For those who played the first star fox, you may have had the fortune (or misfortune, as it scared the crap out of me.... I wasn't the bravest child) of finding the hidden level called "out of this dimension". This level has a background consisting of planets with faces that will randomly distort themselves, the enemies are random white things that I can really make out. The boss is a slot machine that will spurt out coins. At the end letters will pop up that you can shoot. These letters form the credits, and "THE END". This level, besides leaving the implication that it is out of this dimension, has a darker undertone. Before we accompany fox on his... psychedelic trip, general pepper tries to reach fox. We can hear (or read?) general pepper say "fox, where are you going? We need you to help protect corneria!" This leaves the implication that andross attacks corneria while fox leaves. I find it depressing to think that fox can hear the pleas for help, and yet he stays in the zone. We all know that fox will do whatever he can for the space system, so why does he stay? I can only think of one possible outcome.
Fox is dead. You access out of this dimension by running straight into an enemy, and then you are brought to the level. Before the level starts, you can hear the members of the team constantly asking for help, this leaving the implication that the star fox team is losing the fight, and they are struggling to survive. Fox then runs into that enemy and dies, though since we are following fox in this adventure, we don't see him die. We don't hear a ship explode because fox wouldn't hear it, we wouldn't hear the cries of his team members because fox wouldn't hear it. General pepper is asking for help, and fox doesn't respond because he is dead. Out of this Dimension may be some out of body experience fox has as a result from the damage to him.
What are your opinions on the level? And what are some theories you may have?
