http://www.citynews.ca/2013/07/22/dog-abandoned-on-scarborough-balcony-for-days-without-food-water/ so I was watching the news and up came this story.
now yes I'm going in to an angry rant, why? because It's always the friken pit bulls.
I'm sick, nobody ever does a thing when it's a pit bull. they aren't demons they're sweet babies
I would know I owned one. so why is it everyone treats them like that, they're leaving the
poor baby for dead because nobody likes pit bulls. why does nobody like them? because there's been lots of times they attack people but they aren't the only breed who attacks people every breed of dog can attack a person. so why is it they're the only ones who get this kind of treatment IT MAKES ME SO SICK, I want to cry. “When I personally contacted the SPCA…(I was told) it was a non-emergency,” Non emergency my butt, the dog has been without food and water for 4 days and it's dying. SPCA are a service meant to help animals no matter what, yet everytime it's a pit bull they just sit on their butts and do nothing at all.

crazycatpup : I'm not an animal psychologist nor do I claim to have any credentials on the issue. I don't even know if I should be commenting at all, actually, but I have a couple of thoughts and I want to share. No harm in doing that, right?

Anyways, the only reason I can think that pit bulls have such a stigma is because they seem to be one of the easiest breeds of dogs to make aggressive, and certainly one of the strongest breeds there are. I like pit bulls, personally, and apparently was able to hang off one's ears as a child without any repercussions. However, it seems like they are the most popular choice for dog fighting and the like, and people are pretty easy to fly off the handle about dangerous animals, for whatever reason. Do you know if an aggressive pit bull is more difficult to have its behavior reversed than any other breed of dog? That would be interesting to know.

I'm sorry this upsets you, and I hope that people will rid this stigma of the dog once and for all.

pray75 : it doesn't really depend on the breed, it's the dog itself. any dog can be difficult or easy to have it's behavior reversed. it is never ever just the 1 breed of dog, any dog can be bad or good it just takes the right person.

It is really about how they are raised. I love a pit bull. I love bull dogs. They are two of the most loyal breeds out there. I actually am considering getting one of them for my medium sized dog that I want to get. But, it's a stereotype because of how they are portrays, and it is messed up. I agree. 

crazycatpup : Bad owners or owners who want them as there hardcore flesh eating pets are usually the reason to blame for pitbull attacks anyways so it's really not there fault.

its all bad owners  fault...lol i had one and he was so friendly he loved strangers ....my mom dog hates everyone except her

It's rarely ever the dog's fault things happen, 9 times out of 10 it's the owner's fault. I've seen numerous breeds that were "dangerous" to humans. I go up to it, and it's rolling on it's stomach wagging it's tail waiting for me to pet it. Examples: Boxer, Pit bulls, German Shepard's especially, those are normally bred for "Defensive" modes of the house and it's owners or local law enforcement.

But if you go up to some of them they are just the sweetest things. Cats are the same way. 

In the end if a fight breaks out between pets. It's the owners fault, you should be able to gauge how an animal is going to react just by a few simple moves/actions of said pet.

This is just really unfair and really cruel. There are several other breeds of dog that are known for attacking people. And I got upset when I read about the SPCA part, that just sucks, oh sure when it is a golden retriever or some other dog breed it matters, but since it happens to be a pitbull then it really doesn't matter or count as an emergency. I think it is all in how you raise the dog that will determine if it is violent or not. I am sorry to hear this, it is always the sucky owner's fault for abusing their pets, I hate seeing animals get abused because of stupid people,I see commercials on it all the time and I hate it.


So I am sorry about this and I definitely think that they can be really nice and they shouldn't be falsely accused and stereotyped as violent and just ignored in an emergency. I am sorry that this upset you.

I know this topic is old, but I really want to post this. I really don’t understand why some cities ban pit-bulls, I think that sounds really stupid. It’s not the dog’s fault, it’s more of the owner, the owners should be banned more than the dogs.

crazycatpup : I love Pits they are the most awesome friends a person can have, the reason they get a bad rap sheet is because people fight them and train them to be evil and mean, where as I turn mine in to a pillow and my best friend Etna is a blue nosed pit that will lick your face off, her bark is bigger than her bite, though some of my friends she doesn't like for some reason but she is so cool and big and a cuddle buddy for life

I think people treat them like this because all of them heard about a dog attack and guess who is the attacker, the pit bull, the cute and innocent pit bull! All dogs act agresivelly because of their horrible past where the "boss" always beats them when they do bad things! But it isn't the pitbull's fault, it is the "boss'" fault!

The dogs must be everytime protected and educated and treated with love, love and love!
