Is there anybody excited for the new Pixels movie that should be coming out next Friday? That's a movie that I am really excited about seeing and from the trailer it looks like it happens to be really funny with at least a few really good moments throughout the movie.

I heard so many bad things about movies based on games, but this I based on games I general so I'm not really too sure.

What are your thoughts on Pixels?

I'm kind of excited about it though it honestly seems like It'll be more of a guilty pleasure movie than anything considering Adam Sandler's track record (I mean ugh Grown Ups 2) though a lot of Adam Sandler movies are a guilty pleasure of mine so I don't think I would mind too much.

But yeah this movie isn't based on a particular game those are usually the movies that are bad, this is more of a movie that has to do with video games or retro games overall rather so I doubt that's something that would even matter in this case.

And it being based on video games is obviously a big reason why I'm excited, there really should be more video game themed movies overall. I remember laughing so hard when I first saw that scene in the trailer where Pacman's creator tried to talk to him XD

I mean to be honest if it wasn't I probably wouldn't be nearly as excited for it but it is so I am, hence it being a guilty pleasure (so combined with Adam Sandler being in it, that makes it a double guilty pleasure .-.). Either way I probably wont go see it in cinemas but I'll end up watching it sooner or later.

Zlinqx : Kind if like how wreck it Ralph was about games in general in a way and for me, Sandler is really the only one in interested in seeing, don't really care all that much about the rest of them .

I've been interested in it ever since I saw the trailer for it, though I will definitely not be watching it in theaters because the only movie that's coming out this year that I want to see in the theaters is Star Wars: The Force Awakens. I'm probably going to get it when it comes out on Redbox though. A movie about video game characters attacking Earth is absurd, but yet it peaks my interest. Will I enjoy it? Who knows, but I will watch it somewhere down the road.

For sure. I'll see it the week after it opens. All I had to do was see Centipede and I was sold. I'll bet Sandler is good in it too, He's due.

I've been excited about the movie coming out ever since I first knew about it several months ago. I went to the movie theater to see another movie and when I walked in I saw a poster for Pixels. Pac-Man on the poster was all I needed to see. XD

I really like the concept of the movie, so it isn't just Pac-Man starring in it that made me interested. I think it'll be a pretty good movie, and even though I haven't seen the trailer for it, I think there will be a ton of funny moments Pac-Man is easy to make funny moments out of in my opinion.

I just learned I get paid the morning it comes out so I might end up going to see it that day.

After the new Star Wars movie (and MAYBE the new Magic Mike) Pixels is the movie I want to see the most this year. Anything video-game related deserves our attention, although it usually ends up sucking (Mario Bros.)

janus : Well since its not based on the games themselves but on the genre in general; it might be good since there aren't really any restrictions now.

Has anyone seen this yet? It's been out for a day now and there's so many bad reviews about it that I'm not actually sure as to whether I want to go see it. It's got a 19% on Rotten Tomatoes, which could put it as one of the 5 lowest rated big movies of the year. It does have the same score as Transcendence, which I had to watch twice, so hopefully the comedy and effects are good enough, maybe?

Anyone seen it yet?

zanderlex: If I were you, I would still go see it even though its getting so many bad reviews. That's the same boat that I'm in right now...I will still go see it because it has Adam Sandler and Peter Dinklage in it. I'm a big Game of Thrones fan and as soon as I saw Dinklage in the previews, I was like "I have to go see this." I mean, I've seen plenty of movies that got bad reviews before I went to go see it, and they turned out great. In my opinion, its stupid to not see a movie just because it gets bad reviews.

Oh and by the way...its a movie about video games. I know its not about the actual games but the characters from the games are in it. We'd be stupid not to go check it out, right?

MattyIce : True, we'd be stupid not to see it since it's based on games, but movies based on games historically have been very bad. Though those are the ones primarily based on specific games, while this one is just based on the genre like you said.

I have been dying to watch the movie, to be honest. But one of my friends who I have been planning to see it with, is obsessed with saving money. So he's been sending me reviews from critics off of rotten tomatoes, and lemme tell you, they aren't too pretty. but I want to watch it anyways!

pokemonfangirl : Well, as long as we like it, that's all that matters. A lot of people liked the movie from the trailers because of the acting, but I don't actually care about who's in it or the story, for this one I just care about the effects, action, and comedy.

Sandler's in it. I'm not surprised, but I'm going to see it soon.

GamingN00B : I think I've only seen two movies with Sandler in them ever, the Mr. Deeds one, and bedtime stories. I'm not too much of a fan of his.

One word: voxels. Those giant attack game sprites the aliens summon are made of voxels, not pixels... Pixels are two dimensional, voxels are pixels with the addition of volume to make them three dimensional. Now that that is out of the way...

I'm leary about this movie. Don't get me wrong, it could be very good, but just not what we might expect when we walk into the theater. I'm probably going to end up seeing this movie if only to see a midget fight a giant version of donkey kong and centipede among other things.

Chindogu : So why didn't they call the movie Voxels? When I first saw someone replied here I was praying it was someone who saw the movie since I'm still debating whether to see it, but I guess if I wake up early enough tomorrow ill go and see it.

zanderlex : Probably because most people only know what a pixel is. Then again some people don't even know what a pixel is, I have a friend who I had to explain what they were to... He's from my generation and uses electronics frequently so I was disheartened when I had to explain what a pixel is to him. I also didn't know voxels existed until I started researching different VFX techniques, so thats something right there. It's not a widely known term yet so just calling the movie "Pixels," since thats what the sprites were rendered as in the original games, is more PR friendly.
