Fox "News" has been caught fabricating more stories than college students the night before a term paper is due.

There are so many other, more credible, news agencies that you can get your information from... and you SHOULD be getting your info from more than once source anyway.

Okay, my first thing that I'd like to say.

We aren't there, and are at the mercy of lies being thrown at us, and the internet is probably one of the worse tools that you can use to research stuff because of all the made up trash out there.

This is how big lies get around, cause people believe way to much new coming from halfway across the world.

Another question is, "who do you trust?"

I would trust the soldiers stationed there mostly, they are just guys like me who have to defend their lives.

I don't trust our own government, cause they have covered stuff up before to avoid taking the blame. See Sonic Adventure 2.

Now, regarding the terrorists.

-- Mohammad Nabi Omari, I found that he was a pretty prominent character.

He openly admitted with 36 other captives to having either membership or significant association with Al Qaeda, the Taliban, or some other group the government considers militarily hostile to the United States.

Mohammad Nabi Omari was listed as one of the captives who the military alleges were members of either al Qaeda or the Taliban and associated with the other group.

He was a member of the Taliban leadership.

He was involved in material seized in raids on Al Qaeda safehouses and facilities.

He openly admitted "serving Al Qaeda or the Taliban in some non-military capacity."

Khirullah was also to serve as the Taliban's Minister of Foreign Affairs spokesman, giving interviews to the British Broadcasting Corporation and theVoice of America.

Some reports have said he had been the Taliban's deputy minister of the interior, interim minister of the interior, the minister of the interior, and the Minister of Information.

Noori was reported to have ordered the Taliban fighters in his jurisdiction to peacefully surrender to Dostum's Northern Alliance forces.

     a. The detainee is a member of the Taliban.

1 The detainee traveled to Kabul to serve as a security guard for a Taliban official.

2 He later worked as a security guard for the governor of Jalalabad carrying a Kalashnikov rifle.

3 In 2000 the detainee moved to Mazar-E Sharif where he was a member of a 10-12 man team who provided security to the governor.

4 He was armed with a Kalashnikov while on guard duty.

5 The detainee served as the acting governor in Mazar-E Sharif for 8 to 9 months prior to his capture.

     b. The detainee participated in military operations against the coalition.He was fighting on the front lines at Mazar-E-Sharif as a Taliban fighter.

1 As the front lines in Mazar-E-Sharif fell, he moved with a majority of the remaining fighters to Kunduz to reestablish the front lines.

2 He participated in a meeting where Taliban leaders decided to surrender to the Northern Alliance.

3 He was captured by Northern Alliance forces along with a Taliban leader and five Taliban soldiers.

These are dangerous men, able to greatly help the Taliban. We didn't just give them worthless guys. Edict, you are someone whom I respect on this website, and would actually pat on the back and smile, please don't take that lightly, for I do not give people my respect by default, people who I see this way have earned it, and are a bright and critical guy. Just wanted to say that in case this comes across wrong.

Sword legion : For the most part, I agree. These were dangerous men, otherwise they wouldn't have been held in Guantanamo Bay for 12+ years. The question is whether they are still worth keeping after having been held for that much time. The US might just end up letting them go as they've done hundreds of times in the past (with other Guantanamo Bay prisoners), if they aren't of use. Since it was information that was sought, I doubt they are of use after 12 years.

That they weren't involved militarily against US citizens and that they were part of trade negotiations with the Taliban years ago might just have made them more suitable candidates for the trade. We aren't going to get a hostage back without concessions, so these aren't completely worthless per se (they had high positions back in the day). Still, if their information was depleted, the only left function of older high ranking officials is bargaining chips, which is precisely how they were used.

And I really appreciate what you said in that last bit. I think the same of you. =)

Summarily, they are biased beyond belief.
No news source that is biased should be trusted.

Good lord... If you release terrorists, what are they going to do? Bring more terror to more people. Releasing them for the life of one man, when thousands of lives can be put at stake, isn't smart. And all this other information about these kinds of things people are posting here, my simple response is to say that I can't wait until the 2016 elections.

I don't approve of releasing terrorists, especially for one man.
That being said, I don't agree with staining people without trial for years on end, or water boarding.
Swings and roundabouts I suppose.
Both sides use terror as a tool.
