When selecting the number of players, I am only allowed to choose between 1 and 4. If the choice was only 1, then I would tend to believe it's because only one controller is connected. Am I doing something wrong? I was testing it out while getting ready to start a NetPlay session. I don't want to create a session unless I know I can control the game.

N64 doesn't work with Netplay anyway so it isn't really an issue.

tgags123 : I didn't know that. That's fine except on its RGR page there is an option to "Click here to start a new Netplay session". Also, when setting the options for a Mario Kart 64 session (or any game session), under Number of Players it says "The only 2 systems which currently support more than 2 players are Super Nintendo (up to 8) and Nintendo 64 (up to 4)".

If N64 doesn't work with Netplay then why even make Netplay sessions an option on those pages?

Just did a little research before submitting this reply...from the Netplay Discussion thread, Davideo7 to DrinkoDing on 04-08-13 "We use Kaillera for N64"

So, you can only choose between one and four players? No two and three, if I am getting this right. That shouldn't be a problem. Just plug select one for one player, and four for anywhere between 2 and 4.

Also, make sure all the players are connected before starting the game up. Nintendo 64s don't allow you to plug in controllers after the system is on. Same with the emulators.

I have problems with this game. Often this game to slow down and do not understand why this happens. I like to play more games with Mario especially wonderful game but I have the opportunity to play as I want. Why this game to slow down? Who can help me please?

So I see two conflicting answers on the Netplay issue with this game. I'm curious to know which one is correct - the one where it says that Netplay doesn't work for N64 games, or the one where it says it does.

The thing is, I have a problem with the Netplay for Mario Kart 64. When I start a session or join one (someone else who wanted to play with me has this problem too), the game never loads. It will always try to, then it will come up with a "Timeout error" then say "Emulation closed." Can someone tell me why it does this? I would love to play this game with other people, it is kind of boring just playing with computers all the time.

This isn't completely true...netplay DOES work with N64.

However, its very laggy and desyncs frequently.
I would probably say unplayable rather than saying it doesn't work...
