I remember when I got this game as a Christmas gift. Mega Man 7 quickly became my favorite Mega Man game. So I decided to do a review of this great game.
Overall: 10
This game is the best Mega Man game in the classic series. Mega Man 7 was the classic Mega Man series first Super Nintendo game. The jump to the Super Nintendo should have been done after Mega Man 4. The graphics are good, the plot is good, and the music is good. Everything a great game this game has. They are several secrets to unlock in this game which adds to the replay value. Based on how good this game is really earns its 10 rating
Graphics: 10. The graphics of this game are elite from other Mega Man games. Unlike Mega Man 1-6 which used 8 bit graphics, Mega Man 7 uses 16 bit graphics. The backgrounds are so much better compared to its precursors. The colors fit the stages quite nicely. Mega Man's sprints are awesome. Mega Man's shots from his buster are very nice. It reminds me a lot of Mega Man 5's buster which rocked. The weather stage, Freeze Man's stage and Slash Man's stage really show how good the graphics are in this game.
Sound: 10
What can I say the sounds in this game are great. The rocking music is very enjoyable. Freeze Man's, Slash Man's and Turbo's man are my favorite tunes to this game. The beats of the tunes are nicely done. Mega Man's charging sound is nice. When the player charges up Mega Man's buster the humming sound makes me think the shot is going to be powerful. The sound of the buster shot hitting an enemy is very good, the sound makes me think it is doing serious damage. The sound of the robot master weapons are also a nice touch especially the thunder bolt weapon.
Addictiveness: 10
I got this game as I mentioned as a Christmas gift. I have not stopped playing this game it is just that good. I got this game in 1996 and I still play it today. Their are just several things that Mega Man 7 has to offer.
Story: 10
The story is nicely done there is no fake bad guy. I was glad to see that we know from the start that Wily is the bad guy. The fake bad guy plot that Mega Man 4, 5 and 6 had was getting old. Capcom went all the way out on this one. The story flows real smoothly from its precursor Mega Man 6. What I also like about the story line is how after the 8 robot masters are defeated a new twist in the plot occurs. Having a sudden turn of events in a story is sometimes risky, but Capcom made it shine in Mega Man 7
Depth: 10
There are several things this game has to offer. They are two quests in this game that can be unlocked. Mega Man 7 has several secrets and hidden bonuses, something that the other Mega Man games did not have. Mega Man 7 also has its own store were the player can purchase items. The store also known as the item replicator was used in Mega Man IV and Mega Man V for the Game Boy. Mega Man 7 takes a while to beat if you are going to get all items. So there is more than just defeating Robot Masters. A lot of the stages will require revisiting.
Difficulty: 9
Mega Man 7 is more difficult than some of its precursors. Some of the Robot Masters will make one want to scream because they are that difficult. Freeze Man, Slash Man, Turbo Man and Shade man are very difficult. The Items are also difficult and the player will need quick reflexes and skill to get them all. Attaining the secret items is no easy task either as the player has to go through several obstacles to get to them. The Wily stages are very difficult. So unlike Mega Man 4 and 6 this one is quite difficult. However, while the game is difficult it is the enjoyable difficult. What I mean is it is a challenge but in a good way that is fun. I have always liked games that were challenging.
