Well I have been doing this since April but when I saw Aura post hist workout blog I decided to do the same!
Now every day I do 1 to 2 hours of walking depending on the heat. When I wake up at 6 I head out for an hour to walk every morning and after dinner if it's below 80 degrees I go for an hour walk.
I also do some intense stretching that increase my metabolism after my walk. Leg squats 30, leg stretch 30 secs each, over head arm stretch 30 sec each, behind back arm stretch 30 sec each, fist punch turn 30 each arm, fist punch up 30 each arm, bend touch toes 30, wall push ups 30, 1 leg squat 30 each leg. After that I take a nice shower to cool off. Oh yes I can do all of this in the shower XD!
My whole excersize routine is approved by a doctor and physical fitness pro.
Now my diet or what I call permanent eating style change. (Yes we are told not to call it a diet because I will be carrying this through out my life!)
Morning:
1 cup special K cereal, 1 serving of yogurt (or one egg), 1 glass of crystal light orange juice.
Between breakfast and lunch:
This is the longest break between meals so I'm allowed a snack if I need it.
1 granola bar. I can drink up to 2 glasses of water on hot days it's unlimited if I am outside.
Lunch:
My grandfather and I decided to have our big meal at lunch time. My doctor approved this.
1 cup meat (chicken, pork, fish, (red meat only once a week or less)), 1/2 cup startch (1/2 potato, brown or wild rice, 1 slice whole wheat bread, whole wheat pasta), 1/4 cup vegitable (broccoli, green beans, summer squash, carrots, artichoke), 1 cup V8 fruit juices (I don't have to have the tomato juice the doctor said YAY!), 1 container of apple sauce, if need more drink I can have a cup of decaf crystal light ice tea.
Between lunch and Dinner:
No snack allowed here since Lunch and Dinner are only 5 hours apart. I am allowed 2 glasses of water though and more if I am outside in the heat.
Dinner:
Peanut butter and jelly sammich (2 slices of whole wheat bread, 1 tbsp natural organic peanut butter no salt, 1 tbsp Polanar sugar free fiber jelly), 1 apple or orange, 1 cup of fatfree milk, 1 cup of V8 Fruit juice.
Night time:
Since I have two times I need to take my pain killers I'm allowed 2 snacks one before bed and one in the middle of night. I'm allowed one granola bar and one yogurt. With each snack I'm allowed 1 glass of water making a total of 2 glasses of water. This is only because of the medicine I need that requires food.
Each month I have lost 10 pounds so I have lost 30 pounds so far!
I've tried other diets and never have I been able to take much weight off or keep at it like this "diet". This is easy to keep and I don't feel hungry.
I have to be honest it's hard with this heat wave I can't really do walk at night time because at 8 pm it's still 90 degrees out and I just can't walk in that heat. What I do though is a few more stretch/arobics sessions during the day.
Now you ask "How do you make walking for such a long time fun?" Most people think it's boring and a waste of time. Well first thing is do you have a mp3 player, iPod, cell phone with music, or cd player? If you do make sure it's charged and take it with you. Find what time you like the most to be outside. Mine is sunset I get to see the sun setting behind the mountains and it's a wonderful view! When you listen to the music you'll loose all sense of time and it won't feel boring to you.
I'll keep updated on changes and when I go to my doctor appoints to say how much weight I've lost. Well I have been doing this since April but when I saw Aura post hist workout blog I decided to do the same!
