To start out, Sims 2 is a very good Sims game. It is one of my personal favorite games and is very creative and fun to play through. Though, the game does tend to get a bit confusing and difficult at some parts, and also is hard to keep your character healthy.
To start the graphics are really mediocre for a PSP game. Game like Prince Of Persia, Dragon Ball Z, Naruto etc. All show the PSP graphics that can immediately catch your eye. However, Sims 2 doesn't focus on this. They don't focus so much on the graphics or the sound. But it's true area where it shines is one you start playing through the game.
This game is really addictive. Even now, I'm still playing through making choices that will later impact what will happen next. It immediately gets you to replay the game, this time with different choices. And each choice makes a difference. Playing as any gender will have an impact, making me play as both female and male and enjoying the different dialogues some characters may have, having to make sure I don't lose all my money, lose all my friends, and many more.
The story here takes more of a supernatural theme to it. Where you are in the desert looking for a home when a woman gives you her home. However, upon moving in, you find out that the house is haunted with ghosts. And it's your job to get them out. And while trying to get them out, you meet everyone in town. Neighbors that love that you moved it, neighbors that hate you, friends, robots, scientists and much more. You even end up visiting the military towards the end and even finding out about their secret projects. The game also has so much to offer. You can chat with people, to increase your friendship, or you can flirt to increase your romantic relationship, or you can intimidate people to decrease both your romantic relationship and your friendship. If you do any of these, after a certain point they will tell you a secret, which is sometimes dark, and sometimes funny, and other times opens up an entire new story that you can investigate. Or the secret takes you further into your current story. The game has immense amounts of feature and things that you can do including zombie mini-games. There is just so much to do, you'll keep going back to the game. Even I'm still going through the game.
This game is not easy though. It may be easier for the older audience, however, the younger audience may have more trouble progressing through the plot, because of the small mini-games that improve or decrease your relationships. They can be challenging at times and sometimes may take some time to think about. They're easy at first, but as your relationship increases or decreases it gets harder to chat with people, because if you say something off subject, your relationship decreases, and after a certain point they will refuse to talk to you. But don't worry, they normally forgive you after a apology or if you give them money. You do however have to work up your relationship again though.
I personally rate this game a 8/10. It has immense depth to it and really has a lot of very fun and interesting mini-games. However, it's held back by the sound quality, graphics and also the sometimes broken chat mini-game when speaking to other people in the game. Also because of the fact that the lack of customization you can have in your house. It's disappointingly small, even though there are 8 different places in your house, you can only have a small amount in each area of your house. And also even though the game has a lot of choices, it would've been better if you were able to choose how it would all end. Like if someone's marriage is failing, it would be great if you were able to either help the marriage and help them with their problems, or let the marriage fail anyway. It would've been nice having these types of choices. But unfortunately they didn't have it, which I can say I was a little disappointed when I couldn't. Though don't let it keep you from playing this game. It's really great and I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a fun, long and addictive game. To start out, Sims 2 is a very good Sims game.
