My favorite Mario Kart power up item is the lighting it does get on my nerves when I miss them or somebody throws something at me right when I get that power up because then I lose.. every time that doesn't happen I have a better chance at winning 2nd place if not 1st or anything else which is always a plus in my opinion.

My favorite power up is the three turtle shells since they will knock off anyone who tries to bump into me. I almost said bananas since they're so effective against the orange shells. I despise bullet bill since it keeps the worst of players in the game and sometimes puts users unfairly ahead in tough competition. I've seriously considered just waiting behind a few seconds in a highly competitive race to get bullet bill since it has put me and others in third place before without any effort.

My friend got Mario Kart: Double Dash! for Christmas, so we've been playing it a lot together. I can say that Double Dash probably has the best items due to the specials. Bowser's Shell is really cool, the Golden Mushroom's first appearance is really cool, and the Chain Chomp is probably the coolest of all. I choose the Chain Chomp as my favorite item.

The Heart allows you to avoid getting hit by things three times AND whatever you get hit with turns into that item which you can use.

There are so many choose from. I like the red shell because, well... Red Shell. 
I also liked the blue spiked shell from Double Dash... I could win a race in under a minute and a half if I got it within the first 2 laps of the Baby's track. 
And Bullet Bill from the Wii... ugh. Such a hard choice.
