I'm going to admit, I don't really get what all the hype was around Doodle Jump. I remember back in high school, plenty of people had been playing it and loving it and I asked to try it out once and I just didn't get the hang of it. I tried it again with this version recently and even though its a fun way to pass the time, I just don't really get it. I do like the game and have played it for a couple of hours in total so far but I can't find myself capable of playing it for more than 5 to 10 minutes at a time.

GRAPHICS 6/10

When it comes to the graphics, I feel that they are okay, but they are also a bit too simple. You have the backgrounds, the various colored platforms, and the different villains to face off against, but that's all that you have in this department. All the game is about is really really simple drawings, and yes, they are good, but they aren't exactly great, even for a mobile game. That doesn't mean that they are bad either, I'd have to say that in terms of graphics, the game is right around the middle, not perfect but not ugly to look at and my grade for graphics is going to be a 6 out of 10.

SOUND 6/10

I'm not really that big a fan of the stuff that you hear in the game and I think that there could have been just a bit more. The sounds are okay but I think are too basic and needed some work and for that, my grade for sound is going to be another 6 out of 10.



ADDICTIVENESS 6/10

This game is quite addicting, but only really in short bursts and the way I see it, this game wasn't meant to be played for long periods of time, but meant to play a couple of rounds here and there. You can easily get a couple of hours of game play out of this game, but I'm sure many of us have a lot better things to do than play this for a few hours in a row. The only point to the game is to try to beat your high score, so once your score gets high enough, there's really no reason to keep on playing. There's really nothing else, even the level system has no point, you could keep playing just to level up but levels do nothing at all, so high scores are the only things that keep you in the game. Since there's nothing else to keep you occupied, you won't actually want to keep playing this game unless you are really bored and for a grade, addictiveness is going to get another 6 out of 10.

STORY N/A

There's really no story whatsoever, I can even list every single thing that you can do in the game just to prove theres no story. You jump as high as you can for a better score, you shoot enemies, you collect power up money and buy power up money, and you level up. That's everything that the game is about, theres nothing more, no story, so for that this grade is going to be left blank.

DEPTH 1/10

This game has nothing, yes nothing. Just take a look at all the things that you can buy with the money that you can collect, theres only 4 boosts and power ups that you can even buy. On top of that, there's only a couple of villains that you can battle and all you are doing js jumping higher and higher. Just the fact that levels have no use proves how little this game has to offer, you could spend hours playing just so you can gain like 30 more levels and you will not get anything out of it at all. Lets face it, this game has nothing and as for a grade, this aspect is going to get a 1 out of 10.

DIFFICULTY 7

I think this game is actually quite difficult and the first reason as to why I think that is because of the tilt controls, which can be very hard at times. If you tilt your phone too much you will simply miss the ledge that you were aiming for and go off the edge. You can also get killed by one of the enemies when this happens, which happens a lot. One other thing that makes the game difficult are the enemies themselves, you really have to time everything and be careful where you are because unless you jump on them or shoot them, they will kill you on contact, which can really be a pain, and the bigger enemies need to be hit so many times before they are defeated. One other issue I the fact that you can't stop jumping, the moment you hit a ledge you jump again and I don't like this, it really throws it off and makes you think really quickly. At times, unless you are already really good at this game, its going to be tough for you and my grade for difficulty is going to be a 7.

OVERALL 6/10

This game is free so there's really nothing for you to worry about but if you plan on getting a lot out of it, I wouldn't count on that. The game is fun and can be very useful when you are bored, but not at other times unless you have played it before and likes it or have liked the original game. This game did keep me busy but on a scale of fun, it was no better than okay and my overall grade for Doodle Jump DC is going to be a 6 out of 10.
