So, the first episode of this show is tonight and I'm REALLY excited. If it is anything like the Walking Dead then it is going to be really enjoyable. I've always loved the zombie horror genre because of all the psychological stuff you can do with it but the monster portion never goes away the whole time. Really interesting.

So yeah, I'm going to watch this tonight after my kids are in bed and then I'll post my first impressions of it here. Hopefully there are other people who watch it and get into it so we can talk about it here.

What is the main channel that it is airing? Meaning like TNT Cartoon Network.. SYFY ... which I know it's not on those. I would love to watch it but I'm not sure what channel it might be on.

EDIT: Oh okay I figured out it was AMC... yeah I am going to watch this! I will let you know what I think of it after the show!

Bintsy : awesome! Yeah, I didn't really even think about it since the Walking Dead is also on AMC and I assumed this show would be too.

I also like the timing of the show. Unlike Walking Dead which jumps between before and after the zombie apocalypse this show is going to focus on the start and what people do and and what happens in the first few weeks-months.

I think that is by far one of the more interesting time frames that are so rarely explored in the genre.


So yeah, my excited ramblings

Well thanks for letting me know about this. I didn't even know it was coming on and never even heard about the show. My sister (not the one who steals my things) My other sister who is 18 is going to watch it with me! We are both excited. What's cool is they are showing the show 3 times... so it gives people more of a window to make sure they are able to watch it.

Oh and that's great! I can't wait to see it . That's something I have been wanting and looking for in general which was zombie series that have a time frame like that.

I only saw a few episodes ever of the walking dead but I liked it and since I can kind of follow this from the beginning I might as well check it out.

zanderlex : yeah that is what it is supposed to do. However it is going to be a west coast perspective rather than east coast. This part will take place in California and Walking Dead happened around Atlanta.

Still, it should chronicle the early days of the infection rather than jumping to after it was full blown.

I'm hoping to catch this show as well. It would interesting to see what happens on the West Coast when all this happened. Now, I'm not certain about this, but is this also based on the comics, or is this an original take made by the creators of the show? From what I have looked into, the comics only focused on Rick and the group on the East Coast.

play4fun : I don't think this has anything to do with the comics. I think this is a pure spin-off that was thought up after the success of the comic and show. Not that I mind as long as the same people doing Walking Dead are directly involved in this. I hate when spin-offs are handed to someone outside the group that did the original. It never works that way.

Omg I loved it! I can't wait until the next episode! Man the part where the guy's bone was sticking out towards the end was so graphic XD ... me and my sister were pratically screaming it was so freaky haha. What did you think about it geeo?

Bintsy : sorry I just had a chance to finish watching it just now. My Mom came by to see my kids and hung out a lot longer than I expected.


So far so good. I like the family that was introduced at the beginning. Seems like a real situation they could be in. Not annoying or over the top though. Pretty happy with that.

I also liked the confusion of the start of things. I always hate when people see something like that and can't say zombie. I understand how ridiculous it would sound but sometimes you have to look at what you see and call it what it is.

Still, I'm happy with the start so far. I'm definitely interested to see where they take things. I wonder how long they'll try to keep the family in the city or whether they'll try and run as soon as possible. Not sure where you would want to go from L.A. if this started happening.

That's fine xD I liked the family too but me and my sister didn't really like the mom ... she reminded us so much of Lori from The Walking Dead. Not sure if you noticed that. Well the preview of the 2nd episode they showed after the show was showing that they had asked somebody if they could stay and hold up in their place for a while(which I assume was in L.A). I'm really excited to see what happens!

Bintsy : fair enough. It's been so long since I've seen Lori that I don't remember her too well. If we find out she's secretly been cheating on her husband (the Mom that is) then I'll give you that. Otherwise I don't see it yet....

I didn't watch the preview for the next episode. I want to see everything fresh for each episode. I find the previews are like trailers for movies.... what they show and what actually happens rarely actually match up in the end.

It's honestly just the way she acts.. it's almost exactly like Lori's character was. Excluding the cheating part unless they end up throwing that into the series xD 

Yeah that's true now that I think about it but when I watch them it just makes me that more excited for the next episode.

Bintsy : yeah.... I'll watch the next episode almost no matter what. Once I find a genre or show that I enjoy I will watch/read just about anything they put out. People complain about filler in anime's but I'll watch it anyway

I guess the situations they are in make me not see the comparison between Lori and this Mom (I wish I knew her name so I could stop calling her "Mom"). I did begin to hate Lori though.... I don't want to hate this Mom too.

Oh yeah .. maybe we will figure out what her name is in the 2nd episode. I didn't really hate Lori until later on in the series. Though I still haven't finished watching the episodes of The Walking Dead that have aired because when I missed one episode it ruined it for me xD I do plan to watch all of it in the future though. Hopefully the mom will be a good character... and people won't hate her like Lori. I guess we will see in the weeks leading up to season six premire of the Walking Dead xP

I've seen every Walking Dead episode, and this first episode of Fear the Walking Dead, and I was a little disappointed. I kind of wanted them to focus on the epidemic, and not so much on a specific family. In all honesty, I couldn't care less about all that drama they cooked up, none of that should matter when zombies start popping up, but, being a T.V. show, they'll find a way.

   I am pretty sure the episodes are going to get better though, so I'll keep watching.

   Oh, and I still have NO idea why they didn't call the cops on that Church... Like, you see that much... Oh, this could be spoilers. Still, they went to that place, multiple times, and each time, someone should've called the police.

Fear the walking dead Ep 2

I like the first shot of the daughter (I'll figure out names eventually) walking and looking back over her shoulder. Not quite foreshadowing but at the same time it is basically what she'll have to be doing in order to survive.

Also, open door to a house in the horror genre definitely means walk right in and investigate! No change anything bad could happen to you.

I don't remember the fever thing from Walking Dead but it sounds familiar. Wonder if it will be significant or not. Yup, he was bitten. Not much backstory to set up on how the infection happens. Although it seems like they are making it out to be a combination of an illness and bites.

Also, the set-up of most people having no idea and only a few people figuring it out in time to get away seems plausible. I imagine most people being oblivious or not wanting to disrupt their lives because of what is going on. Obviously before they realize how serious things are.

Cops stashing water.... classy move.

Didn't think about this earlier but splitting up was a GREAT idea people. Everyone going in different directions leaves no chance of this having a negative result. I can't see anyone dying or getting left behind or anything.

Love the camera angle during the theft. Doesn't leave any chance of getting snuck up on. Oh good, a false jump scare.

Also, playing up the cops are bad angle about 3 times now this episode. Hopefully that doesn't get over done either.

Drug addict guy is bound for a big turn around at some point. I love how the daughter is cleaning the floor and how it is totally pointless but she doesn't know it yet.

Also, the alarm in the school was well done. And the voice through the intercom. All very well set-up. Something else to remember is that right now all the zombies are "fresh" so they are probably stronger and faster than anything in Walking Dead. Also, probably tougher to kill because bones aren't as brittle. Hadn't considered that until the attack in the school. Not to mention the fact that no one really knows what kills them properly yet.

I love how Tobias knows everything. It's like he's seen Walking Dead and knows what's going to happen . Still, he is right based on where the series will end up going. Nothing will be the same and it is clear that they are establishing that early on. Still, splitting up was a terrible idea. Not sure why they decided that was a good idea.

Overall the episode was good. This seems pretty realistic as to how things would play out in a place like L.A. It could easily begin as someone getting shot and police brutality being blamed and then rioting and what not happening.

The whole incident with the drug addict brother made me also think about people with diabetes and other diseases like that not being able to get enough meds to survive for long.

The ending with the mom not helping the neighbours was rough. I don't know what I would do in that situation.

Oh, I found a list of names so that we know who people are. I'm going to post it here and in to the first post I made so anyone who comes in late knows who some people are.

That should cover the main characters. We've also met Matt who is Alicia's boyfriend, Tobias the kid from the school who knows too much and that's about it I think of people who are still alive that we've met and know anything about. Now we can talk about characters without saying the mom or the dad or whatever.

Me and my sister are really loving Fear The Walking Dead. Episode 2 was pretty great. I was sort of upset though because after the show it said Fear The Walking Dead wasn't returning for another 2 weeks. I'm not sure what the reason for that is but yeah. I also liked the part where she was cleaning up the floor on episode 2 ... because she didn't know what was ahead of her. Me and my sister said it was pretty smart for the cop to be stashing water. It looked like he was getting ready to leave town

I can't wait until the next episode! We are loving how they are showing it from the begining and showing how everything happened unlike what happened in The Walking Dead.

Bintsy : yeah, what the cop was doing was smart but it seemed like the impression we were supposed to get was that the cop was doing something shady by getting the water.

I was more under the impression that it was more of a not-so-subtle hint that things were worse than they appeared. The cop was talking to the lady as if nothing was wrong, saying that traffic cleared up at some intersection up ahead, and yet he's taking water. Travis knows what's happening, and seeing the cop taking water makes it obvious to him that even the police are giving up hope. I thought it was designed to let us know that it was worse than even we know at the moment, due to the fact that the media is obviously attempting to cover it up.

I'm definitely into this series. I love the Walking Dead, and this is definitely a different and fresh take on the story. I'm definitely going to be keeping up with this show as much as possible, lol.
