This actually looks like it's going to be a lot of fun. I might be able to participate. Even President Reggie Fils-Aimé is going to join in on the fun.

Funny how he was training with two Super Nintendo Super Scopes with Mario by his side. He even trained by playing the Virtual Boy. haha

This was an ingenious move on Nintendo's part, and could easily get people proclaiming they "won" E3 (because we all proclaim a winner each year, as though it were some sort of sport or tournament). But heck, Nintendo's fanboys are so fiercely loyal that Reggie could sit on a chair and sing folk songs all night and they'd proclaim them the winners ( xD exaggerating, of course), but I digress.

Still, this could sway even a Sony fanboy like myself to proclaim Nintendo the winner this year, if they can follow through. My only concern is this: are they doing tournaments like this and last year's Smash tourney because they still have the same time slot to fill as always, but not enough upcoming games to fill it? I mean less than two hundred games in two and a half years...I wouldn't be surprised if they did need this to fill time.

And Nintendo has gotten into the habit of amusing us with funny videos and tourneys and interviews, and avoided showcasing games heavily at E3, and really that's the whole point behind E3 as consoles and handhelds go. It really makes me wonder if they've lost focus...

Still, I don't mean to bash on them; I like Nintendo a lot. And I do think this will get them a lot of attention. As of this announcement many people have already forgotten that there will even be an XBox or PlayStation showcasing at E3, and unless one of these two pulls something drastic, Nintendo will garner most of the attention this year. Maybe this will help boost sales, or at least get them back into the minds of the public. I just hope this is a "Hey, we're still here, world!" and not a "Well this will help fill the empty space during our presentation". Sadly I feel it may be a mix of both. Maybe their next system will make them contenders again. Nintendo deserves that much if for no other reason than their legacy.

It is great to see that Nintendo is bringing back the Nintendo World Championship after the last event in 1990, although yeah, it will be part of E3 which means to enter, you have to pay a huge entrance fee (which is like around 10-15 times more than 1990's entrance fee after converting 1990's money to 2015's money).

It's interesting to see on what games will be featured, more likely it will be Super Smash Bros Wii-U and Mario Kart 8 that will be the games to play plus more.

The thing I wonder if they will repeat the same thing they did in the 1990 World Championship, make a Wii-U gold disk for people that competed and the reproduction Wii-U disks of the Nintendo World Championship 2015.

zeldaking1012 : This is really cool. I hope that everyone gets a chance to participate!
marioandluigi64 : I think that they want to highlight some Wii and Wii U games.

mario102 : If you think about it, over the course of 25 years between 1990 to 2015, we had a total of 5 Nintendo consoles that were released (SNES, N64, GameCube, Wii, & Wii-U). So, they may do some highlights over all of those consoles. It would be cool to see each console have their best game featured into the World Championship.

zeldaking1012 : That is something that is expected for a big event like the World Championship. With as many as a million people qualifying and 8 people wins a trip to E3 where the final 8 people competes each other to win the championship and those 8 people also gets a special price.

I've been playing the NES remix game on my 3ds and I would really like to compete but I'm going to be out of town when it's going on. I wish they gave users a little longer of heads up, then I could have planned better.

Either way, good luck to anyone who's competing!
