Hello everyone. I thought to do a thread in this forum to discuss this topic. I don't know if all of you know that. When disabled people play a lot of video games that it makes them more smarter and intelligent in a way. I am one for example. Though I don't always appear to show it off, because I am not that type of person too. Anyways. The longer they play the more it helps. So it really does some good. I'm not saying they should stop learning other things. They grow to learn more about maybe what talent they have inside them. And also to have good potential as well. I was meant to do this long ago but, forgot too....to me when I think about it. Its amazing something like that can help in a way. I never thought about it properly but, I'm sure am happy that is a great development. That depends if they do play video games. Me it wasn't a problem as I grew up playing games. I always, and I mean always watched my big brother play. And I just sat there watching him very silently. And I was eager to learn! I never asked him for help as I always watched him play. And I would get some sense in the gameplay of what to do. Then that would trigger my mind in a way of. This is what I have done, so this is what I will do or have to do next. In a way while playing I was also thinking as well. And since video games in a way has helped. I have somewhat gain the intelligence, that I never thought to have. Thus which I keep to myself as I don't want people thinking too bad of me.

So! Lets discuss and talk on it. What are your thoughts? ^-^

I completely agree. While it is never good to overplay video games, one could learn a lot from it.

I had a few disabled friends (last year), as we would regularly visit a sort of 'center' or 'clinic' where they could get together and have fun, despite some of their uncapabilities. I went there in the first place because I had a disabled friend in class, and he asked me to help him get there. I ended up making a lot of amazing friends there, and I would always visit them on sundays. I suppose the clinic liked that, as I got 'nominated' at school once. Anyway, we did all sorts of stuff, and eventually reached the subject of video games.

I had them watch how you played the game, and they caught up really quickly. We began with quiet puzzle games, and went over to platformers and rpg's. It was a great thing to see them willingly play games sometimes when I got there.

So I would advice disabled people trying them out, however, do not play too much.

Eniitan : Interesting thread to be sure, and it's all true scientifically as well it's nice to know that Video Games have made a nice change to your life as a child and even now as an Adult ^-^! There is a video I do believe talk about this better than I could (but I'm not going to post that here in case of rule breaking ~advertising~). But yeah I completely agree with you as well Eni games do help people alot Disabled or Non-Disabled.

Of course like Furret said too much of anything can be bad for you as well just like anything ( water, games, or exercise). So of course if needed for the first time they can be monitored and told to take a break here and there.

My Verdict: Definitely allow disabled humans to play video games, but keep good hours like normal gamer's would, as that could end up being bad more so than the expected good results.

sonicthehedgehig57: I do remember other things can help as well. Like exercise and more its also great to do that. ^-^

Any kind of interaction is a learning experience. If soméone hasa disability which prevnts thm from going out much, socialising or working etc they lose out on experience.
To that end interaction with games is in fact a better alternative than nothing.
Of course games can b used for educational purposes too but I think interaction is the real theme bing discussed here.
The real problem is ?hen someone gets so used to this virtual world that they imply dont want þo stép into the realworld anymore.
As with all things in life balance is required.

thenumberone : I do my best to not always stay indoors, and be outside as it is not easy. Its not always easy for disabled people to socialize with people, because with what happened with them and whatnot so they do try. Even though they may lose out. some do in time go out when they want too. And will try to socialize. ^-^

As a video game lover, I do support video games helping others to help with improving brain activity. People don't think that video games are a benefit when they really are. It improves concentration, focus, brain activity, and etc.. Video games come in different genres like puzzles, action, strategy, and etc to help people learn. It's like a learning experience that you can actually use.

Although I am not a disabled person, video games did help me by improving my concentration and attention span. Yay for video games!

Eniitan : I'm a bit late with my reply because I forgot about this thread but thanks to
ghostfishy : who liked my post I returned here to answer you! Thanks for the post like also

I think video games can help with a lot. You can learn words from it like I did, or you can try out things in games that you can later try out in real life (not shooting people by the way). And it also can make you more creative

juuldude : Oh...its ok no one really takes replies on what I do but. I appreciate you for posting here once again. There are other things you can try out as ghost said. I try not to play too much rpg and go to other ones such as platforms and puzzles. also thanks for the like. ^-^

Interesting...
Although playing video games can improve your smarts, it is possible other factors helped too:

Depending on your disability it is possible that a greater amount of energy/nutrients are being sent to the brain for growth if you don't have as much muscle, if your missing a body part, etc
.
Depending how you were treated, you may have become more independent than the rest of us because you had to learn so much from yourself. You may have had to strive to learn everything you know and so have become smarter and have a better learning potential than others.

Video games definitely assist in learning-development also, but make sure you don't play to much! It can rot your brains and turn you into a zombie!!! (not allll that bad if you ask me)

The reason I have the mental power of a Time Lord is because I play lots of video games. It is true, one of the best professors at Cambridge can confirm that the reason my IQ passes 400 is because I play so many video games.

But in all seriousness, yes, video games sometimes do improve your intelligence on certain things. They obviously improve your hand-eye coordination, but fast-paced games can make your mind quicker and sometimes even make your reflexes faster.
