizes him. I couldn't quite tell what he said. You can't can you? You should have. Maybe he was talking about killing. Morgan doesn't want to kill anyone, maybe he can't anymore. And the guy knows it.

No mention of the swarm in this episode. That must be coming next episode. Well, I wasn't expecting THAT but it was an awesome episode nonetheless. And next episode should also be awesome because the swarm is headed towards the town. I wonder if they can beat the swarm back to the town to mount some sort of defence or escape. Looking forward to next episode already!

JSS= just survive somehow I think. The note she left. I was on the edge of my seat after the first attack floored me. That episode was great. No more farm house huh? Can't wait for next week already.

Ferdinand : oh, that makes sense. That's why I put it out there because a lot of the time I don't see everything or figure it all out right away.

Yeah, hard to imagine that the town is going to survive long term.
