It has always bothered me that this forum mixes two totally unrelated franchises, and I'd prefer they stay separate. But I'm not gonna change anything, so don't worry.

I agree that these need to be seperate, But what about, Smash bros. featuring dragon ball characters!! I would beat the crap out of mario with Vegeta.


I vote for dragon ball, It's my favourite anime and manga of all time. And maybe even franchise. I'm a complete dragon ball nerd. No seriously. I am.

DBZ is overhyped and often underdone. The last great DBZ game was Budokai Tenkaichi 3. Since the beginning, DBZ games have been hit-or-miss. They have never managed to put out a game that most reviewers would call "amazing". "Great", yes, but not amazing. Some might call Budokai 3 or Budokai Tenkaichi 3 an amazing game, but they are in the minority, or are fans of DBZ. Smash has consistently delivered on so many levels and have innovated. DBZ games have done some things quite well in the past, but have failed to innovate much, or any innovations were undermined in key areas. However, its "power-up" system has been retained in other fighting games, most notably the core Naruto fighting games, which have been much more consistent in their quality. Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 3, for example, isn't the most deep fighting game out there, but it nails its core mechanics and provides a diverse, huge cast. DBZ did it first, but Naruto has improved upon it in many different ways. This makes the Naruto game series a better, more polished series overall, but I acknowledge it's not better in every way.

Smash Bros. is my fighting game series of choice, but if I had to choose a secondary series, it'd be the core Naruto series.

imamonster : And that's perfectly fair. Tenkaichi 3 is a brilliant fighting game. And it did innovate. I didn't say all DBZ games didn't innovate. I said that their innovations were undermined in key areas. Tenkaichi 3 lacked polish and balance. While it allowed people to play as their favorite characters, good luck winning against a fully powered up Goku as Krillin. Glitches that caused problems existed. The animations are rather jerky in retrospect, as well, and the textures show their age and lack polish. Also, the whole ability to punch people through walls and such deserved to be fleshed out a bit more, in my opinion. It's good that it was there, but it needed more pizazz imo. Those who know a bit more about fighting games probably could flesh out what I've said a bit more, especially regarding balance issues. This game would probably do quite well with an HD remake.

Obviously Super Smash Brothers hands down. I am not really a Dragonball Z fan so eh. Super Smash Brothers is much popular and it has a diverse variety in its characters.

Dragon ball also has much more all around and diverse characters, Piccolo, vegeta Kami sennin, kid krillin, Gohan's character developement is in my opinion around a million times better then anything that the crappy smash bros. characters have. (Smash bros has some good characters. But if you say that mario and ness are good characters and as good as gohan, i'm gonna laugh at you)

I'd say Smash Bros, as I can see most people on here agree with me. Sure, the characters in DB and DBZ are creative and all, but I like characters that were created before in their own games, and then combining that into one huge fighting game. It's magnificent.

This is a tough one for me. Smash Bros is maybe my favorite fighting game of all time, but DBZ is also one of my favorite anime of all time, a title that's hard to quantify given how much anime I've watched VS how many fighting games I've played.

SSB has all the best and most memorable Nintendo characters, with some quirky interesting ones thrown in (Like Game and Watch) but DBZ has a massive universe with dozens of characters that have their own fighting style. Ultimately, I'd say I prefer SSB simply because the number of SSB games that have failed or been non-fun is 0, while DBZ has had a few terrible entries in the animated franchise (And that godawful movie) and a lot of crappy game versions.

This is also a close call. But I haven't watched DBZ for a really long time (It's been since 2009 I watched DBZ), but I have been playing Smash for a long time, so you can easily say that I will pick Super Smash Bros.

As much as I do LOVE the Super Smash Bros franchise I just think Dbz is better...Probably because it actually takes skill...Not saying that Smash bros doesn't but the game was MEANT to be easy...
