I thought I had seen everything when I played the first Streets of Rage. I thought it would not get better then that. I decided to try out it's sequel. I got way more then I expected. Most sequels are not as good as their originals. Even Sonic 2 was not as good as Sonic 1. Even with more levels and more detailed graphics. Streets of Rage 2 actually BUILDS on the previous game. Without making it ridiculously complicated.

GAMEPLAY A+: The gameplay of the first game just got a whole lot better. There's new moves that make the game less frustrating. That's one thing. Another thing is the fact that the enemies do less of that "hanging around on the edge of the screen" thing. When they do go to the edge where you can't hurt them they quickly get back into your sight.

GRAPHICS A+: The sprites in this game are HUGE. I'm not kidding, they also are animated better. The scenery and backgrounds are great looking and Sega put in more parallax scrolling to them and that really makes the backgrounds look better. The frame rate on this game is super smooth. In fact smoother then I thought was possible.

SOUND B+: The music is much more complex then the music in the previous game. It's not as fun to listen though. The shouts and screams in this game are a bit more clear though. The music is still good, just not as fun to listen to then the music in the previous game.

ADDICTIVENESS A+: Streets of Rage 2 will keep you entertained for sure. The relentless but fun gameplay makes the game addicting. With more creative stages in the game you will be wondering what comes next.

DEPTH B+: There's only 8 rounds like in the previous game. Except now the stages have parts to them. Making them take much longer to beat. There's a lot more variety in these parts. During the course of the game you'll go through things other then city streets. I'm not going to tell you what areas because that's something you'll have to see for yourself. I wouldn't want to ruin it.

DIFFICULTY MEDIUM: The games difficulty is quite balanced. Nothing much to say about that.

OVERALL RATING A

NOTE: I could not review combat due to the fact that vizzed never had an official combat rom. I have the game on my Atari 2600 I just did not have a page on here were I could type the review.

As a collector I would like to review my game consoles. When these console reviews come out I hope they help beginner collectors that are just starting their collections.
