Hello I am MechaMento and I am focusing on the racing simulation masterpiece Forza Motorsport 4. When I was building up my videogame collection on the Video Game Room I was going through floods of memories of games I love. When I set up my 3DS to take a picture of my Forza Motorsport 4 case it reminded me the days where I would be rather addicted. So that brings me here where I can share my experiences and opinions with you with one and one topic only. Forza Motorsport 4. Why I Played This When I first got my Xbox 360, which was only 2 or 3 years ago, it came with a bundle including the previous title Forza Motorsport 3. I loved that game to bits, I had an unstoppable addiction! The game may be going around a race track a few times and then doing it again but on a different circuit, but there was something special about this as is Forza Motorsport 4. So after a year of owning the game, and playing it everyday, the European release of Forza Motorsport 4 was rapidly approaching so that game was preserved for the top of my birthday wishlist! From that I have loved it since the first day I brought it and I still play it now, so from here onwards this is where the real reviewing begins! Graphics Turn 10 are one of those companies that will not put up with a single pixel out of place. The amount of hours, detail and effort that was put in to developing every single car is astonishing. The Auto-Vista mode is described as HHD visual quality. For those of you who have not played Forza Motorsport 4, Auto-Vista mode is almost like a car gallery. You The environment of the circuit is complete to an amazing standard, the circuit "Maple Valley" in France really does look beautiful. Turn 10 were certainly not lazy on any of the cars either, they were completed and completed to work the console hard (so much that it can freeze my Xbox 360 if I have been playing it for too long). Even the cars that everyone hates, like the Nissan Micra, are made to look real and real is what Turn 10 want. One of Turn 10's aims and quotes was to "Turn car fans into to gamers and also turn gamers into car fans." so they need to get the game to a real life setting the best they can (also with out blowing up the Xbox 360). Sound Again alike to the graphics Turn 10 want their sound engine to be perfect. How did they do? Fantastic! Every single engine has their own personality. A Jaguar engine will sound different to a Ferrari engine, as would I make a similar example with two different manufacturers. Turn 10 did not just settle there. Turn 10 wanted every sound to be crisp and smooth for the player to have a realistic experience. I do not want to sound big headed and braggy but I own a surround sound device and playing Forza Motorsport 4 with the speakers active really is a treat! The Car engine quality and personality is not where the good sound stops. Turn 10 have a good list of tracks and a decent taste of music. I personally like the Music even though the genres are very similar and it does not include anything from my favourite artists The Chemical Brothers (you will have to wait until Forza Horizon for that though). I actually find my self stamping my feet while driving and there was a point where I went into the game settings to mute the car engine and only have the music playing! Addictiveness and Depth This is one of those games you can not put down, since there is so much this game can offer. After completing the long yet enjoyable Career mode there is Xbox Live online racing you can move onto. Competing against the world live is fun yet eventually you get bored, but wait! You can start playing rivals, where you compete against ghost data in competitive Challenges, tension building Time Trials. Also there are side modes like Auto-Vista, the Storefront and the Auction House. Hang on I forgot to mention there is many online game modes including Tag and Car Football (a spin-off of a challenge in an episode of Top Gear). This game I would never through away, even when I get Forza Motorsport 92 it will stay in my game collection for ever! Review my Review It is helpful to know what went well and what did not. I am wanting to always improve my reviews so please throw in any criticism. I will be happy with any response or tips, I do not judge any users! Side notes I also want to play this online so if any of you fellow vizzed members are willing to join me and compete, my gamertag is ultimatedoomboy. I am from England so do not blame me if it says I was online at 4 in the morning!! I own Forza Motorsport 2, and I have to say that that game is HARD. I've tried the demo for Forza 4, and loved the new graphics and tighter controls. I'll stick with Project Gotham Racing 4 at the moment, though. I like PGR's accessibility, although I can't deny that Forza has better games, in general. I may give Forza Motorsport 4 a try if it goes on sale sometime on the Xbox store. |

supernerd117 : Yeah you often get the odd free game with Xbox Live Gold. I got Fable III through that, it is a great game and people still play multiplayer even when Forza Horizon is out. I got horizon and I regret it!! |

MechaMento : Why is that? Is it because there a lack of online multiplayer? Or perhaps a lack of people on servers? |

supernerd117 : Horizon was too different, it was not for me and not right for over people. I did not enjoy it overall and when I went back to playing Forza 4 there was a lot of gamers online. The game Tag (Virus) is fun and one of the most popular. You go around chasing other people in your car. I wish more people played car football. By the way I have PGR 4, though there is no one online. I am not really that much of a fan of the physic engines, I like forza's realistic ones. Yeah, I have to agree there. It is quite a bit less realistic, but I kind of liked that about it. My favorite racing game at the moment (aside from Kart-like racers) is Burnout Paradise. The game proceeds at your own pace, and has an open-world environment. Its physics engine is nothing short of amazing. Crashes are rendered in terrific detail, and it's fun to try and set up crashes to see what happens. Its multiplayer is a bit bare-bones, though. I absolutely love how your review has sparked a whole conversation. I'm not sure if this is the first review I've read by you or not, but I was pretty impressed. I think my favorite part, as odd as it may sound, was the part where you explained "Why I Played This". I don't ever recall someone taking the time to justify their choice of games, and it really added a personal touch to your review that set the whole tone. Thank you for the hard work, and for offering something refreshing! I'm not sure if this is the first review I've read by you or not, but I was pretty impressed. Singelli : I am glad you enjoyed reading this, when ever you did. I get flooded with notifications because I do a lot of content adding to game pages so I wake up to 54 at the most. Most of them are just tRiune accepting the content but I do get the odd reply to post or thread which brought me here! Yeah I added the why I played this game really to extend my reviews, but it is also fun to write (well type) about. This review is truly amazing with the way it started up conversation like this. It is truly amazing. Though it may not be realistic, I think that is the awesome, unique part about it. I enjoyed reading this review, you have good detail all around, a nice introduction and good solid information and thoughts in each paragraph of your review. I think 932 words is a job well done. And believe it or not, the more you review, that number will double! So keep up the phenomenal work and keep making more awesomely made reviews. I enjoyed reading this! Believe it or not I think this is the first review, (let alone a great one!) about an xbox game! |
