     *Hits dice block and rolls 6 spaces* Yaaa-Hoooo (+3 coins) It's a me S57! Welcome one and all to another adventure with this hedgehog, strangely enough unlike usual I'm actually waiting for everyone else to arrive as well *taps letter* it says that we should be waiting in front of the castle for a special surprise since it's our birthday's today so we're getting a special surprise from our fungus-amongus friend. Guess we'll just wait here and talk it off until they're ready, speaking of which.....I'm sure we've all experienced that feeling of anticipation when you know that a great friend of yours birthday is coming up. You'll be anxiously waiting, thinking about what you may do for that special day or where you may go while being a jitter-jittery Jr. Troopa about what you and everyone else may be planning. Seeing an hearing the reaction of your friend as they become the superstar...erm I mean...as they get their surprise gift for their special day. *warp pipes come out of the ground, User of this joins in* Guess we can finally get back on board with where we were going, and as anyone would know the only way and best way to settle a birthday part has to be with a special game. *jumps into Party Cube* A very special MAARRIO PARRTY!!!

           /5____Special series come to be know and love, showing grander looks than before__/2

    Ahh the refreshing and sweet "Party" series with our grand hero of the shroom race, Mario! (though bit of a lazy "plumber" if you ask me recently) We've seen this series go from it's starting days down upon the N64...Giving cramps with 1, then all the nostalgia and love with 2, and leaving us with the final game our eyes got to see that's underrated. (at least from what a couple toads are telling me) Now when we take a look at the graphics though fun and animated since the beginning, it's pretty obvious to tell that they've been very basic for what you'd normally see on the N64 with other games like: "Goldeneye, Donkey Kong 64, and Majora's Mask" wherein all of those were very detailed and really brought out the games look with its environments and characters.Meanwhile *flips two panels over* we look around and see a plastic-like looking board all around our characters as we move around; and yet, it's never been much better than that...besides looking at mini-games or other areas. Well though that saga for the system ended with those three *camera pans over to Gamecube* and now....it's being revived and brought back with this new generation of systems and surprise surprise for all of you out there, it actually is in my opinion one of the best looking Mario Party games in the series. (Between GC and Wii series) The boards are clearer and  inventive, designs of characters are sharper, and just tiny scenes drive to make this game look wonderful. Talking like this forever though won't get a good picture in your thoughts, so how about we roll that dice block and land on some example spaces shall we? *Punches Dice Block and moves on*

        |oOo__---Shy Guy's Jungle Jam---__OoO|

    *Jumps out of bushes onto platform* Phew, it's been a long time since we've been shipped to an amazon kind of board to play this party out...believe the last time we did so was in our very first try at this tradition. Starting this board off right away we are moving all around a rocky and plain like atmosphere, and all around you get that feeling of an ancient tribe's place of residence or like some ritual is about to be performed with that giant stone shy guy at the peak of the level. Guess you just better be careful and watch out for any traps among those blue spaces! (not really, but what if a spear came out of a red one ) Ok so sure this may not seem like much for now; but, what if we took a trip to that Shy Guy statue and see what happens when we try interacting? *kneels down folding hands and makes wish* ...Wait for it.... *Shy guys floods intersections between areas* ...looks like that copyright wish wasn't shared eye to mask with one another...well as you can see this is what happens with the stage as well it can be overflowing with water block off some paths.
    There's also just a normal river that flows in between the two sides of this board, with the water looking very clear or at least the best for the series at this point, making the area kind of pretty to stare at during gameplay from time to time. So this still isn't raising your expectations "high" enough? Fiiiinne I'll talk about one last thing with this level...step over here please *places viewer onto Klepto's talons and take it off* Hoooow isss thiiiiss?? For a little while you can fly alongside this animal and get a "bird's eye view of the stage, and look you can even get some exchange from it as well. *volcano erupts* AHHH AHHH AAAHHHHH!! *falls into flooded area* nnnn...my quills and fur  L-Let's just move onto the next example now...I'm burning up and need to move on *rolls 1 and moves slowly to blue space*

                ◊+-Goomba's Greedy Gala

    nnn...ngh! *gets golden coin platform wet* So tired; although, at least I'm cooled off now and am not on a tiki torch of nightmares. But where am I now *see's shining bright lights and lottery slots all around* oh gosh...I went from one nightmare ending to another nightmare v-v why did I have to land up inside a Shroom Vegas person's dream location?! What's going to happen to all my gold rings they're going to get hijacked and stolen from me by some filthy mushroom with legs and a head? Basically if you wanna picture what this area looks like just think of any cartoon or video games idea of a big shot Casino, where the lights are bright enough to wanna blind your eyes and your vision gets multicolored wherever you look.
    Right as you get off your starting point you'll be bombarded with shops or lottery gains in order to gain and spend money, plus knowing how gambling works they decided to make where you land also like gambling where it's mostly PURE luck. Wherein you are forced to roll a ball inside this spinner and wherever it lands is where you get to go, and just like in real life you see that ball spinning and you're hoping it goes where you desire. (but usually doesn't) If you're not already losing enough money from all the diva shows and roulette wheels then time to be hurt even more, as there are portions where you MUST win a dice roll against a goomba otherwise you'll be sent all the way back to the start so that could cost you more $$$. After playing through all of this and seeing the huge coins in the background you realize that's the dept you'll have after this level and it's expensive scenery of technocolor lights and machines all over @-@ *sniff* my poor...hedgehog wallet.

    *shows up with dumpster clothes and empty pockets* Well...that's all the examples we'll be giving for the graphics section of this party, so all in all we can see that the graphics have GREATLY improved from the N64 days and it actually looks good for an early Gamecube game in general.  Still isn't the most amazing game you can see; however, with all these improvements I'd have the give the graphics for this game a 9 out of 10. Let's a go!....onto the next map *jumps from cube into next world*

       !!__**Pipping new soundtrack, just as nice and nostalgic as before**__!!

    *kicks back on soirée chair, tapping foot* Yeaah! Everyone remembers the sweet tunes that Nintendo was able to duke out on the past trilogy of games and how some of those has become N64 favorites or at least very honorable mentions in people's top ?? list of songs for a system. Whether it's Space Land from the second adventure or Bloober Sea from the previous entry it's been a shared though that the music was perfect towards the game and layouts of each area. Since we've now brushed onto a new system it leads one to wonder if the soundtrack for this game will have gone down in quality in comparison to the games beforehand or if it can hold up nicely to the classic tunes we know and love. I can definitely say easily that this games soundtrack is always at least to me a joy to listen to when you pop in this game to play as there's not really one them I absolutely don't like listening to when I'm on a board or am in a certain mini-game unlike later entries in the series. Also since this is a new system with better graphics for the world and its characters the voices for each character has been changed.
    Don't have to worry about those voices from the previous game that you mostly likely than not laugh at due to how bad it is and what character the voices go to, so no more "WHRAAAAAHHH's" or "ahaha I'ma deeee best's!" here now the voices of the characters are more defined and honestly better sounding instead of...well...sounding hilariously bad xD like something pausing them from saying it completely/normally. I think now would be the perfect time to say what I feel are some of the nicest songs you'll hear throughout your journey in this birthday board party adventure

                /_____________________________/
                ---Toad's Midway Madness Theme===/

    DAAAAA dada dum dedede dum dum dede de dum...jeez if you ever wanna talk about a theme that's opening and really makes you feel welcomed into a board map, then I believe you've gained your answer right here with this theme. To be perfectly honest I think this has to be one of the most peaceful themes you can hear in ANY Mario Party game because the high notes and peaceful tone it keeps all the way through with the harp that comes in from time to time, it just makes you wanna lay back and take it easy with your controller in hand and easily play a few moments of this board with friends or alone with AI opponents. There are only really 2 themes that I think are similar to this one in how they generally make you feel calm/happy, those being Mario's Rainbow Castle from Mario Party 1 and Deep Bloober Sea from Mario Party 3. The two of these both being very relaxful compared to most other levels in each game, though the Bloober sea one also feels really upbeat at the same time. Because of this I feel that Toad's Midway madness is one of the best songs to listen to if you're stressed or just desire to be relaxed while watching/playing a game. Pretty nice theme so let's move on!
                _                                 _
           *::|_|::*Into the Cube*::|_|::*

    Now, I know that this theme is very very short only lasting around 7-8 seconds; yet, the reason why I love this song is because of the graphics and animation that occurs right before the song plays and the way the music starts up with the curtain opening up for your Party Game with your friends or comfortably alone with the computers as balloons raise up from below and leave the screen. Hehe just like having birthday surprise right ? I know some viewers/critiquers will wonder why I chose this and not the "Start the Party" theme which follows right after this song ends, as don't get me wrong I love that theme too. The reason why I'm putting it up for sure besides the reasons already listed above, is for the fact that it has such a strong introduction for the opening animation of the Party Mode feature in the game before switching over to the other theme shortly afterwards.
    The best way I can describe how it feels is when you hear that short jingle of the "Into the Cube" song it's almost like those scenes from movies or live events wherein something enters into the dining area/is being promoted and revealed as a huge surprise from behind the curtain, leaving everyone so emotional afterwards. Then just after that we get to hear soft and lovely tune of the "Start Party" song which has a feeling like: "ok now that you've been dazzled by our secret kindly select however else you'd like the rest of this moment to go and enjoy it" which I really do enjoy as it gets you into that spirited mood wherein you're ready to have fun and not necessarily care how it ends, which wouldn't be possible if he hadn't had that strong intro from this theme. Just a perfect and wonderful short song

    Looking upon everything...even if I still prefer some themes from the N64 entries over this games entries, it's very easy to say that this game definitely at least lives up the original greatness that we were presented with back then. Between the melodies being just as calm or exciting as the past games, and the upgrade in the characters voices being far improved upon from the classic days. I think it's fair and safe to say that this party deserves an 8 out of 10 for its sound. *Mingame wheel spins* ~Next Segment~

              $$!!++Enjoyable music, Beautiful graphics, same great addictive gameplay++??%%

      It's definitely no secret that when people gather around to enjoy this beloved saga, they sit down and pop in the disc for the wonderful memories the received between the music and sounds they've kept intact between each area or the way a certain stage may appear due to one incident they remember the last time they played with friends/played the game. Then of course you have the most important element to each game, that's how every one of them played out! Some people love the second game for its bright story telling before the game and its conclusion afterwards, and some people enjoy the very first game for how it allowed only 1 player mini games making it easy to
earn money for yourself instead of winning and being worried of sharing it with 1 or 2 other players/CPU's. So what is it that defines this 4th installment into the series, what makes it one of the perfect games to pick up and play when you're around with others or just want that simultaneous MP action? There are many things that have been employed to strengthen this game's addictiveness quality and value, as such I'll go over a couple of those reason right now and give you a better picture of how fun it can be.

    One of the main things as we've stated above clearly is the whole fact of having the graphics updates to look clear and fresh, making certain locations seem brighter and more eye-catching, combined with the music that was given to us from just pressing start on the title screen to simply choosing a random party world leaving us with a calm and wonderful setting to play/chill out with. It's one of the main reasons why this game is addictive just like the last entries in the series that we were gifted with in our youth. The second reason would probably have to be the new stage/item features that were implemented in this game (and never really seen again for some reason?) during just about every stage you'll run into certain obstacles and shops that you can't seem to get past or to at all? These obstacles usually being pipes that require the new Mini-Mush item which'll turn you tiny allowing you to go through the pipes and enter certain shops only available this way, the same can also be said for the new opposition of this item as well...the Mega-Mush item which can be bought from the shop and will allow you to roll not only 2 dice but crush anyone and gain money in the process; however, you can skip stars or shops this way so be careful.
    Bringing us to the final point which I feel makes this game addictive above most others in the franchise! (even the N64 releases) Usually when you talk about Mario Party you'll discuss some mini-games and ones you may hate based on luck, both in game and how it's decided (typical roulette wheel between 3 games) which still exists in this game...don't blow your bubbles yet thinking it's completely gone. What the big chance is if a battle is initiated now instead of having the same wheel, each and every character (human or CPU) will get to individually get to choose what battle mini-game they'd prefer to play, and it's determined by whichever game has the most votes. (guess it does rock-paper-scissors in head if it's a tie) I personally LOVE this feature cause not only is it fair for each  player; but, it also means that your pick influenced which game was summoned so if you lose it's not really lucks fault and more your own. Seems like enoough info for this one spot as I can't spoil everything for you now can I? ;P

  After all of that I hope I could shed some light on that dice block of yours, and not just have your eyes roll when I said there are things that'll make this game more interesting and worth while to try out. With my honest opinion I'd say this game did quite well in stepping up the addictiveness value for the series and itself in general, similarly to how MP3's story mode had an end boss, this game improves with the added options and more of a dynamic tone to the levels amongst the new items you'll be given. Therefore, this leads me to give the addictiveness value for this 3rd time sequel to the original work of art a 9 out of 10.

              (??)|_??_|Still not a wonderland fill of a story, though most understanding and expressive|_!!_|(!!)

    We already know by now that this series either relies on: "A. no story at all, B. A very basic one with not much of a plot, or C. A plot that's small but creative." and at this point we'd probably be trying to figure out which one of the 3 it'd be most likely to be like once more. To be honest I originally thought the answer was going to be "B" when I first came about this adventure; and yet, it actually turns out to be "C" once more after the last time. Though the plot may be basic and not all around like other games you'd see on this system it's fair to say it's better and longer in explanation than MP2's storyline, so though this score may not be high it'll still be a little above the typical score we'd see for this series. Why not let us discuss this whole "story" in better detail for a bit eh?  *pans camera to front of castle*

    Twas' just a normal day in our lovely residence of the Mushroom Kingdom, just about everyone of our friends in this world gathers around the castle to hang out most likely? When all of the sudden a dark figure starts appearing from behind the castle, blocking up the sun's shining rays upon the players. Shocked and worried the players stand back and wait to see what could possibly be headed their way, as a....big gift bag descends towards them with Toad and many residents jumping out for our characters. Turns out he's had a special gift for us planned and that instead of just being simple and giving it away to us, he's created a fun and inventive game for us to play through and after playing and defeating one of them in a match that's specific to only one of them. After agree to this decision everyone makes their valiant and enjoyful jump into the party cube where the areas are hidden, awaiting to be played and have their prizes gained by the lucky winner. *yellow tail and fiery breath slides into room slightly*

    Like stated at the opening of the section, this story one of the more detailed ones inside the series, which as we know doesn't really mean much story wise when compared to other games like Mario Sunshine or Luigi's Mansion. Because of this even with it's more descriptive opening and description of what's going on with this whole events, I'm sadly only able to give this game a 5 out of 10 for its story. *lands on red space* (-6 coins) Ohhh nooo....*looks down*

              [][]Average amount of fun, with some new creative ideas][][

    Strangely one thing I find very interesting about this series as a whole is its depth value at times, since sometimes things chance only by a tiny margin...they change by a more open-ended and larger margin, or other times they actually decrease in the quantity of work/fun you're able to have within the game. All the games so far after the 1st MP game have only had 6 boards compared to the 8 board we were given in that very first and original installment? Not sure why we gained that decrease; however, as you may or may not have expected from that fact above...this game also only has 6 boards (like 2 and 3) which again don't know why it doesn't compare with how many the starting game of the series had? There are also only 62 mini games meaning that this game is second to least in terms of having the lowest mini-games found inside the cartridge, so just another downgrade from the classic trilogy? That's all there really is when we talk about "normal" depth so why not start talking about a few examples of what's new/creative with this game compared to past ones and some things you may be able to unlock by certain means. Let's a go! *Lands on mushroom space and grows enormously*

              ~+-New Additions/Upgraded Features-+~

    Just like with seeing what new board of mini-games will be offered to this players in this series of slapstick fun and joy, the preview of what may be newly introduced in this game that wasn't seen prior to many games beforehand or what could've been altered or changed to make better on existing features is another huge tension raiser and one that I see a lot of people going nuts over, wanting to know if new characters were added or how some elements of the board shall work? The thing that may surprise you the most in terms of inclusions is that they've added different spaces onto the board, a couple of them actually and some that are just upgraded/altered from what the were before so not exactly the same. The two new additions were with the "Warp Space" and "Mushroom Space" those of which sound really obvious to their name "warp" meaning that you'll probably switch places with another person or go straight to them (the latter being the correct outcome) and I know...hold it, wait wait wait, we've already had a mushroom space in a previous entry of the party series. You're correct; although, what makes this one different is you're not choosing between getting to roll again or having to stay back for your next turn...it's about choosing between a free mini or mega shroom though it's random and the size of each box doesn't mean that it'll be for sure the big or small shroom. Thinking about upgraded features now, we've already mentioned how the game has altered the battling system by allowing you to choose what battle game you'll be playing (usually) which does offer more depth and a well needed upgrade, so it's mostly fair on whom fails or wins.
    Bringing me to the final upgrade/addition to this game that I feel not only compliments the addictiveness; but, the depth as well for how much it affects certain scenario's of gameplay and how lively it can also make certain boards for their gameplay features. That would be the level events that occur when landing on a happening (?) space in a board, and in past adventures most of these would be dangerous moves (most of the time ending up sending players back or losing something) and as such it made it really great to land on those spaces to mess with other players while thinking about not having it mess you up either. With Mario Party 4 though...it's kind of split between the two, with some events like the "Shy Guy Statue" flooding water causing the other half of the board to be unreachable to everyone for a certain amount of turns with this one being good or bad for players, while on the other hand a happening space on Goomba's Greedy Gala is only profitable for the person whom lands on it as it's basically free money for yourself. That's all I can talk about here with additions and changes in some platforms, there are many other features such as extra boards and games you can play by unlocking them or just going to the extra menu on the game screen to find special games; although, I think that'll be best left with you all to try and experience it at some point or look it up

    Though things can be longer here time is always of the essence and it's something I don't want to waste of yours either, hopefully as you can see there have been many things you're allowed to do inside this game and all the new additions/outcomes that the game presents you with as well. There is definitely more to see and find about the game so don't think I've ruined your b-day surprise by giving you all the information or clues upon it. Speaking of the b-day gift and time, it's starting to get dark and we're headed towards the end of our special event for you all so I'll leave my depth score here as an 8 out of 10!

               ??!!---Indefinite difficulty that relies on a players ability and luck of the roll---!!??

    *CPU lays down sparky sticker* We all knew what was coming with this segment, it's usually always exactly the same with each addition into this party-filled saga. The series is mostly reliant on 2 separate elements: "the players ability" on mini-games and the normal board and "luck" in general. I've never seen anyone just be like: "oh I want a 7 on the dice block this turn...ok...hit it now" and actually get the exact number or thing they may've desired that turn. Mario Party 4 is also probably one of the fairest in the series in terms of the mini-games that you'll play as I don't see that many luck games or ones that pop into my head right away, like other ones from later or earlier series actually do. Another thing I'd mention with the difficulty is that with the 2 most prominent new items given to players in this game, it makes not only going through a board easier (with the different blockades or traps) but it can also make getting money in this game a lot simpler and more of a concern. Unlike previous games where if you were around 120+ coins there weren't many ways that we could bring you down at all so if you're worried about having that happen again during a party game you had set up, well just say you can certainly sock some sense back into that characters wallet.
    By using a Mega Mushroom and crushing players, draining ten coins from them and since you can use 2 dice blocks with this you may even be able to hit a second swing on them if you've rolled high enough. While on the defensive team (trying not to be crushed by mega shroom) it's also fair sided because you can use a mini-mush to run into those small pipe blockades and be safe from anyone trying to attack you and since you only roll one dice 1-5 you definitely won't go over the pipe's protection area, leaving the difficulty with attacking or being attacked fair and moderately easy. The events that occur from the happening spaces also can increase or decrease difficulty depending on what action takes place, and in areas like Goomba's Gala there's ways to help increase your chance of winning a dice game/moving game by paying a certain amount of coins. Nothing else I can really think of to bring up for the difficulty of this game, as personally even though they could've obviously made the game a tad harder or easier I feel that it's at a nice tiny bit lower than average difficulty; though, the difficulty is made in mostly fair methods leaving me to give the score a 6 out of 10?

     *jumps out of party cube smiling and embracingly* Looks like our celebration and party time is coming to its natural conclusion, overall I hope it was a fun ride for every one of you and that there was a lot to be had inside this birthday surprise before we presented you with your lovely gifts *points to boxes in corner* hope you'll all enjoy it and had a wonderful birthday with all of us in this planned adventure. Byyeee! *User of this falls back into party cube, as shoots off into sky* Guess this is where our party ends as we head to open up our gifts and see what's inside, know that this party was great for us...just wonder...how was this Mario Party...4 you? *opens up box and see's images of characters smiling on midway madness and shy guy's jungle jam*

                ---Toad's Midway Madness Theme===/

                _                                 _
           *::|_|::*Into the Cube*::|_|::*

    With some sheer force of luck (like some of these mini-games) I was able to finish my second review for this month, hopefully you guys will enjoy it, I know it's VERY extensive and to be honest I didn't expect it to be this long nor did I try to make it this long. Just wanted to make sure I could try and get it out for you before the 31st past (apparently rushing your mind to get something done, makes me create something larger @.@). Hope it's still nice and sorry for the wait and length, thanks for reading and hope to see you all again next month < 3 always means a lot!
