Note: This was intended to be a flash fiction story (so pardon the lack of various story elements) but I decided to extend it due to some positive feedback I had. This is my first attempt at Sci-Fi so I would like a fresh eye to look over my work and see where I could improve so I can move on and look over at the next four chapters I've written. Please and thank you! And now, without further ado...




Rose was no longer the human that she had once been. Her estranged father abducted her from her apartment and took her to a secret, underground lab owned by the now defunct US government. The government turned her into an eel-like creature with a craving for human flesh. She already devoured one hapless human that had dared approach her in her cell. The human was her father's worker, an associate, and he had paid dearly with his life. She planned on doing the same to her father. The young, eel-like woman returned to her watery home, which was a large tank, filled with a strange liquid. She sank into the dark, watery abyss and waited with sharp, red eyes for the next fool to arrive.

Elsewhere, a male with a condition similar to Rose's was causing massive havoc. He killed two men near his cell and ate one alive (who turned out to be Rose's father). The eel-like humanoid broke out of his cell and started wandering around the dark lab. He intended on killing every last human there was for turning him into a science project. The humanoid later arrived at another cell. Lee killed the remaining guards and broke into the cell. Rose, sensing the disturbance, rose to the surface of her tank and hissed in displeasure. Instinctively, Lee did the same and would have attacked if he hadn't realized that there was a female with him.

The two strange creatures stared at each other, sizing each other up. The female got out of her tank, her nude, pale body covered in a thick, gooey liquid and gills exposed. She was no longer aggressive, just curious...curious about the male before her. The male was just as curious about the female. He hissed at her. He could only hiss as a form of verbal communication after losing his vocal cords. Rose understood and hiss backed gently in greeting.

Lee (the male creature) had lost most of his vocal cords due to his long imprisonment in the lab. He had been abducted and brought there ten years ago. He had maintained his youth as a result of the experiment, but developed gills on his face and legs and webbed hands. The male finished his tale as Rose, who still had her vocal cords, related her story and of her desire to take her revenge upon her father.

(He's dead.) Lee said telepathically.

"Dead?"

(I ate him. He won't harm us anymore.)

Rose purred at the thought. No other innocent human would be harmed. Lee invited her to join him in his escape and she accepted. In a hidden room within the lab, a dark figure observed the two humanoids interaction through a security camera. Everything was going according to his plan.

"Now," it said. "Time for them to mate."
