Who was the best Doctor on the SciFi show Doctor Who?

For me it's between the 10th Doctor (David Tennant) and the 4th Doctor (Tom Baker), but the 10th Doctor was the best.

9th was pretty good though.

I have to agree, David Tennant just did it right! I never saw the early doctors, unfortunately; Netflix expired just before I could try watching early episodes. Actually, I think they only had the movie forms of Doctors and none of the very early episodes. I only started watching when the new series started.

When 9 changed, I first disliked David Tennant, but he soon grew on me. I was sad to see him go when the 11th doctor started up. Still, Matt did an all right job and had a very likable crew of people too, but it felt like the series was starting all over again... understandable I suppose with the way number 10's finale was.

David Tennant = Perfecto!
If I had to go with a 2nd place it would have to have been the 4th doctor
Who doesn't like that pimping scarf?
Well he's better than the new doctor that is to say the least.

I loved Christopher Eccleston, and when he changed I did not like David Tennet at all. But about halfway through the first episode I started to really get into him and now he's my favorite Doctor of all. Of course,  I loved Tom Baker from the old series though. He and his Jellybabies....

I think the change from Eccleston to Tennet hit almost everyone the same. Eccleston was freaking great, and I (like pretty much everybody) was not liking the change. But after about 2 episodes, I was on the Tennet train. He was absolutely amazing at that role. I tried liking the 11th Doctor. But the more I watched it, the less I liked him. I don't know. It just doesn't even feel like the same show, and I just am not a fan of him. I wish we could have had more seasons with David Tennet.

In all honesty its between Tom and Colin.

I love all the doctors don't get me wrong but there is just something about them I prefer.

Tom in his earlier stories were brilliant. It is a shame that he go up on his high horse and refused to dismount.

Colin is a wonderful actor and very intelligent man. It is a great shame for him and Sylvester that the writers really let them down.
Both actors had great potential.

The character that Colin player however is to be very frank one of my favourites.
I love the brash doctor and I love that he is unpredictable and willing to break is own rules.
It is nice to see a good guy on the line for a change.
Normally, even now, we don't see the doctor quiet at the stage that he was in that unsettle regeneration.
And I really like that.

For sure the 10th Dr.

David Tennant made it so much more watchable in my opinion.

He just had that spark about his acting that drew me in, best Dr Who of the modern day I think.

The tenth doctor.
David really got the role right, but before I was kinda sad the ninth doctor had to regenerate, and Didn't really like David as much as Eccleston at first, but after a couple of episodes I started to like him more than Eccleston.

Hey there! .. How are you? I'm great,

I'm glad I noticed this Poll. It's a good question that I really want to answer.

My favourite Doctor(s) have to be the 10th and 11th doctors. David & Matt. They're both amazing doctors and really deserve credit for their acting skills and their performances in the series'. They're both extremely funny and really good laugh, I can watch them for hours. Sadly, one of the doctors have left (David) and Matt is leaving this Christmas. Tragic Loss. I will always remember their work, simply because it is/and always will be amazing!

My ultimate favourite of them both has to be David though. He wore converse, and that's enough to make you love him.

Every one voted for Tennant.
Only one classic Doctor was voted for (aside from my vote, I voted for 2 for the sole reason of his facial expressions)
Personally, I didn't even like Tennant that much.

I've had a recent change in feelings about my favorite Doctors.

My main favorite Doctor is Matt Smith (11), and my second favorite Doctor is Colin Baker (6).

David Tennant.
Way better than the11th!
I never saw the old ones though.
Matt is a good actor but I don't like his personality for the doctor.

One of my favorite Doctor Who scenes in recent years is the scene where the Doctor is infected by a virus that implants an evil alternate personality into his mind, and the Doctor randomly glitches between his good and bad sides. Why? Because he plays a game of chess against his evil side, with the idea being that the Doctor's friends will die if the Doctor loses the game to his evil side. While I was watching this scene, I couldn't help but feel reminded of a famous scene from Sonic OVA: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MiEwmiPSmto
LOL, it really does sound like something the Doctor would say.

I voted for 4th Doctor Tom Baker. I find that his episodes always had me interested (unlike the more resent series). I do like all the Doctors apart from 6 :/ He just bored me to be honest.

The 8th Doctor (Paul McGann) is the best (mainstream) Doctor! He is seriously underrated. He actually is the longest Doctor and also the shortest, and he has the most episodes (audio). If you have not watched the Doctor Who movie where he shows up, you are missing out.

For the non-mainstream Doctor, I pick the Valeyard Doctor.

I like the 11th actually. Matt Smith is a really good actor. His Doctor was awesome! My second choice would be probably the 10th. I really like all of them, but I'm picking the first ones I saw.

I've only seen the ninth, tenth and eleventh doctors as of now, so I can't judge the others either way, but of the three I've seen, David Tennant's portrayal of the Doctor is my favorite. I think he does a really great job of capturing a huge variety of the Doctor's complex character with the tremendous range of emotion he shows. His Doctor is quirky and funny, but also retains a lot of the ninth Doctor's seriousness and of course, still the weight of the Time War. It's fascinating how it is shown that he deals with the losses of so many companions, and of the Master, and then there's the Timelord Victorious episode when he just sort of snapped... And it's heartbreaking to watch him go through that, leading up to in the end of course, the tragic line "I don't want to go!" I didn't want him to go either. Ever since his Doctor quoted The Lion King during the Christmas invasion, David Tennant's has been my favorite Doctor, and I'm looking forward to seeing him again in the 50th.

Finally, for all you new (and classic) Whovians, here bridges the classic and new Doctor Who. It features... major spoilers!
Really, major major spoilers! So excited for the 23rd and 25th(25th for the 3D IMAX theater showing). Pretty awesome. Happy Birthday, Doctor of the actor!
