There was an ad about erections, condoms and crap. David, seriously fix this. This is supposed to be family friendly right....

A screenshot isn't always completely helpful. As horrible as it is.. if that happens again, try capturing a screenshot of the web address by either hovering over it and taking a screenshot (my computer / browser) will show the link on the bottom left of the screen)... or worse... clicking on it. I don't advise the last part though. Not really.

I used to get ads like that on Vizzed too. Then I put on AdBlock a couple years ago.

It hasn't come off since.

At this point, there's nothing that could make me deal with ads on Vizzed again. I really like the lack of ads on most sites. I just turn it off for Hulu and a few video streaming services, because their ads don't suck.

imamonster : Talking about that is no worse than commercials you see on TV. I'd have to see the ad for myself to judge whether it's R rated or not. Also, I can't block an ad based on description, you'd have to figure out who the ad is for and even then I usually can't disable specific ads.

legacyme3 : Yeah but the problem is, if everyone used an AdBlock, sites like Vizzed would have to shut down. I definitely wouldn't encourage other users to use AdBlock unless those users plan to help fund vizzed by donations.

Btw, I plan to eventually add an item to the item shop which would allow users to spend 25,000 - 50,000 Viz to have ads disabled, I think if users have contributed enough to the site to earn that much Viz then they do deserve to have ads disabled.

Davideo7 : that's actually a wonderful idea for a feature, not only do some of the ads do look not suitable, but they just tend to get in the way. I hates the ones that would fill up the screen when you rolled over them or the ones that wouldn't scroll so it would block stuff. I'm definitely on board with this.

I'm not advocating people use AdBlock, but for people like me who have contributed tons to the site, it's definitely an avenue I don't feel bad about using. I've contributed thousands of views by myself, and hundreds of thousands I would wager through my posts and threads, not to mention my actual work for the site, and the ten dollar donation I made years ago.

I think people should support the site, but I don't think turning ads off is a bad thing if you've contributed a lot to the site

yoshirulez! : That's true, ads are sometimes based on your browsing history. The fact that I haven't seen condom or erection ads makes me wonder what imamonster has searched for in the past.

Davideo7 : I have heard that as well. I'm getting a lot of Strategy RPG ads (not sure how this is relevant to me), and Microsoft ads (from all my research on Windows 10). I get the occasional car advertisement as well, but nothing about condoms and stuff.

Davideo7 : Believe me, I never search for stuff like that. My religion is heavily against it.  I JUST REMEMBERED! I was not on my PC, I was on my friend's PC who came over, So maybe he did...

From what I have seen, the ads people keep complaining about are run by AdChoices. The ironic thing is, it's supposed to protect your privacy and allow you control over the advertsements you see while ensuring that advertisers still get their business. But you can generally expect that any place where these ads appear, and any thing you Google, they are watching you and collecting data about you to show you user-specific ads.
You can actually click the ad-choices icon and 'opt out' of any kind of advertisement you see that is offensive to you and you will supposedly see no more ads by that company. That's the theory, but anytime you clean your cookies out you'll start that adventure all over again. On Google's part though, you can use their privacy controls to exert influence over how much of your net surfing impacts the ads you see. If you haven't used those settings at all, it's likely anything from surfing porn to surfing harmless medical-related stuff could have caused it.

Lumian : That could be true. Does vizzed use youradchoises, though? I'm nt really sure. Still, I think that it's stupid that they show it.

imamonster : Most any site that runs ads these days uses AdChoices, you can tell if that advertisement is controlled by AdChoices if there is a little blueish triangle in the upper right corner. All of the ones I have seen so far are, but maybe I am just not seeing the other types Vizzed runs (if there are any). If David is enrolled in some kind of legit ad program for this site, again, it's likely controlled by AdChoices.

Awesome, happy to hear you're gonna try going without adblock. If you still get those ads, try clearing history and cookies. That should take off the ammo for the ads.
