So, at 27 years old ive been dealing with chronic neck and back pain for the last two years. I woke up one morn for work one morning and felt destroyed! I had intense burning through my shoulders and neck, along with crippling pain through my arms and legs and from my head to the bottom of my spine. I haven't been able to work since then, I tried to go back, but after about a month I had to throw in the towel. Which hurt like hell because I worked hard to get the job I had and I loved it. So after this, I started seeing a doctor and instantly I was put on narcotics and it was pure hell until about a month ago. I crashed my car into a tree once and had to be revived on the way to the first hospital and then I was rushed to another hospital because my lungs, chest and heart was bruised so badly. Another major thing that happened besides hurting my family the whole time, and this one was a big eye opener and the rock bottom for me was, I overdosed on a medicine about a month ago and ended up in the ER. One min I was playing my 360 the next I was in the ER because I had a grand mal seizure.  So ive been clean and sober since then, and I'm feeling fantastic besides the pain that I have to deal with daily. I got myself a ton of help after the last incident and I'm into a good pain clinic, and I go for my first spinal injection Wednesday. I feel like I felt back before the narcotics except now I have memories of going through hell! Anyway, life is good, I have a 4 year old daughter and a wife of 7 years, and I'm a very lucky man!  Anyway feel free to share your stories or leave some comments!!!!

I personally have never had any chronic pain like you have experienced.
The most pain I have had is from back ache, neck ache or in some cases muscle pain from to much strenuous activity.

However I do care for a family member that has chronic pain in her legs, she finds it very hard to do day to day thing.
Getting up each morning is a challenge for her, so when I'm not working I devote my time to seeing to her needs.
She has been in and out of hospital many times for the pain, all the Dr does is prescribe her more pain medication.

But despite her pain, she lives a happy life.
I'm glad I'm able to help her as much as I can, so that she can feel like this on a day to day basis.

Kingnothing2010 : I was born physically disabled and I can relate to dealing with pain chronically on a daily basis. Admittedly a big part of my problem is that I didn’t do what I was supposed to do when I was younger. (I hated, and kind of still do hate the idea of exercising due to the pain I would be in during and afterwards.) It’s something I still resist doing but the older you get, the harder it gets. My disability affects the strength of my legs and my back. So I deal with back pain daily and leg cramps as well. Some days are not as bad as others but there are some days where I really don’t want to get out of bed.

In some ways it doesn’t help that I am a writer and spend a good majority of my time either sitting behind my desk or sitting behind a mini desk on my laptop. I’m not in denial about it though. I know that it starts and ends with me. It’s just a matter of getting it in my mind that I need to do what I have to do in order to be better off. I haven’t totally got to that point yet but what I have started doing in between my writing is I began researching ways of exercising without the pain. One thing that has sparked my interest a little is yoga. I have to do a little more research before I attempt it but from what I have read and heard it does work for people who do it. I’m still on the fence about it but if it takes pain out of the equation and I can get myself in shape then I will be all for it.

The best advice I can give you is to simply research on how to deal with pain. Knowledge is power my friend. I am trying to make up for the mistakes I made when I was a kid. One thing that doing research periodically has done for me is at the very least educate me a little and give me potential alternatives to just doing the standard practice.
