There have been 4 Kanto starters in Pokémon. Which one is your favorite? (I say 4 because Pokémon Red and Blue have 3 starters, Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur. Pokémon Yellow is also in Kanto and your only starter is Pikachu.)


To start this off, my favorite Kanto starter is Pikachu because he might be the most popular Pokémon in the world, he is just........... OH SO CUTE!!!!!!! Once I first saw Pikachu's face, I fell in love! I know there will still be Pokémon merchandise about Pikachu today. I want to have a Pikachu plush to sleep with me everyday someday!

For me it's a toss up between Charmander and Squirtle.  But if I have to choose I'd say Charmander, because there are other water pokemon that I like just as much. Plus it's nice to have the fire elemental to start due to the large number of grass/bug pokemon that you face early in the game.

I feel as if this thread has been done a million times over already, and 90% of the time, it is always about Kanto XD

Nonetheless I would have to say that squirtle is my favorite...it's a close call between squirtle and charmander, but if you think about it, Blastoise gets the advantage on both of them since it can learn both water and ice type moves. In addition to that, it is also fairly tanky. Out of the three of them though, I like Charizard's design the best  (never understood why they never made it dragon to begin with). Overall they each have their uses, but I like choosing squirtle because it helps with that first rock gym even though it isn't that difficult.

I'd say that Pikachu is my favorite since it's a electric type (my favorite type) and that Pikachu is just so cute. Yes, it's a bit weak, but I can still beat Pokémon easily with a Pikachu. The other starters I never really go attached to so I have to go Pikachu on this one.

Even though it's very hard to get through the start of the game without a water pokemon, I always started off the game with Charizard because it becomes one of my favorite pokemon in all of the games and is one of the strongest, even if it does take forever to get past the first gym.

I seen a whole lot of threads with the same question, on what is your favorite starter is, but if I do have to say that my most favorite happens to be Charmander, the reason why Charizard, because Charizard happens to be 3rd most favorite Pokemon in the whole series (only behind Noivern and Yveltal), so that's why if I have to pick started that is from the Kanto region, it's always Charmander. and also, you can't get wrong with Mega Charizard X, which is my most favorite Mege Evolved Pokemon in the series.

My favorite starter has to be bulbasaur. I always love walking the path least traveled and that, in Kanto, means going bulbasaur. I mean come on, who doesn't love a good solar beam!(or razor leaf for that matter...)

I always picked Squirtle or Charmander when I was younger. But my favorite starter is Squirtle because I like to teach HM's to it. That helps me out in the game later so that way I don't have to randomly capture something I don't want just to teach it HM's. Also, Squirtle has always made it easy for me to get past the first gym. I always found myself evolving my Charmander just to past the first gym. I could easily beat it with Squirtle without evolving it.

My favorite kanto starter would be... Charmander. I just like how its faster than the other two. Getting the first move often means you win. First attack on a lower level means less damage taken unless the enemy is faster. I also like fire types.

Technically there's five, though, isn't there? Oak intended for you to start with Eevee in Yellow, after all, and your rival actually does start with Eevee. Even so, I gotta go with Bulbasaur. I've always loved Poison-types. Special mention goes to the Charmander line, though- specifically Charmeleon and Mega Charizard X.
