First of all, before I start this review, I want to give a big shout-out to my friend tgags123 for telling me all about this game in it's enitirety! It is quite a pleasure for me to review another Pokemon game and that is great! But anyways, what we are looking at here is what appears to be a remake of Pokemon emerald, and so it begins, This is Pokemon aquamarine for the Game boy advance.
Story-7/10 Like most pokemon games, the main story behind this one is that you have just moved into the busy town of littleroot, so then your mom is telling you to get ready and make new friends and find new pokemon to capture, the adventure has so much pokemon that is really hard to keep track of them! But yeah, that is pretty much the story, so then you begin your quest to have fun in littleroot and get as much stuff as you could possibly can.
Gameplay-8/10 Gameplay in pokemon aquamarine is much like other pokemon titles in the past, you start the whole game off by choosing a boy or a girl, and then you pick a name for them, then the fun starts. Your mom then has you meeting professor birch, you then have your first battle with a trainer, and this is really where it kicks in! After all of this you can finally start capturing pokemon and using them for battle! At the beginning of the game you can either pick between squirtle, bulbasaur, or charmimander. The controls are pretty simple for a pokemon game, you use the D-pad to move, you press the A button to perform certain actions, And once your mom gives you the running shoes, then the game will let you press B in order to dash at high-blazing speeds. Oh yeah, after you beat may, you can finally start capturing pokemon! In order to capture them, you will have to dig through the bushes in the town then you will be confronted by them, then you will have to fight them! To capture them you must select poke-balls from your backpack then you can keep them! Leveling up your pokemon is pretty easy, everytime you engage in battle you must pick out any of your pokemon then once you defeat the stray pokemon, then you will earn experience points! After a certain level, then your pokemon will grow stronger and stronger and stronger until they can defeat all the other pokemon in about one or two hits! The game has a bunch of special badges that you can get for completing certain good deeds, each locale also has it's own Pokemon p.c or poke-mart, at pokemon p.c you can let your pokemon rest thus letting them all get full health, and at the poke-mart you can buy stuff like potions, poke-balls, etc. Anyways, that is it for the gameplay!
Graphics-9/10 For a remake of an already good game, this looks even better! As you should know, the town of littleroot is very big, busy, and packed with other places to explore, making up for a pretty big town! But anyways, all the levels you will be exploring are big, colorful, and bursting with atmosphere! As for the characters, they look pretty good as well! Your boy/girl that you pick at the start of the game looks good, and the game is packed and I say PACKED with a tons of different pokemon, legendary pokemon, and other stuff to keep you busy! The HUD in each battle is pretty self explanatory, your pokemon is on the bottom, your rival is in the front, and next to you and your opponent is you and your opponent's amount of health, once your health is gone, you are dead, or vice versa, if your opponent's health is gone, then they are dead and thus you win the match! This has got to be the best looking pokemon game yet!
Sound-8/10 The soundtrack in this game is marvelous, This is once again another good job from Junichi masuda, the main guy behind the pokemon soundtrack! But anyways, all of the songs in each level really fit the mood well and sound very bright happy and cartoony, happy to say that most of these songs have actually made it into smash bros brawl! But let's hope that some more of them are put into the next smash bros for 3DS/Wii U! The sound effects are your typical pokemon fare, you get beeps, sparkles, boings, and a bunch of other pokemon stuff. I hope junchi doesn't abandon nintendo! Cause he is doing great as the main composer for the games!
Addictiveness-9/10 Is this game fun? Is this game worth playing over and over again? Is this game worth all your life and time? Well the answer is, YES YES AND YES! The game offers so much pokemon, so much replay value, so many badges that is really hard to explain in words how much there is to do in this game! Man this is one of those games where you wonder to yourself, how did they manage to put all of this into package? I really adore this game.
Depth-9/10 Like I said, the game offers alot of stuff to collect and do, badges, pokemon, and a bunch of other stuff to collect! The game is a pretty long one as well, It will probably take you 8 hours to get through the whole game! And that is alot of time if you ask me. Well you know, every pokemon game has a bunch of stuff to do!
Difficulty-7/10 This game is not really that hard if you ask me, I mean some pokemon trainers can really cream me easily, but that is for the sake of it! The game is made by nintendo, so the game is supposed to be challenging or else this game would just be a game for little kids! And I am pretty sure people of all ages enjoy pokemon.
Overall-9.7/10 First of all, I want to give a bigshout to tgags123 for making this amazing game and requesting me to play it! I mean whoever thought that a remake of an already amazing game could be so good! I gave this game a 9.7 because how much it offers for you to do and collect! Anyways, this has been RedHotToddy, and I am out!
