It is the start of the 3rd quarter, which means that it is time to chose electives for next year. I have 2 elective periods (I think) and I can take 2 full year courses, a full year and 2 half year courses, or 4 half year courses. I can also take an additional full year or half year course if I drop lunch (not going to happen). My school offers a lot of choices. They are:

Art of Film - Learn about film techniques and stuff (Full year)
Business English - Learn about how to write formal letters, do job applications, etc. (Half Year)
Creative Writing - Write stories and stuff (Full Year)
The Perfect Society - I have no idea what it is but it sounds interesting (Half Year)
Public Speaking & Debate - Pretty self-explanatory (Half Year)
Intro to Science Research - Sciencey stuff, lots of people say it is the most boring class ever (Half Year)
Natural Hazards - Volcanoes and tornadoes and earthquakes and stuff (Half Year)
Marine Science - Learn about fish and the oceans and stuff (Half Year)
Meteorology and Climatology - Learn about weather and climate (Half Year)
Astronomy - Learn about space (Half Year)
Forensic Science - CSI type stuff, not for those that don't like blood (Half Year)
Societal Issues & Tolerance - No idea, but just the name puts me to sleep... zzz.... (Half Year)
World History Through Movies - Watch movies (like actual movies, not History Channel stuff) that have to do with history, then take a test on the movie (Half Year)
Anthropology & Archeology - Has to do with artifacts and human past (Half Year)
Psychology - Pretty self-explanatory (Half Year)
Latin - Learn Latin (Full Year)
Studio Art - Basic art stuff (Full Year)
Studio in Video Art - Not sure what you do (Half Year)
Studio in Drawing & Painting - Draw and paint (Full Year)
Studio in Photography - I am assuming that you take pictures of stuff (Half Year)
Studio in Ceramics - Make stuff with clay (Half Year)
Studio in Computer Graphics - Make graphics on the computer using programs like Adobe Illustrator (Half Year)
Fashion and Textile - Yes, this is really offered as a class (Half Year)
Intro to Digital Media Production - Basics of  computer graphics, video editing, and audio production (I am taking it this year) (Full Year)
Audio Production - Pretty self-explanatory (Full Year)
Creative Film - Create, act in, and edit films, and have your film shown at the school's Film Fest (Full Year)
Business Law - Boring, but useful (Full Year)
Sports & Entertainment Marketing - Marketing for sports and entertainment, duh (Full Year)
Cultural Foods - Cook and eat foods from around the world (Half Year)
Mixed Chorus - Regular chorus, anyone can get in (Full Year)
Concert Choir - Singing and dancing, audition required (Full Year)
Symphonic Band - Just regular band (Full Year)
Music Theory - Not really sure (Full Year)
Stagecraft - Learn about what goes on backstage (Full Year)
Theatre Arts - Learn about acting and stuff (Full Year)

Yeah, lots of options. I definitely want to take Creative Film, and I think I want to take Creative Writing too, but I want to get an extra science course in there. I don't want to drop lunch though. The decision for me is really between Creative Writing and a science course (2 actually, since they are half year courses) The science courses I would pick would be Forensic Science and Natural Hazards. What should I pick? Also, what courses would you pick?

wow lot of choices. I would pick Meteorology but I'm biased because I'm a weather forecaster. The said thing is Meteorology has become very political in the past 10 years. Forensics seems like it would be good. Try to pick a course that is close to your major. If you are not a science person. Natural hazards might be a good choice.

I think you should go with Creative Writing and Creative Film, if you're really passionate about that.  But you also need a plan going in.  Know what you want to become and what you want to do, but don't be so rigid that you can't do what your teacher asks you to do.  I'd love to see some sort of comedy sketches worked out by you and maybe your friends.  Also, comedy and poetry are what I specialize in, so if you ever need help with a project, I could give you some advice.

Wow you have a lot of options here, well if it were me, I would take psychology and meteorology as well as astronomy and marine science. Those are just the type of things that I find interesting and that I would take. But it is up to you, I am not really into business stuff that much or anything economic/historic those types of things put me to sleep, I like hands on stuff like mixing chemicals or doing anything science related. If you're anything like me, I would avoid anything with dates to remember and boring history stuff. I would take either meteorology/astronomy/marine science, either one is good in my opinion, so take your pick.  Just go with what you like!

It really all depends on what sounds intriguing to you. Business English sounds extremely useful for anything you want to do later in life, and public speaking and debate would be a really useful class for if you ever need to make other people's opinions line up with yours. Anything spoken in the right way can sound convincing. Forensic science sounds cool, but are you interested in becoming a forensic scientist?

Being a psychologist is a very well paying job, so if you take that class and you're interested in it, you could set yourself up for a good life. Astronomy is really cool and is a field that is advancing fast. If you want to make an impact on the progress of science, astronomy is the way to go. Also, if you want to take Astronomy, an astrophysics class would be a good idea (later, if it is offered).

If you could, you might want to narrow the list down a bit by eliminating choices that you really aren't interested in, and keep ones that you're not so sure about and underline that ones that you're particularly interested in.

You should choose the one you feel best that is good for you. And that resembles any of your talents that you have....but, if you want help choosing I say you should go for business english and the one you chose which was creative writing. I'm sure you will be able to pick something that suites you well, I believe so. ^-^

Back when I was in school didn't have all of this.

I would pick the science course over the English elective. From experience, creative writing courses in high schools focus too broadly and teach unnecessary material (especially if you've only joined the class to focus on one work).

Science courses are always interesting and those particular two sound really fun like they're enjoyable classes.

Of course, if you plan to major in English, then English > Science.

I would take Astronomy, Studio in Photography, Marine Science, and Audio Production. They sound so fun!

If only my school had offered those...

Take classes that are applicable to real life and will help you succeed in your chosen career.

I'd automatically take any business writing classes, business math classes, and communication classes because the ability to write and speak will put you far ahead of your otherwise equal peers.

Ranked in no special order, focus on these ones:
Business English
Public Speaking
Business Law
Sports Marketing
Forensic Science

I would honestly choose classes that would benefit your future in someway. Creative Writing and Film are good choices if you're into those kinds of courses but I would try to broaden your horizons a bit. Forensic Science is an interesting course but it can be very technical. Natural Hazards might be a good class but its all about personal preference.. (I'm actually kinda disappointed that there's no Chemistry elective... Chemistry is actually really fun... but that's just my opinion.)

As for classes I would take:
Business English (Very beneficial!)
Astronomy (Just a biased opinion... Plus it can get interesting)
Forensics
Latin (This one is a stretch... but it might help later if you take a class that has a lot of Latin roots, suffixes, prefixes etc.)

And just a general question but cant you go to your guidance counselor (I'm assuming that's who takes care of schedules and such) and ask for a schedule change if you do not like a certain class?

angelbear1297 : There is no chemistry elective because ALL 10th graders have to take chemistry. I can get a schedule change, but I would rather avoid the trouble, and they may not even let me change it.

You should definitely choose Creative Writing and creative Film. I excel at both, and, from what I've seen and heard from you, you would, too. Also, chances are, it would be funner than the rest; there is nothing like creativity.
