Starting in April 2013, we will have our very own Bible Trivia Viz Contest. This will be done once every month. Competitors can earn 50 Viz for each day that you answer a question and will have a chance to win 10,000 Viz for the month.
Purpose: To learn and have fun with knowing facts in the Bible and as another tool of familiarizing with the Bible more. Sometimes contests like these would help you notice things that you haven't noticed before when reading the Bible.
1. Every beginning of the month, I will create a new thread under the subforum "Bible Trivia Contest". These threads will have the month written on them, indicating which month it belongs to. There will be a new question posted on the thread EVERYDAY AT 12:00 AM EST/9:00 PM PST. The links to all of the days WILL BE ON THE FIRST POST OF THE THREAD, which leads you to the forum post that has the the link to the quiz as well as an updated scoreboard of all those who participate. These questions will have a HUGE number in front to indicate which day the question belongs.
2. (VERY IMPORTANT) Accessing the quiz link Each "day post" will have an introductory comment that leads into the question. Click on the quiz link for that day. You will be brought to a page asking for your registration. PLEASE put your first name (or a fake first name) in the "First Name" field and your Vizzed username in the "Last Name" field. You can also put your Vizzed username in the "username" field, but if it doesn't work, just pick something else. The main thing is to type in your Vizzed username in the last name so I can identify you in the results. For future days, if you have ALREADY registered, please type in your login for future questions. The intro comment will appear again with a start button on the bottom. Once you clicked the start button, your question of the day will appear and you will have 60 seconds to answer the question. If you don't answer in time, it would be considered "incomplete" and you won't earn any points. After hitting submit, you would see a page that says that you have submitted an answer and will thank you for doing so. Your response and the question will appear on the screen just to remind you about your answer. Once you checked everything, click "close and log out"
3. The scoring goes like this: Every question has a base score of 60 points. When you answer the question, your score is based on how long it takes for you to answer the question. For every second that passed, one point is lost from the base score. If you get the question incorrectly, you get the negative amount. For example, if you answered a question 27 seconds after the time that you started the quiz, you get 60 - 27 = 33 points. If you get it wrong, you get -33 points.
4. Questions may include "Fill in the Blanks", "multiple choice", "put in order", "What is wrong with this picture", "True or False", etc. These questions are not just scripture questions, but also Bible-related questions, meaning the questions may not necessarily be stuff that you find in the Bible, but it is about the Bible. I will try TRY my very best of not including theological questions, but there are certain things that Bible and theology may overlap, so it might be possible.
5. As of right now, the default setting for all of these competitions are "No Bible References allowed". This means that you cannot use your Bibles, reference materials relating to the Bible, or any online searching to find the answer. That may change from month to month depending on how I design the trivia questions on that month. I may also just post the related verse if it is necessary for me to do so.
6. Relating to the previous points, this contest is done through an honor system. Whatever rules that are applied onto the trivia that I can't personally control, you are to do so truthfully. This IS a Christian forum and honesty and integrity is highly emphasized here. Don't abuse it.
7. You only get ONE attempt. Once you clicked the "send" button, those answers will be your final answers. If my tracker indicates a double entry, the person will automatically be DISQUALIFIED.
8. When the day is over, I will post the answer and an explanation of the answer as well as a tally of the scores so far. Then I will post the new question for the next day. Viz would be transferred to each person who answered after the next question is posted.9. Sabbath Question Making Rule. This is for myself. The first time I did these contests, I was a little overwhelmed by how I need to make sure that I get a question ready every day. I think it would be nice for me to have a time of rest and have a day to not worry about making questions so that I won't overwork myself. So starting the June competition, I will be making questions everyday except for Sunday. 10. The competition ends when the time period for answering the last question ends (For example, for January, the competition ends on February 1st, 12:00 am Eastern time, or January 31st, 9:00 pm Pacific Time). 11. The person with the highest score in the thread wins. DUH! I will automatically send the 10,000 Viz to the winner.12. If the highest score has a tie, I will record all the users with that score and assign a number on them based on the order of posting, and then I will use a random number generator to pick a number. The user who has their number called 3 times is the winner of that month.13. Don't worry. The way I will be planning to design these questions will be as interesting as possible, so you won't get bored with them. Some of these may require you to THINK like the question and not just based on your knowledge of the Bible. I may even switch up some of the scoring or change the question format just to make it interesting.I encourage everyone to participate. No matter if you are a Christian or a non-Christian, you should give it a shot and see how much you actually know about the Bible. It'll be fun and you can never say that you know enough about the Bible. Besides, it's a shot of winning 10,000 Viz per month. You'll never win if you don't try. First one starts on April 1st, 12 am EST. [Last updated 5/30/2013. Subject to change]
