Okay today I'm going to be reviewing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Turtles in time). This was I want to think the 4th installment in the video game series but I am not sure. Anyway, this was released on the Super Nintendo. So I will be offering my critique of this game. Story : 8 In the Sewers the Turtles are watching TV to see their friend April do her report. As April is doing her report Shredder sends his henchman to steal, of all things the Statue of Liberty. After stealing the Statue of Liberty. Shredder than hacks as well as hijacks all forms of communication to deliver his message. Shredder announces he is taking over and challenges the Turtles to stop him. He also taunts them daring him to stop his army. The Turtles set out defeat Shredder, but are zapped by his time machine. The Turtles must travel in the past as well as the future, and defeat Shredders army to return home and to defeat Shredder. Okay, the story was for the most part good. It seemed like the makers of this game was trying to get creative. By having Shredder steal the Statue of Liberty, take over communication, and use a time machine to stop the Turtles from advancing was really creative. So it was creative. But it just seemed like something was missing in this plot. The game is not really clear why Shredder wanted the statue of Liberty. One could conclude it is to lure the Turtles in a trap or hold the city ransom. I just felt like they could have explained that more. But overall a good story line. Graphics and Controls: 7 The graphics were decent in this game, but to be honest it felt like I was playing an 8 bit system. I really was expecting more considering this game was released on a 16 bit system. Some of the backgrounds looked a little fuzzy for me. I have played several SNES games and most games I have played have really good graphics. In fact, the first game for the NES had better graphics than this. Okay now enough of the negatives. The backgrounds are decent, and they are colorful so that was a nice touch. The game appears to have a few lags, but part of me wants to think that was done on purpose to signal traveling to different points in this game. Since the gimmick is visiting different time zones. But the lags are not really drawn out and it only seems to happen when traveling through different eras. So again probably was done on purpose. The Controls well vary depending on which turtle you use. Leo and Donatello have the best controls. Raphael seems alright but Michael Angelo seems sluggish. I often play with Leo or Donatello because they are my favorite turtles so the controls were not an issue for me. The sprites were also nicely done, even the enemies have nice sprites. Overall the graphics and controls were good just not up to SNES par in my opinion. Sound: 8 The sound is this game is decent. The stage themes are nicely done. The way the enemies sound is decent too. However, what really shines is when the Turtles have their weapons enhanced. The sound of powered up weapons is nice it lets the player know their attacks are doing damage. Also the game lets you know when you pick up pizza for health as it will say Pizza. Also I thought it was nice how the Turtles say Cowabunga after beating a boss. Now, while the sound was good it was missing something. This game is pretty much a beat em up type game. Other beat em up games I have played have had the enemies moan and groan after being knocked out. In this game I did not hear any moaning and groaning. I so wanted to hear moaning and groaning and I thought it would have been a nice touch if the enemies had done that. So, that kind of brings the rating down a little bit. Also believe it or not I really thought the first NES game had better sound. Addictiveness and Depth:7 TMNT in time was a fun game to play and I enjoyed playing this game. Now with that being said, I enjoyed playing the first game better. Still, this is a fun game and should not be overlooked. It is also fun to play through the game with a different turtle. Having a choice to chose a certain turtle adds depth to this game. I often like to play through a different turtle to see how far I can go with that character. There are also some power ups that can be picked up to enhance your weapons for a few seconds. The power ups are quite nice especially since this game likes to throw the kitchen sink at you. I also thought this game was kind of long so be prepared to spend time on this one. Since there is not items to collect in this game that kind of brought the rating down. At the end of the day I give the depth and replay value a good score of 7/10 Difficulty: 9 This game really shines on its difficulty. Compared to the first Turtle game for NES this one is a lot tougher. The bosses are hard and will really test the players reflexes and skill to beat. But, what makes this game so tough is not really the bosses, it is the enemy placement. Unlike the Turtles 1 (NES ) this game loves to surround you with enemies. It is so easy to get surrounded and lose health quick in this game. The first Turtles game had its problem but the enemies did not seem to surround you in that game. Also, this game also likes to get in cheap shots. Enemies will also hit you from behind so the player will have to watch out for that. So players beware this game will challenge you on reflexes and skills to beat. Also you will probably lose health in this game if you are not careful. I like games that test your skill though it makes beating them an accomplishment. As hard as this game is, the game does try to help you out by giving you power ups so that is why this game does not get a 10/10. However, the power ups can be sparse so yeah, this is a tough game to beat. Overall: 8 TMNT in time was released for the SNES In the early 90's. I remember playing the first Turtle game for the NES and it was awesome. The NES game really rocked in its sound and graphics. When I played this game I thought it would be a huge improvement over the first game. To my surprise the first game, had better graphics than this game. I was shocked because I have not played that many games were the NES graphics were better than the SNES game. But that is the case in this game. With that being said, this is a good game and should not be overlooked. I had fun playing this game. I also thought the difficulty was very well done for a beat em up game. The difficulty reminded me of Battle Toads and Streets of rage due to the enemy placement. The difficulty is better than the first NES game. If you can look past the negatives than players will find nothing wrong with this game. As far as recommending this game. I would recommend this game, but I think players should play Turtles One (first NES turtle game) before playing for this one. I give Turtles in time a good rating of 8 out of 10. "In fact, the first game for the NES had better graphics than this."
This is utter insanity.... I question whether you played either game after reading this. Seriously. To claim a game for the NES has better graphics than an SNES game is laughable. I played both games in fact I have them. In my opinion the first NES game had better color and graphics. That is just my opinion maybe it is because I have a vision problem. But I really liked the first Ninja Turtle game. I played it a lot when I got it more then I did the Turtles in Time one |

So you're telling me that you think this:
is better than this: in terms of graphics???? I simply can't imagine how you justify this position. You are entitled to your opinion but I can't fathom how you can to this conclusion. is better than this: in terms of graphics???? I simply can't imagine how you justify this position. geeogree : Yep just my opinion of course. I just like how the first game had color and how it nicely blended it in. The second game had good color too but It just felt like it was missing the charm of the first game. Look how the water just seems to sparkle in the first version and the sewer layout.
